  1. Hi could someone please tell me if there is a dog rescue group in the Cranbourne/ Pearcedale area as I have a rather large bag of Canidae I would like to donate. Our JRT Bindi has been put on a weight maintenance kibble, we have put her on Artemis. Rather than the Canidae go to waste thought it may help some one out.
  2. Just beautiful iltby I like them all. Dungog is such a lovely town, I just love going to Dungog to visit my Aunty but don't get there as often as I'd like.
  3. So glad that you had it returned and that someone had handed it in . I'm with huga, as soon as I take my lens caps off straight into the bra they go. A few times I have got the look from people.
  4. Wow what a journey for you and your family, I have just read all 16 pages, I went through all the tears and rode the roller coaster of emotions. I am so glad that Luki pulled through and seems to have suffered no ill effect. Did you ever find out about the other dog that was at the pound with Luki, I so hope he made it to. I am so happy that you decided to give Luki his forever home, he has fitted in quite well. But I must say you are one special person K9angel you truly are an angel. Luki has grown into a very handsome boy and has a real character about him. Bless you for what you do and have done.
  5. a bit late to the party but a product from the supermarket called goo remover it is brilliant for removing gum of anything and everything as well as the gum left behind from stickers.
  6. Sorry to hear your boys not well I hope he is on the mend. Give him a pat from us and Bindi
  7. Thank you Jadesamara, Bindi came through with flying colours I am so relived, I couldn't stop blubbering when I was told it was alot worse than first thought & that she may lose her eye, the vet had never removed anything like it before as she usually calls for an eye specialist, but Bindi was already under anaesthetic (spelling). I gave her the go ahead to do it. Vet called a little while ago, all A OK so far, the foreign object was some sort of thorn, she has kept it for us to have a look at.
  8. Thank you Alfie, Bindi came through with flying colours. Vet said it looks like a thorn, she has kept it for us to see.
  9. Hi, we took our JRT Bindi for a walk and and when we came home we noticed a bit of grass or grass seed in her eye, tried flushing it with water and wouldn't come out. So off to the vets this morning for them to have a look, eye really swollen so they have to sedate her to have a look and remove foreign body. Poor baby was feeling quite sad for her self trying to get it out to. So I am just waiting for a call to pick her up. I'm feeling for her, but I know that she won't feel it as she is sedated but I guess she is still our fur baby and maybe I am a worry wart. Just needed to vent. Update....... Had a call from the vet saying now her eyeball may rupture when they're removing it and if it does they will have to remove her eye I feel so helpless Update again...... Bindi has come through with flying colours wasn't grass or grass seed it was some sort of thorn, her eye is ulcerated, stitched closed but open a little to put in drops, antibiotics and a cone so she doesn't try to pull out stitches. I am so relieved she is ok. Phew I am one relieved mumma.
  10. When Bindi was a puppy she would eat a few snails but to my horror she would mainly bring them inside one at a time, was quite commical to watch her but, we discouraged it from the start, didn't take long for her not to worry about the snails. She now has a sniff and leaves them alone.
  11. Hi Erny if you are any where near Cranbourne the large fruit and vege market on the highway in Cranbourne have the Canidae ( spelling) All life stages 13.6kg bag for $99 they have it as a trial run and said if enough people purchase it, it will be a regular item at there store as the said it is good stuff. The Market is only open Wed-Sat. I have purchased many brands over the last 4 years for Bindi our JRT fussy lil devil and the only others she would eat are the Artemis, and Evo/Innova but don't like buying from you know who, and since having the Canidae she eats this with guttso and runs in little happy circles and sits and lifts her little paw up when it's feed time, so I think I'm on a winner.
