  1. Hey Vickie! Looks like what I trained Vienna and that is exactly how she learnt to back up onto the contact if she came off.. She doesn't turn around and put herself back on.. she backs up and lifts her back legs back into position on the dog walk. All I need to do now is speed up her pace on the dog walk..
  2. Isn't it 10 cockers at the moment??? Ummm yep .. I want to get a t-shirt that says 'I suffer from MSS.. Multiple Spaniel Syndrome'
  3. Of course, we will be there! Team Marelly!!!! Holly and her '4' Cockers!
  4. 1. What is my relationship with the breed? (ie breeder, first time owner etc) Owner for 26 years, competitor in Agility for 9 years. 2. Where and why was the breed first developed? Answered previously 3. How common is it in Australia? Very Common. 4. What is the average lifespan? 14 - 15 years 5. What is the general temperament/personality? Very smart and laid back. I find them active and require a 'job' to keep them truly happy 6. How much daily exercise is needed for the average adult? 20 mins a day 7. Is it a breed that a first time dog owner could easily cope with? Yes, but there is alot of grooming 8. Can solo dogs of this breed easily occupy themselves for long periods? Not really.. need companionship of either human or another dog 9. How much grooming is required? Daily brushing and clipping/grooming monthly 10. Is it too boisterous for very small children or for infirm people (unless the dog is well trained)? No.. if they are well trained, they are perfect for all. Mind you, I have one 3yo bitch who is highly active and requires alot of exercise (she thinks she is a JRT) 11. Are there any common hereditary problems a puppy buyer should be aware of? Answered previously 12. When buying a puppy, what are the things you should ask of the breeder? (eg what health tests have been done (if applicable) and what is an acceptable result to those tests so the buyer has an idea of what the result should be) Health tests, meet the puppies parents, have they been bought up around children
  5. JRT or Cocker.. We have both and all of them love our 14 mth old boy.. He will make his choice when he is older but both would suit your needs! Make sure you go to a registered breeder who breeds for health and temperament. I do know of some JRT puppies who will be available in the next 6mths in Orange NSW. Guaranteed temps. Related to our kids who are TV stars (Hyundai ads etc)
  6. Oi! the Jack Russell pairs was me and OH.. Gyp was his dog and Daph is a similar breeding to all our guys but just staying with us for a while. Was really really funny tho!! I had a brilliant weekend with 6 Q runs... 3 1st's 1 2nd and some minor placings...
  7. I got March today.. but I get it via email/electronic
  8. hehe Vickie.. I finally got my long awaited dog walk the other day! But on the topic of see saws... Vienna has been doing the bang game but nothing else.. At ADC training a couple of weeks ago, she flew over the little see saw in yellow class before I could stop her.. Over she went, it went bang, she stopped at the end and looked at me as if to say 'What was the fuss about' Then on Saturday, I had heart failure.. Vienna flew up a full size see saw.. 'oh shite' I said.. and quickly shoved food in her head as it hit the ground.. Unsettled her a bit but she didn't fly off. Did it twice more and she was fine.. Then put her over the dog walk .. not a problem.. didn't associate the two.. No more see saws until I get one at home.. No 2o2o for see saw for me and I am currently working on running a-frame. Dog walk she has been taught to run over really quickly but now back training 2o2o.
  9. I am planning on attending watch out for the Cockers!
  10. I will be there anyway for the Festival of Agility!
  11. Well done! great shots you should be very proud of yourself and Kaos :D
  12. When they go to Lure Coursing.. cuddles is the last thing on their minds.. The Devil takes possesion of my 3 and they turn into monsters intent on only one thing... killing the plastic bag!
  13. Sounds good mcbeal... Some breeders sell older puppies (that may have not turned out as show dogs) for a smaller amount. They have lost their cute stage but have had all the shots etc.. Fingers crossed...
  14. No.. Alana from Cadbilly... http://www.users.bigpond.com/gary.hopson/cadbilly/
  15. I own a Chocolate/Liver roan bitch (special child as she is ). Vienna is currently 10mths and I have an agreement with her breeder. There are only 2 breeders who I could recommend, who currently breed chocolate and they are my breeder Kistenwales (Vi Catley) and Alana (who lives up on the Central Coast but I just can't remember her prefix, but she breeds on the Runcorn lines). Best to hold off and save your pennies and get exactly what you want.. Here is a photo of the 'special child'
  16. No.. not going this year.. but OH is... he is judging
  17. Poocow.. Darcy is an angel compaired to Fleur... Sue who owns Fleur is on holidays but when she gets back... you will know who I mean when you see her!
  18. Manly do agility on Saturday mornings ;) Lots of cockers go there... :D ;)
  19. Hiya Pax! Does she have a website or email ? I kinda want one now.. I don't think we are up your way for while :D
  20. Hello, I am after a good heavy duty slip/tug lead. I have seen the ones on Clean Run but don't want to pay the postage from the USA. Vienna just loves to tug but I don't want to have to carry around a toy all the time.. Anyone have any suggestion on where I might find them in Australia ? Many thanks!
  21. Manly Dog Training Club (Narrabeen) resumes this Saturday, as does Northern Suburbs (at St Ives)...
  22. ADM for Maverick and if I am really really lucky.. ADM for Mai Mai - AAC (ADAA Championship) Maverick IAD (ADAA International) Nothing for Vienna.. just going to take it as it comes with her as she is such a lil fireball...
  23. Hiya Amerykus! Thanks for the big pat on the back for Eddy, I am sure he will be touched. Manly trains on Saturday mornings and I think Hawkesbury are fairly liberal minded. Private lessons are good. I know Le and Keith do lessons at St Ives on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Deltacharlie - I am pretty sure I know who you are talking about. Seems strange that she is so against certain breeds when she is a strong supporter of DD's....
