  1. Great news! All details have been approved and these shows will now be held at the Yerong Creek Recreation Ground, NSW. Yerong Creek is on the Olympic Highway, 30 mins from Wagga and 1 hour from Albury. This is a three day weekend with the Southern Region Hound Club holding two shows as well. We are endeavouring to make this weekend extra special to celebrate our 21st year! All judges are International. There is around 20 powered sites available and unlimited unpowered, campers will have clean showers and toilets as well as access to a great, huge room with tables and chairs and a fire to socialise. All this for $10.00 per night. The Bowling Club will be open from midday Fri, Sat & Sun with meals available each night, and the Hall Committee will be catering breakfast, morning tea and lunch each day from the Club's kitchen. There is plenty of accommodation available in surrounding towns, a B&B in the bottom pub at Henty (10 mins away) as well as the top pub, pub and motel at Culcairn (20 mins away) - going the other way - motel at The Rock (10 mins away) and many motels and Stayz houses available in Wagga (30 mins away). Early next year I will have a list of accomodation along with contact numbers available.

Keep an eye out for the schedule in the Dogs NSW and Vic journals!

  2. i have never seen this in the ring but would love to

When done properly, it is exciting and exhilerating!!

    Absolutely!!

My foxie is the most laid back terrier, he loves all people and all dogs, wags his tail constantly and doesn't start fights, HOWEVER........he will NOT back down! And I have seen this on three occasions now! He will face off as he should, on the tiptoe of expectation! Then come home and sleep on my lap

  3. I also think there should be more judges asking for terriers to face off! But I also think that if an exhibitor does not know how to face off their dog safely they should politely inform the judge that because of their lack of experience they don't wish to participate.

You have a terrier, treat it as such. If this practise makes you "really upset and disgusted" then maybe a terrier is not the breed for you.

  4. Yes you can still show here. The day, if the day ever comes where you are NOT allowed to show a legally docked dog I will be quitting showing. I am in dobes, hate them with tails, and whilst people complain that Judges dont put up their dogs because they have "tails" they dont realise its just because their dogs arent good enough! the excuses some people will make haha.

Any way, the tail issue with dobes is kinda fun because most of the dobes with tails have curly tails (this is not correct),as IF the dobe was docked, the tail would clearly be what is called a "gay" tail. Its much harder to hide a bad tail set if your dog has a full tail in my breed but nonetheless the Judges dont realise bad tail sets when they see them because they cant comprehend tails to begin with!

My dogs are docked by Martyn Dobermanns, I have never been asked to produce proof but I have a "sheet of paper" with their banding licence or whatever it is and my dogs registered name.

Bloody RSPCA and idiotic public, cause all this mess for the rest of us when they could just be saving dogs in puppy mills and other relevant situations.

  5. It's great to see people have donated or given away prizes rather then making money off them. I don't know why but I wouldn't feel right selling something I had won. Just me I guess! :o

I wish you did know why you don't feel right selling something you have paid for (or partially) with your entry fee.

  6. There are many in my breed that are worthy of this title that are either steralised or deceased and will never gain it.

I haven't read the rules regarding the title, but would a dog be able to get a neuter challenge and still qualify?

the neuter title is a different title so I would guess not.

Neuters don't get challenges and you need a challenge.

  7. The owner of the Airdale obviously entered the dog in the wrong class and neither the show sec or cataloguer picked it up (the onus is on the exh to enter the dog correctly). Therefore, she went into the Junior class and after it was awarded someone must have realised it should have been in intermediate so the award was withdrawn. Shame for the other juniors as the class cannot be rejudged.

  8. I do group numbers, copy and stuff in envelopes, that is a free service for the club. I don't do the judges breed numbers untill usually about a week later. It is a bigger job doing a full breed breakdown and if clubs would close entries sooner then there would be time to get them done to send to exhibitors. This is ALL free to the club so........close shows earlier and pay me more money and I will consider doing full breed breakdowns! Sheesh, look at what number your group starts at, look at your number and hey presto!!!! that is how many dogs are before you!! Sorry, I get a little sick of what exhibitors want cataloguers to do for nothing.

  9. Should be entered in Junior Class. The age is always calculated at the FIRST day of any show..

I assume you mean any Royal show? If it is a double or triple All Breeds show then the class changes if the dog has a birthday on the second or third day.

  10. Yes Helen, it covers ALL Gundog breeds and anyone can join, indeed anyone is welcome to join, but we need at least 30 members who live in the Southern Region before we can apply for affiliation.

  11. We still need 15 members (more is good) to get our new club up and running. The club will be the Southern Region Gundog Club and are hoping to hold 1 or 2 shows at the Southern Region Country Classic shows at the end of June each year (starting next year which is the SRCCs 21 year). If you live in the Southern Region and are interested in joining the club then email me your name, DogsNSW membership number, phone number and email addy to [email protected] You don't have to own a gundog, anyone can join!

  12. kerrie who i met at Mytrleford is a member of this club, she informed me they missed the cut off date for submitting judges etc to Dogs Vic, so their first show will be next year not this year. hopefully she can confirm this herself as she is on dogs online

BB I just read this to mean they didn't get the paperwork to the VCA, in the timeframe required, to be approved to hold the show. Not arguing here, just saying how I read this to mean. It isn't just a case of having the schedule in intime to be published.

  13. Just recently someone entered their older bitch under her breeder. The bitch in question had not done much winning, and especially not groups. The judge asked them if he could have a puppy out of her and gave her group. Guess what most people at the show think of his judging and ethics?!?!

I would never do it even though you can.

  14. Thats a shame if they missed the cut of date, but couldn't they ask to just have it slipped into the plastic bag as

    a loose sheet?

Or have it included on the VCA web site? Ozshow or even here?

Emailed to breed clubs (yes I know there would be lots of work involved in that idea.)

    BB

It isn't just a case of publishing the schedule. There are rules to be followed and one of those rules (at least in NSW) is to have the schedule and judges contracts into the CC 5 months before the show.
