  1. Very sorry to hear your new Loraine - wishing you all the very best xx
  2. I highly recommend them....great prices and ever so helpfull I will also third this recommendation - worth dropping them an email at least!!! Much more reasonable prices I found too...
  3. Sorry Joelky - but if they are the instructions they gave you then I would probably just follow them. Worst would be to turn up at the airport and they refuse because of the wrong crate!!
  4. My 3 cats went from Perth to Melb - without the water container. They were fine. I checked with the vet, and they said anything 6 hrs or less is considered a short flight, and they will be fine without the water/food containers. This is of course as long as there are no underlying medication conditions etc that require the pet to have water/food.
  5. Thanks PF - will do... She is completely knackered... passed out on her new bed... Sorry we didn't get to see you again before heading off!!! Hope to bring the girl back on holidays at some stage, so we know where you are!!
  6. Thanks guys.. Just for anyone doing this in the future - yes, its very easy to get to the freight pick up on foot. Its actually quite well sign posted too! From the baggage collection area - go to the exit and turn right (has it moved since you have been there showdog???) Of course would depend on your luggage etc - and in my case - would have helped if my case hasn't lost a wheel!!!
  7. Thanks Pers - I'll have another look - but I couldn't find a scale for the maps?
  8. I'm arriving in Melbourne airport tomorrow (Tullamarine). Myself and my doggie are travelling together. Can anyone tell me if I need to catch a taxi from the arrivals lounge to the Virgin freight terminal, or if it is possible to walk? I don't want to make a fool of myself by catching a taxi around the corner!! hehehe Thanks in advance!
  9. I tried to board my cats there once, but they didn't open on a Saturday!!? So I couldn't drop off/pick up, and it was very inconvenient!! Not sure if its still under the same management, but you may need to check - just in case. I think a friend of a friend's dog has boarded there, but I don't have any first hand experience. I use The Paw House - http://www.thepawhouse.com.au (same kennel zone) Claire and Leigh are AWESOME - and our GSD loves going there!
  10. This is one of the ones I've found -GT-!! http://www.petcabs.com.au/
  11. Hi all I have done a DOL search but couldn't find anything. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for Pet Taxi?? I have come across a couple via google, but wanted to know if anyone has some personal recommendations. We are moving from Perth to Melbourne, and as we won't have a car initially, I need some transport to get myself and my doggie (GSD) from the airport to our new house!! Thanks in advance
  12. The difference might also be that JP are arranging door to door, and dogtainers is airport to airport?? Just that I've found this when trying to organise my lot recently!!!
  13. I wouldn't - but I used to work with a guy that had owned at least 6 dogs (one after the other), of the same name, same sex, same cross breed, same colour and similar markings... I really couldn't understand it!!!
  14. Regardless of the wording, it would be backed up in their Local Laws - so whilst you may want to argue the fact with them - ignorance is not an excuse, and you would still get a fine. (not meaning you are ignorant, just that the information on where dogs are not allowed/welcome/invited is accessible, so just "not knowing" something - doesn't mean it is ok!) The signs are there so that you know the dogs aren't allowed - if you want more specifics then there should be information on their website and/or available from an officer at Council. Of course it would depend on the Ranger on the day - but you'd be lucky to get away with arguing about the wording on the sign.
  15. Steve, I know the manager/person in charge of the Cat Haven in Perth was strongly pushing the Real Estate board (or whatever it is called) into making some changes in regards to pets and rentals. She felt that less pets would be dumped/surrendered if people were allowed more options in rentals. I haven't spoken to her in quite a while, but your topic just triggered my memory...
  16. I have this exact problem with my 4yo female GSD.... in fact, we are having one-on-one training on Saturday to assist us!!! If there is anything helpful I can pass on, I'll let you know!!!
  17. http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2007/10/...art-interactive You might be able to work it out using this??
  18. My heart dog left for Rainbow Bridge just before Christmas - my eyes well up whenever I talk/type/think/see pics of her. Its still very raw for me - even after 6 months. Whilst I love our remaining dog to bits - we play, cuddle, train, vege out together, and generally have a great time - we just don't have the connection or bond that I had with Flynt. I agree with the others that have heart dogs over the bridge - you really do lose part of yourself when they go. I know that any pet leaving you is devastating - but heart dogs change you forever...
  19. If you use google maps to look for your house, you should be able to figure out what street and number the house is behind you http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&tab=wl
  20. Another here who doesn't know what to say or do. But wanting to show my love and support. I have just transferred a little donation to MBDA Pacers towards the things that Jed and her family may need. Thanks to the DOL community for helping when there is someone in need - it is truly touching.
  21. We have one dog and 3 cats - 2 moggies and one maine coon. The 4 of them get along so well... they spend all day indoors together when we are at work!
  22. Oh - I never thought of that! I will investigate further!! Thanks!
  23. Thanks Shelle&Shyla - yes, I wouldn't want them to be cold!!! Currently, our GSD stays inside with our cats during the day (due to her upsetting the neighbourhood as she is still pining ) - this would probably extend to the new addition when it happens, but it would take a while for the trust to develop with the cats - hence the question about winter and outdoors!! (Both dogs would be outside until that happened, not just one!!!)
