  1. excellent news, well done Troy and team. In my breed there are many of the "fringe dwellers" who have never been involved in any ANKC activity apart from breeding, some of them up to 11 litters per year for 2012. I see no motivation for breeding that many litters if they have no involvement in any activity other than $$$. Then there is the "registered breeder" who had an ad for all of 2012 on DOL but only registered 1 litter in 2012, maybe something to do with the fact that they sell their puppies for $1000 cheaper if they are purchased without papers These "breeders" use DOL as their primary source of purchasers for their puppies, so any steps taken to weed them out is welcomed by me.
  2. So very sorry for such devastating news Amy, RIP Keisha
  3. Forgot to add in my pm, try not to pollute the area you were stopped in any more till I can get there if possible. By pollute I mean walking around the area. I know that has been done already but try not to do it any more
  4. Amy there are quite a few Tracking Dogs in Geelong, I have a couple of Tracking Champions at home I'd be happy to take one of them there and give it a try. PM me if you would like me to. Couldn't get there till tomorrow afternoon though.
  5. Hope she is found soon Amy, can't imagine how worried you would be. Definitely approach K-Rock and Bay-FM radio stations, also Geelong Advertiser Newspaper, see if you can get any interest from how it came about to make it "newsworthy". It is all over FB with many Geelong people so hope this helps.
  6. Sway thank you so much for providing these files, its disappointing the pdf file on Dogs Vic site you cannot save the details, which I can't understand when the performance form you can, they are both pdf. Now when a dog gets a title I'll be able to just add it in instead of retyping the whole thing. Much appreciated :)
  7. Handy hint: my husband gets some pliers and bends each end of the coil in when they are in the right place, stops them moving. Works a treat. Always leave one end free and attach with dog clips, that way you can join as many sets together as you like and they are very versatile.
  8. I would say his parents are most likely both Rottweilers, although without knowing where he came from or having any papers you will never know for sure. Agree with other posters, he will be a finer type of dog, he has very dark markings on his face and legs where there should be more tan, but that can happen in the breed too. At this age they are also at their gangliest :) For my eyes, I can't see any labrador influence in there, for what it's worth. Hope this helps and you enjoy Zeus, sounds like you are hooked on the breed, quite understandable!
  9. I sent my dogs x-rays to Lavelle for the first time last Tuesday night. The results were emailed to me by lunchtime the next day and the hard copies in the mail. That is unbelievably prompt service, and I was really impressed. I for one will be happy to use Lavelle in the future.
  10. One for me please, can you PM me when you require payment? I don't get in here that often. Thanks
  11. No the red cart belongs to the Metcalfe family (Vonderzenn) who were kindly loaning the cart to us to use on the day. I believe Les Setterfield's cart has been sold interstate last year. Unfortunately due to the weather forecast and the decision to hold the show indoors, it will not be possible to now have the carting, it would just be physically impossible to pull a cart around inside with the congestion. We are disappointed but the committee had to make that decision with the weather. I hope all exhibitors still support the fundraising the Classic are doing on the day.
  12. Blatant plug to let you all know that Syrah the Rottweiler will be at this show pulling a cart and taking donations for the Dogs Queensland Flood Relief Fund. So bring along all your spare change/notes whatever. Anyone with little children, she would also love to take them for a ride in the cart
  13. No she was entered a long time prior to closing, we didn't notice it gazetted, but apparently it was well before the closing date, we found out about it much later. Our breed club seemed pretty happy to enforce it, as they reprinted the rule in our catalogue :D The Secretary emailed me to ask if the bitch's puppies were within the 10 weeks, I informed her she wouldn't be shown due to the 2 days. She did not even appear in the catalogue so I assume there will be a refund of her entry in that case. Obviously our club was not aware about being able to get a vet certificate or we would have been told she could have been exhibited.
  14. Well that's just great, we had to pull a girl we bred out of our Rottweiler Specialty last weekend, as she missed the 10 week rule by 2 days Would have been nice to know this was the case a couple of weeks ago. :D Don't worry Pam, our fellow exhibitors would have been more than happy to do the maths and notify the breed club and Dogs Victoria and have any awards/gradings rescinded. Dogs Victoria wouldn't have to do the work. Unfortunately people doing the wrong thing and not caring for their bitches ends up biting the rest of us on the bum to make sure all is done right by our dogs. I hope this is adjusted to a more sensible rule, and really if it is not nation wide it is just a joke. We could have gone interstate and competed with this girl last weekend and no one would have batted an eyelid.
  15. Might as well add mine to the list Born 24th August - 3 girls 6 boys, another boy didn't make it despite our best efforts. Sorry to hear of everyones dramas and losses but congrats to all the healthy puppies who have arrived, it is always a heartache along the way.
  16. Thanks for the headsup on this, I contacted GT and spoke to a lady named Amanda from the Baulkham Hills facility. She has confirmed that Norm Jessup has left Frozen Puppies in Vic, and the semen we have stored is now at Sandown. She said there were different circumstances to the Vic & Qld branches closing down but that Frozen Puppies was still operating. They don't have plans to inform Vic clients of the move, but assures me it is being maintained by Sandown and all is fine. Hopefully that is the case.
  17. It's actually a 3 minute down stay in Novice class :D I wish it was only 1 minute! Yes it is 3 minutes, but sometimes it feels like 30 minutes
  18. DOL's very own Allerzeit is excellent for creating websites - doggy and non doggy. She setup ours for us, and I just do the updates myself. She is very reasonably priced, efficient and I am very very happy to recommend her
  19. *cough* you missed the best breed in the world
  20. Allerzeit are we on the same wavelength or what? Of the few NBT's that I have seen I would not even consider them in our breeding program based on their conformation. In my opinion conformation and temperament are miles ahead of breeding for a tail-less dog, and we have no desire to incorporate one into our breeding. Totally agree that after living with tailed rotts for the last 5 years we actually like the tails, and even if the ban were lifted we would never dock again go ahead shoot me down in flames but that is the truth. The general public also seem much happier being approached by a rottie with a tail, I guess the body language is much easier for them to see how friendly they are. On the plus side for me, it makes tracking with them easier as you can read their body language
  21. I just found this thread and think it is a fabulous idea Dyz! I can see many people buying them for use at shows/trials, best everyone gets embroidery too I think ;) Great work
  22. So sorry for your loss Elfin, it is never easy. I'm sure even though they seemed to ignore her, they knew. Our dogs have had mixed reactions when seeing one of their pack gone. Some can't stop sniffing and being around them, some almost appear to be in denial and will not recognise that they are even there. Either way I'm sure they are all aware of what has happened and will react differently in their grief. I agree with the rescue remedy for your dogs and you, it has seemed like it helped for us anyway
  23. Thank you so much for the tip, I was relying on that for my shade, so is there going to be anywhere in the emptiness for us to hammer in stakes and pegs or is it all bitumen? I seem to remember there really wasn't much room at all for tents because it was all bitumen?
  24. Wow that is an excellent price! The cheapest I've seen a compact is $190 online, and just got a price from Anaconda for $219
  25. Could someone please tell me the link to the seller in the US on ebay? I did a search but could not find anything.
