  1. yeah - we feed our dog Nutro as well, as I had read so much about it on here. Have to admit though, have had great difficulty finding it - most pet food stores have never even heard of it, let alone stock it!
  2. yep - I know when our puppy had an upset tummy, the vet reccommended plain poached chicken.
  3. When we bought our puppy, we were told to feed her a mix of premium dry food (currently use Nutro), chicken necks and raw chicken mince, which I mix with grated vegetables. Now that she is a bit older, I somethimes think we are overfeeding her as we still feed her twice a day, but she is very active and vet says she is just the right weight. I guess she must just work it off.
  4. Yep - have found Nutro very hard to locate - I think because there is only one company that imports it into Australa - however I have found a place that sells it online.
  5. Thanks for the info. Have read about how good Nutro is supposed to be so was going to switch over from the Eukanuba, then I'm sure I read on another thread that these two brands are actually made by the same company, so am wondering how different they actually are! Have never even heard about Eagle Pack? Is it more widely available in some areas then others? Thanks fo rthe info. I might give the Nutro a go.
  6. I also worry about arthritis - our dog is extremely active - jumps up and down and off things she really shouldn't ( our backyard is a steep slope) I read somewhere that dogs are more prone to arthritis if they have spent a lot of time jumping etc when they are young - is this true?
  7. Is there anything you sholdn't give them to chew. For example, I heard a story the other day about a very ill dog who obviously had some kind of obstruction. When they operated on her, they found chewed up bits of a soccer ball! Do most dogs just chew, but not eat or do you have to be reaaly careful with what you give them.
  8. Apologies if this has already been asked. I am looking at changing from Eukanuba Dry to Nutro as a lot of people seem to reccommend it however I thought I remembered reading the other day that they were both owed by the same company. Do you think there is any difference and are both as good as one another?
  9. How common is parvo amongst dogs. in terms of percentages etc.
  10. When we got our dog, someone said to me - say goodbye to your nice backyard and lawn and they were certainly right, however now that we have experienced the joys of dog ownership, we would never be without one!
  11. Squirt ! the pina colada version! It smells yummy.
  12. We were also told this at puppy training. As soon as they jump, turn in the other direction. The important thing seems to be consistency. Whilst I was okay at doing this, my OH used to give our puppy huge pats and cuddles when she jumped up ( this was basically undoing all the stuff I was doing and basically rewarding her for jumping. Sometimes I think it is easier to train the dog than the OH. ;) ;)
  13. I also just used a baby stair gate. We find that it works perfectly! You'll often find things like that at garage sales or just ask around friends. Heaps of people have things like that lying in their garages.
  14. My vet also told me to do this. He also reccommended that you make a sound like a puppy yelping, which is apparently what puppies often do to warn each other when play is getting too rough. You feel a bit stupid doing it, but it seemed to work.
