  1. I don't really know how true this is but I was told years ago about 'Lime'. It is used as a fertilizer so you can sprinkle it around your house and especially areas where there is dirt as fleas like to breed in dirt. It is harmless so your dogs can walk in it & wont hurt them. When we first built our house we had fleas and we sprinkled 'Ag Lime' around everywhere in our yard - we still do because it takes the acidity out of soil and makes grass greener and veges grow better. Anyway we have never had a flea in years and I dont think it contains harsh chemicals.
  2. Oh she was horrified when she had diarrohea. She ran all over the house trying to get away from it. She was absolutely miserable and I must admit so was I We actually dont even hear her fart or smell it. I have read about other peoples gassy dogs and how they stink, well we dont even know she has done it until she leaps up looks at her bum and looks at where she was lying and then shoots off a million miles an hour to her bed.
  3. I took her to the vet about a week ago and she didnt have impacted anal glands but does seem to be scared of her farts. She must think that poop is going to come out from when she had diarrohea, so now the kids say she has fartophobia. He suggested charcoal tablets and acidophilous and said she may take a while to forget about it. I have been really careful about what she is eating and have started her on acidophilous and she seems a little better but the kids had her down the paddock this morning so have to see if the cow poo is making her gassy. She is a mini schnauzer just over a year old and weighs 11kg is she fat? She just looks cute to me but other people have said she looks fat.
  4. I live on small property inland from noosa and ticks are really bad. Last year I put a preventatic collar on my gsd without checking first for ticks and two days later he went down. Thankfully vet trip early saved him. I still use the preventatic collars and find them really good but if the dog has a tick already on him they wont kill the tick they only keep them off. So it was my own fault for being lazy and not checking him first or dipping first but after $480.00 vet bill I have learnt my lesson and it wont happen again. The tick collars are excellent I find but I still dip in fidos tick wash as well because the ticks are so bad here.
  5. Thanks for help. I will take her to the vet anyway just for a check up. Someone else said acidophilous powder can help too. Anyway I am watching her like a hawk & kids have strict instructions not to feed her anything because I think they where sneaking her chips etc. When she wags that little tail & looks up at you it is hard to resist her. I am also trying to think of a kind way & gentle way of making a soft muzzle because she loves the paddock & seems awful not to let her down there unless on a lead. She knows she shouldnt eat it because on the lead I have taught her but when i let her off she grabs a dried poo nearly bigger than her & runs away to eat it. :p
  6. No never feed tin food, i feed her raw chicken meat, brisket bones or chicken necks & supercoat. She is just over one year old so I have been feeding her adult supercoat. Should she still be on puppy biscuits. She is abit fat so I try not to feed too much and she doesnt guts down her food like shes starving. She seems really healthy, happy and so playful. I have never heard of eagle pack or a sensitive stomach food. I will look around next time i am in town. We do have a fenced off house yard that I have put logs, rocks and anything else around the bottom of fence to keep her in but my kids go on motorbikes down the paddock and take other dogs and she loves it.
  7. She really only seems scared when she farts. I really do think its from the diarrohea. Last night she was sleeping on her bean bag, jumped up really fast, looked at her bum and skittled up the hallway and jumped on her bed....and then I smelt the fart. Its so funny, but we have been out and then its embarrassing. Shes on the lead looks at her bum then goes round and round my legs trying to get away from her bum.
  8. I just cant stop her - she eats everything & I mean not just chew on things. She eats sticks, bark dirt and of course favourite is poo. She never eats dog poo tho. Her mouth is permanetly chewing on something. We live on property and she loves running around the paddock with the other dogs maybe i could get a little muzzle?? oh I hate the sound of that - isnt that cruel?? She is also abit fat from all the eating and I dont feed her very much. I have cooked up some chicken & rice to see if that stops the farting.
  9. Thankyou, I will definately take her to the vet now. I just thought it was all to do with when she had diarrohea. I hope i can wait in the waiting room though because I once smelt that awful smell and was nearly sick and never forgot it!! Must get a doggy book to see why that anal gland thing gets blocked. Yuck. I really have tried to keep her away from the cow poo but she loves it and horse and duck poo too. She is a mini schnauzer so you can image what her beard looks like!! She can army crawl under any fence. Thanks again.
  10. She mainly eats supa coat dog biscuits and raw meat or raw chicken necks. She does seem to fart alot which really scares her. She doesnt act like shes sick or anything. She runs around playing and always wants food. Shes a year old and I noticed after I had her desexed she acted weird too. I took her back to the vet then and she said she was acting phsycotic (sorry cant spell) and every time she thought about her belly we had to play and get her mind off it. Perhaps she needs bum & brain scan. She does go down the paddock and eat cow poo. would that make her fart? She doesnt lick and not itchy Would infected anal glands stink because she doesnt smell?
  11. I know this sounds weird but my poor dog got diarrohea about a month ago and now she is terrified of her bum! She pooped and fluffed all day and was miserable. So now she looks at her bum and runs and hides. How can I get her to forget about it and also why is she farting alot. I think she thinks when she fluffs that the poop is going to come out and shes scared. Its starting to scare me too!! My kids say she has 'Ringaphobia'
