  1. Hi Helen, Its a separate System Ruth
  2. Hi Guys, Online Entries for some QLD shows are here and ready to go! The events with the red border have online entries available. We will add some filters soon to make finding the online entries even easier. If you have any questions or suggestions please let us know, [email protected]
  3. Just thought id post to spread the word that the Rocklea Show Society show to be held on Sunday 1 May has been moved to the Durack Grounds. http://www.cccq.org.au/Clubnews.ashx?id=301 Ruth
  4. The timetable for the Ekkai s up on the new QLD Dogs site. Does anybody know where the dogs will be judged this year??
  5. Double handling used to be allowed showing Arabian horses at halter. It has now been banned due to a general consensus that the distraction it caused the other animals competing in the class (particularly those who were frightened by it) was too great and turned the class (and the marshalling area) into a dangerous and quite frankly ridiculous spectacle! Also I think people realised that animals who are over revved and generally unsettled often don’t move correctly. In my opinion a solid, balanced gait with natural carriage and rhythm is far more complimentary than rushed, tense and distracted craziness!! Having said that I have nothing against its use in the German Sheppard ring, its obviously something they enjoy and find valuable to their breed shows.
  6. We show several breeds in the one group and jugle our 12 month old daughter between us also! for that reason I like an organised LOUD Steward so Ainslie Carius is my favourite
  7. We use them on the show Beagles for thinning out necks but always a week or so out from the show. Id never use one on a coated show dog though.
  8. Can annyone recommend a good quality pet meat supplier on the Gold Coast?
  9. No It seems to come and go though. We have noticed in the last couple of weeks sinc the weather has gotten colder it has been worse, not just on our dogs.
  10. we find feeding apple cider vinigar helps a lot with eye staining on the lemon Beagles!
  11. Just wondering if anyone can suggest somewhere in SE QLD I can take my dryer in to be serviced / repaired? It just isnt getting hot enough any more. Its is only 6 months old but was bought from NSW.

  14. definately no swimming with open wounds!!
  15. If they have been run together and are not wormed strictly every three months then yes, very likely. Then how would 1 dog out of 5 get tapeworms if they all runned together, ate together and most of the time slept together or in the next kennel run??? All wormed regualry, cleaned out kennels on concrete??? This is what is confusing me the most... As i was always under the standing that if 1 had worms they all have worms... hmmmmm Thats what I said, it is likely that they do all have worms.

  17. Flea Tapeworms are the most common and are spread by fleas. Part of the tapeworm’s lifecycle develops in fleas & when a dog eats an infected flea the tapeworm develops in their intestine. The most common sign is your dog ‘scooting’ or dragging its bottom along the ground due to irritation. You may also find worm segments in droppings or on the dog’s coat around the anus – like rice grains. Worm your dog every 3 months - once is not enough Remove dog droppings from your yard and litter trays Clean kennels and sleeping areas regularly Concrete runs are best Worm any cats/other pets in the household as well Control fleas on your pets
  18. I know lots of Afghan people use OMG and they tend to steer clear of silicone products so I dont think it is silicone based.
  19. Try the specialist centre at Underwood in Brisbane, they are very good. http://www.vss.net.au/
  20. I have to bathe and blowdry my Afghan every week for shows and to prevent knots! As she is done so sften she is basically clean so i just dilute a small amount of shampoo and run it through the hydrobath followed by a rinse through of conditioner. If she gets a bit dry I do a 'leave on' rinse at the end with a very small and dialuted amount of Alpha kerri oil.

  23. Excuse my ignorance... but what is a BARF diet? :D Currently, the only reason I feed dry food is because I was of the beleive that it contains the vitimins & minerals that help puppies develop??? I beleive in giving dogs variety and much prefer feeding her raw foods like chicken necks, chicken mince and tuna. (although in saying that, I went to three butchers on the weekend and none had any chicken necks... its very frusterating because I work full time and can only shop on weekends, butchers open after I leave for work and close before I get home, it seems they seem to sell out of chicken necks very quickly) If I stopped feeding the dry food, would it effect growth at all, or can i buy a suppliment or something? Our local Coles has chicken necks. mine too and wings!!
