I locked Charlie is my clothes/study room all day while I was at work. I thought he was in the backyard while I was leaving... he sometimes too busy chasing lizards to pay attention that I'm leaving.
I came home and I couldn't find him and then I heard barking from the back room... poor fella. Lucky I forgot to close the window the night before or else it would be so hot in there and I have a spare water bowl in there for him too and lucky I left work earlier to spend time with the dogs!
I opened the door and he ran to the backyard to do his business and then proceed to let me know how upset he was at me by walking around the house whinging, walking around the block whinging, he cuddles up to me whinging too.
Although it's a terrible thing to do... is it mean that I consider the whole situation funny?
Nah, he had water and fresh air - I'm sure he was probably a little bit miffed, but he then probably decided to go to sleep.

Kuga,
It sounds like you had the best life ever, with the best family ever.
You have left a wonderful legacy and may those memories comfort those you have left behind.
Sleep peacefully big guy.

A snort of Pugs

And a madcap of wheatens.
I'd go for a Whirl of Wheatens

A very happy first birthday, Emmy! Can't believe you are 1 already!!!
Party Time!

Anouk has no problem wanting to get the mouse, but when one gets woken up at 1.30am by either her in the garage upsetting things or a very noisy burglar and goes to investigate and sees Anouk with her head in a plastic bucket oblivious to the fact that the mouse has fled (we saw it), she lacks execution...
Terrier fail.

My wheatens' breeder is exceptionally good. She's always just an email away if I have any questions or problems.
I also think she's wonderful because she's heavily involved in dog rescue, and not just in relation to wheatens.
She knew that we'd be the right home for Ziggy, when his first family had to rehome him.

BTW We were in Estonia in winter - it reached -25C. We visited a breeder and a couple of her dogs preferred to be outside. The spitz dogs are pretty well set up for extreme cold I reckon.
-
What a gorgeous doggy - and congrats on you for adopting her!
I think most bigger dogs with generous fur end up sleeping on the cold surfaces. Even when provided with such comfy lodgings!
My two, although they don't have that big spitz coat, are still generously covered, and they do like to sleep on the concrete in the garage or on the cool tiles, Anouk especially. She would 'dig' in her crate to get to the cool plastic.
She is a beautiful girl, and congratulations on adopting her.

Interestingly enough I met an oodle owner on the weekend. We'd taken our two for a walk to the shopping centre and I was waiting outside when a woman came over to talk to A & Z. She said she had a labradoodle and commented on how beautiful and soft the wheaten fur was. Apparently her dog has a really curly coat that is very hard to groom.
I should imagine she could find a multitude of rescue dogs in London.
Would a Weaten be suitable???? Clearly she loves the 'look'.
Wheatens are awesome dogs, but they are terriers, so not for everyone.
I'm hesitant to recommend them to anyone who hasn't met wheatens or owned terriers in the past. If she is interested though, I'm sure I could find a couple of wheatens for her to meet in the fur to see if they are a dog for her ;)

I hope you enjoyed your very special day.

I say the breed names for my two then I say 'They're Irish farm dogs' because people understand what a farm dog is.
Some people might, but very few city people have the foggiest idea what "farm dog" can encompass. I was trying to explain why shire registration was discounted for vermin dogs the other day to my new neighbours' group of suburbanite guests and could not even manage to get through to them that "vermin dog" was a job not a specific breed.
:D I have vermin dogs! Can't imagine that breed being very popular. "Oh yeah, I have VDs!"
They both totally failed to catch the mouse that was running around our house, so I'm starting to doubt even that!

I often get told mine are labradoodles; when I say they are wheaten terriers, the most common response is "what?"
I think people think it's a made up breed.
Whatever

A beautiful tribute to a stunning girl.
She will always be in your heart.
Life ends, love doesn't.

That is a really tough one. I doubt there would be many options for emergency accommodation with pets, if any.
What about a pet friendly motel or caravan park?

We got Ziggy at 2 1/2 and he's my beautiful boy. He has peed inside once on his first day. Never done it again. He's easy going (except with other dogs as he's dog reactive and with loud noises). Loves cuddles, does what you tell him etc, never chewed anything he wasn't supposed to.
We had no problems whatsoever bonding with Ziggy.
Much more pleasant than raising the devil dog (Anouk).

I love the look of these guys.
Their personality sounds great, too. If they didn't shed, I'd definately want one.
-
Sleep peacefully Oscar. My little Molly girl will look out for you.
Only those who have loved a guinea pig know what awesome pets they can be
-
Depends on the individual dog.
Anouk is so sharp it's amazing. Ziggy, while more obedient, is a little simple.
You can't really judge a dog's intellegence without really knowing a dog.

Cairns crossed with sweetheart definately! I love his little ears ;)
You got me there - I have soft spot for 1 floppy ear
Can I steal him????You're too far away to do that ;) You can babysit if you're in Melbourne or we visit Tassie
It's a deal ;)

The dogs were barking so I went out to check and there was the biggest blue tongue I've ever seen.
The neighbours were whipper snipping the fence line so it must have come from under the fence.
I ran inside to get the dogs leads to drag them away but I was too late ;)
So sad! poor poor lizard.
Buster was foaming at the mouth and threw up after killing it. I think it was just from the excitement and the large amounts of water he drank.
Anouk did this the other month. We weren't home at the time, so the poor thing didn't stand a chance ;)
Dogs will be dogs, however.

That sounds like Ziggy in the bedroom... "where's Ziggy?" "Oh he just got himself locked in the bedroom again"
