  9. ;) WAY TO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CHOOKA!!!!!!!!! So happy that we will see you around the traps next season!!!! They don't just hand out the passes sweets, they were two very tough judges so you earnt them alright Not sure but I'm going to the meeting at KCC to find out, don't want to get caught out next season
  10. Ahhh fooeeyyy........ You'll be great There is a type Well my type is "I have no idea" :p
  11. Good luck chooka, I'm sure you'll go great guns Make sure you post up how you go, we should start a "herding" thread for all things herding :p
  12. Yeh I can't wait!!!! We have so much to learn and I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be sure to tell him Mrs D is waiting with baited breath when I see him
  13. Thanks Squeak, Rosie sounds quiet similar to Storm, I'll start tonight and let you all know how I go She is just such a quiet girl and the only time you hear noise is when she is asleep and she groans ;) ;) She does, would you believe at the trial she had her head resting on the back of the sheep trying to push them up and they just stuck her up because she is such a soft worker ie. hard sheep don't take her serious. I got THE phone call last night!!!! Come on Mrs D, you should know what THE phone call would be............. took your advice and have been lucky enough to get into one of God's clinics at the end of October ;) :D :p
  14. Yeh I'm with SM, drag mum along  People don't realise how amazing it is until they see it themselves and she is one SUPER herding dog!!!!!
  15. Thanks Kitkat was along the lines of what I'd been told but I'm yet to work out what frustrates Rosie *sigh*
  16. How would you teach a dog to speak who never barks I've had a few suggestions but would love to hear what the trainers on here think too. Riles
  17. Cash was incredible and it was so fantastic that it was recognised He just such a natural and I love watching him! Colin was soooooooooooooooo impressed with her and you did so well chooka ;) You've been well and truly bitten by the bug now sweetheart :D It was a great day as always, Rosie needs a bark command or sumfin, the sheep worked out how soft she was and stuck her up :p so we retired :p I'm happy the season is over so we can get a heap of practice in before next year
  18. Australian Shepherd Club trial is on next weekend (1+2 September) at KCC Park, the link is on a few pages back
  19. I wish I could but I'd be lieing, where the tunnel is for the sheep to enter the big paddock, up to your ankles still in mud They did however do the tests in the big paddock, we just brought out extra fencing and made a small yard so unless the other area dries out, I imagine the same will happen at the ASCV trial Phew!!!!! Did they round off the corners like they're s'posed to? I'm only VERY new myself sweets The less I interfere the better, mouth shut and hands in pockets. I only open my mouth to say "stop" and one hand up in the air. If I need to push her around one hand out of pocket in the direction I want her to go with no vocal command. Actually Herding Guy taught me that, he's always in my head saying "shut the fark up Riley, stop interferring n let the dog work" :) I get nervous and say the opposite of my hands, also I did use a stick in her first PT that day (VHA trial), however I made the mistake of hunting her out with it too much so she started focusing more on the stick than the sheep, so threw it over the fence during the test. Just about everytime I have corrected her, she had it right and I was wrong It really comes down to what works for you and your dog, different strokes for different folks From watching a lot of other people trial, and my own tests, where we all fall down? We interfere with the dog too much just IMH newbie opinion More practice, more practice, more practice, for the Mumma Bear, the child could do it with her eyes shut *sigh*
  20. I agree with Kelpie-i's great advice
  21. Can I ask what your concerns are in relation to the herding behaviour? Rosie herds EVERYTHING, we were all sitting at the outdoor table last night and she just did laps of the table and all of us, no bad has ever come from it and I've never tried to stop her so I'm unsure what is worrying you Riles
  22. I did a google search and have sent you a pm with some club information, best bet would be to contact them and get along to a trial for a sticky beak :D
  23. I wish I could but I'd be lieing, where the tunnel is for the sheep to enter the big paddock, up to your ankles still in mud :o They did however do the tests in the big paddock, we just brought out extra fencing and made a small yard so unless the other area dries out, I imagine the same will happen at the ASCV trial Date of fixture, I always put the two days the trial is on ie. ASCV I wrote "1+2 September 06". I've never put anything in the "member of club" bit so it doesn't matter if you leave it blank. You did perfect with the "entered in" bit. You have to put her registered name, number etc and like Indi said, Mum and Dads details/numbers also. I also mentioned to Kate on the weekend that you'd be sending your entry in and giving her a call to make sure it was all okey dokey, she said NO PROBLEM :D I actually read them religiously and I also pratice in my head when I go to bed, I literally count sheepies to fall asleep  But its more me that needs the practice and we also need to get a few more commands on Rosie now. We do regularly train but the next trial is coming up so quickly so I'll just see how we go on the weekend. Thankfully there is no mention of not being allowed to pick up your dog after penning the sheep and planting kisses all over her face I just can't believe how much fun it is or how nice the people are, especially to newbies, definately a great sport to participate in Happy Herding & Good Luck To All Riles & Rosie
  24. Because the Mumma Bear has no clue :p Will see what the mentors think and take it from there. Good luck can't wait for an update and piccies As far as I know, you need to lodge your HT papers with the VHA before entering the next level, that can be as simple as you've put them in the letterbox (ie. they do not have had to have reached the VCA but must be on the way). I lodged Rosie's PT today (well sent it off anyways) so I could (hypotheticaly) upgrade to HS.
