  1. But not impossible for it(your dog) to dig a hole is it?To get this over with Rottylover just block this gap/hole or whatever.Who cares who's dog is at fault really, you know there is a hole/gap so whether pups owner does it or you...just do it!At least this way it sets your mind at ease, surely????

The OP took all precautions to ensure the security of her dogs and to keep them contained, the neighbours now need to lift their game and ensure that THEIR pup is safe.

Why is it that no one can accept respopnsibility for their own, you buy a pup you keep it safe, it isn't rocket science.

They have have time to fix this, they haven't.

As far as I can make out here I do not know whose dog is at fault with the hole under the fenceline. As far as Im concerned BOTH owners are now aware of the situation with this hole so to avoid any more controversery someone HAS to fix it!!What is so bloody hard with that,I ask?I have a dog here that goes out of her way to be a 'bitch' with the neighbours dog cos of a small gap in the fenceline and I have done my best with controlling that,so come on these people can do the same thing as far as Im concerned! You LOVE your dog,you will do anything to keep her/him!

  3. Great news, it is just a fatty lump, the Vet checked him out & said he is in remarkable condition for his age, though a lttle fat around the mid section.

So good to hear the news Mantis  .My kelpie who is getting rather old has one of these under her thigh and vet has said to keep an eye on it and if it gets too large it needs to be drained.

  4. What excellent dogs you have & well done too.You can sleep soundly knowing you have good protectors looking out for you.I have had neighbours do this here and just jump into my yard. All my dogs have done is bark madly with the bigger girl(kelpie x) getting her hackles up.Im happy with that cos at least they are giving me warning so I can go out there and deal with it.

  5. Im sorry you had been put in this situation. It wasnt your fault or Dukes.

I wish owners of cats would be more responsible so things like this dont happen.

Hope you are alright and a visit to your own 'vet' is a must to get your wounds checked.

I hope your neighbours wont cause any trouble for you over this either.

  6. How about someone (very nicely) points out the pros and cons of having a westie. I have terriers (MS) and they are a handful. If she can't handle a few days of pee insuide and destruction, she ain't gunno like a terrier.

Megan, hopefully someone who owns a Westie from here or there can do a nice post informing her of the terrier traits maybe. :champagne:

  7. "Puppies on pet shops are another matter. The poor things are confined to a tiny space day and night from a very young age. They have no other option but to toilet in their sleeping area and it becomes 'normal'."

Thanks for this Secretkei, but surely even if it does take a bit longer then,it shouldnt be a reason for giving him back?

Cuchalain,Im sorry I didnt comment on your post but yes I agree with Newfsie too. :champagne:

Oh dear Aint Westies & please correct me if Im wrong a bit of a high maintenaince breed. They have long fur and being white Im sure he will get dirty quick and well mess up her house?IMO,this person shouldnt be even thinking of any sort of dog to own fullstop.

  8. Poor pup, I hope he gets a forever home next. At least they realized that buying from a breeder is the better option, but it took the purchase and return of a puppy to realize that

Hope he gets one too.But what Im wondering about is if you get your pups from a breeder are they already trained not to 'toilet' in their bed?

Yes,Im thankful at least she did return him though.

  9. Steve and I bought a black labrador today

    He is lovely!

We paid $795.00 for him and we also bought him a bed, bowls, shampoo, toys etc

We thought it was a good time to buy one as we are on holidays, so he will have time to bond with us.

    His name is Jet

There are a lot of people congratulating her on getting her Labrador as well as giving her advice.

    Then this..

    Bad news everyone

The reason I haven't been giving any updates is because we had to take Jet back to the pet shop.

I am very upset over the whole thing and have not wanted to discuss it as it has been too painful.

We were having a very hard time with things. We discussed things about Jet regarding what he would be like being left alone when we are both at work for over 9 hours a day. It just would not have been fair on the little guy....I couldn't put him through it, it would be far too long a time for him to be kept in the laundry.

We couldn't keep him outside as he was digging, he was eating and ripping up all our plants, generally running a muck.

We made the mistake of buying him from a pet shop too as he was only used to going to the toilet in his bed. If we got him from a breeder this may not have been the case. We tried for hours and hours a day to get him to go to the toilet outside, while sometimes it worked, 90% of the time it didn't.

Anyway that is not the reason we couldn't keep him. We should have thought about how long he would have to be on his own all the time during the week, 5 days a week. We put him in the laundry for 10 minutes and he could not handle it.

I am very down and have been in some sort of depression all of yesterday and today, I am finding the fact that he is not here very distressing and this is why I could not bring myself to say anything, but now you all know.

Poor puppy! He lasted a total of about 5 days in this household and from what I can make out it was because he was being a puppy and wasnt well behaved & perfect for this person.I think this persons ideal perfect pet should be a goldfish. And he came from a petshop too.. :)

Oops, sorry I got this FROM HERE while I was browsing through it for a recipe. It has made me feel very annoyed that all she is getting is the sympathy in here too.

(Not sure if Im allowed to give that link but if not,admin/MODS please delete it & give me a smack. )

  10. Mongrel through and through, and are horrible usually when mixed together

    Hi CNR,

I must stand up for this little guy cos in the few weeks I have had him until mum took him home he has been nothing but gorgeous. He got on well with both my dogs, esp one that is a cranky ol girl and I loved him to bits myself.I think if you have met horrible ones then maybe it could be a part of the owners input into their behaviour. Please dont blame it on the dog.

Whatever the crossbreed (designer dog for f---wits who have nothing better to spend their money on), I want to see petshops and backyard breeders all stopped in their tracks - VERY SOON.

Here, here Dogmad,I agree with you on this.I had a friend here who purchased a kelpie x lab I think it was and she paid something like $600... I told her off fair n square with that one.

  11. A Maltese x Shih Tzu is a cross breed dog, not a mongrel....provided that either parent was a pure breed of each.

I have always been in the belief that a purebred is one that has both parents of the same breed, that is maltese x maltese etc.The pups produced from that are then purebred?

Tdierikx-Well I dare say the pet shops would sell them at at more higher price here.

Katdogs- Gotta love the name Multi-shits.Yes I can see the problem with people wanting the cute, fluffy adorable little dogs & then dumping them after that.I think its like that with all types of dogs(esp pups) though. But this sort of dog esp,cos I rung another advirtiser and this is what she played on with her 2 litters she had up for sale.

  12. Sorry if this is in the wrong section but wasnt sure where it should go.Im in the belief that this mix is a mongrel. If this is correct then why are people selling them at such prices like $400-500 then? This has come to me becos I acquired a 'freebie' maltese/shitzu here and the lady advirtised her as purebred and well I told her that was a load of hogwash! She got rid of him cos she was moving.I think she should have got rid of her little snot nosed kids cos he is a brilliant little dude & he has now gone on to a lovely lady who will adore him, that is my dear old mum.

  13. Im wanting to buy 2 of these as my one for my girl has snapped and Im also wanting to get one for a friends dog which I will be doing some training with as soon as I can find these.Im not interested in the chain ones either. Can anyone point me in the right direction whether its an online shop or anything?Maybe someone here makes them?

    Thanxs..