  12. Beautiful tribute ( my eyes are wet, but I'm not crying ) RIP Taffy have fun playing with Sox and your skin dad
  13. A big big hug to you and your family bustam. RIP mahli
  14. I feed our fussy JRT Artemis. Before having this dry food she would sniff the dry food, turn up her nose and walk away. Since she has been on the Artemis she eats with gutso , she seems to prefer it with a little warm water on it and then licks the bowl clean. I am amazed as I have spent a small fortune trying to find a dry that she will eat. Good luck benretriever
  15. Hi, I have tried a few brands of dry food and all my girl would do was maybe have a taste, sniff and walk away, and give me the look as if to say you want me to eat that. Well after reading on here on DOL about the Artemis I thought I'd buy it to try, low and behold she eats it with gutso now and gets all excited and wiggles her cute lil butt and wags her tail, when she sees me getting the container out. Today is day 4 of her eating it. Other brands I have tried were : Advance for puppies when we first bought her home, Eaglepack holistic , Nutro choice , Royal canin, and now the Artemis. So to any other fussy fur kids out there give it a whirl.
  16. Oh newpup that brings back memories. When we bought Bindi (JRT) home 16months old now, she squeeled for 2 nights non stop. On the 2nd night her squeeling was worse than the fist night and I like you didn't have a chance for quiet time to get her out to go to the toilet. But say around 3 am the 2nd night daughter noticed a light shining in to her bedroom window and thought what the hell so when she peeked out the edge of the blind it was the neighbour perched up on the fence scanning our yard looking for what was making the awful noise. She probably thought we were torchering our lil Bindi. When daughter told us this when we got up we had a chuckle (nasty us ) well this neighbours car alarm goes off at least 3 times a week and she usually takes ages to turn it off so we thought payback was wonderful hehehe. good luck with chili
  17. A few months ago we erected a large shed in our back yard. Before we could get the side door on 2 swallows made there home in the shed then lil bubba swallows came along. So we thought we'd wait til the bubbas left the nest before we erected the door. The babies left the nest about a week and a half ago so over the week end other half erected the door, locking out the mummy and daddy swallow. But when ever we opened the door or roller door the mummy & daddy would come in ,so we just tried to keep everything closed so they couldn't renest. They have been hanging around still, but alas 1 of them has gone to the bridge. I was hanging out the clothes and the mummy and daddy swallows were sitting on the roof of the house twittering away, they flew off then this large white bird swooped and carried off one of the swallows with the other in toe trying to get the mate. Now the mate that is left is just calling and calling for it's mate. it is sad but I guess that is the animal food chain. RIP little swallow rest in peace.
  18. yeah she took a swab and looked at it and the vet said it was bacterial. I'm not use to this sorta thing as it's been 20 yrs since my last pet, but since having Bindi I'm relearning all over again. The other thing she said was that Bindi is just a tad over weight. oh Kristie it's awful when they're not well, I hope your Mitchi is well and over it now.
  19. Bindi has an ear infection and she's feelin sorry for herself. I checked her ears the other day and thought that hmmm thats a strange colour, well I cleaned them and swabbed her ears out. Checked her ears out the following morning spoke to the vet and said if there is still gunk in her ears bring her down to be checked out. Yesterday morning well her ear must have been driving her nuts she had her lil paw inside her ear scratching away, and shaking her head like crazy. A quick call to vet when they opened, made appointment yesterday arvo and she has an ear infection poor lil mite and now has some antibiotic drops. The colour of the gunk that came out was very similar to umm how would you say it with out turning anyone off. Well it was a similar colour to vegemite with a bit of butter mixed in.
  20. Nivea cream just a small pot, but thats not the point, on it it says 10mls she at the whole damn lot. But oh my the commotion she gave when I took it from her. It must have rolled out of my hand bag while I put it on my bed. Waiting for vet to call back. Gawd I hope it's not poisonous to her. She is still playing as if nothing has happened. Any one with views on this or if their pups/dogs eaten anything of this sorta thing. I am stressed to the max. edited to add: vet called last night and said not to worry that it probably won't hurt her may just upset her tummy as she ate a pot of it, and may get diahorrea, or very loose stools. Thanks for replying poodle mum and jed. Bindi is fine this morning.
  21. Hi all was at the shops the other day and I saw that they had junket back on the shelves. It was in a small canister and it was $9.99 at our small convenience??? (spelling) store, and on the label it had back by popular demand. Will check down at the local supermarket over the weekend some time but I thought this would interest some of you that use it on your puppies. So for those of you that use it, keep your eyes peeled.
  22. Thanks for an interesting post. Glad to hear your pup is drinking more and feeling better
