  1. Thanks for all your suggestions, I will contact each company and then decide who to go with. I'll let you know how we go.
  2. Thanks for the replies. Do you know if K9Pro do sessions at your own home or only in there training facility. I would prefer to have it at home, as one of our dogs also gets car sick!
  3. Hi I am looking for a professional dog trainer / behavourist in the liverpool area of Sydney. I have 2 male beagles 4.5 yrs old and nearly 4 years old. We need some professional help. One of the main issues include pulling on the lead when walking. We could also do with some help with jumping up and general doggie manners. They have been to puppy school and some group dog training but I think we need more one on one, with our two dogs together, possibly at home, so they can see the issues we are having. I have found several trainers using google, but would be good to have a recommendation. I asked our vet but they were unable to give any recommendations. Thanks in advance. Michelle
  4. We had a pretty scary encounter the other day. We were out walking our two beagles, on lead, my husband walks the dogs and I was walking with pram and our baby. We were nearly home when two dogs off lead came charging towards us and grabbed one of our dogs by the neck. Our two dogs were hurt, not seriously, one of them had a cut that was bleeding on his side and one his nose and the other had his foot cut. There were no owners of the two other dogs. My husband tried to pull our dogs away and eventually, they ran off. We don't want this to happen again but also don't want to stop walking our dogs, as they need a walk. What do you do in this situation. Is there any kind of spray or something that you can buy if this was to happen again. Thanks in advance.
  5. My puppy is also 6 months old. He loves to sit on the table and also will rip up paper (or anything that is left around). At times he also drives me crazy but I have to keep telling myself he is still a puppy.
  6. Thanks for all your replies. I took Randy for a walk last night about 20-25 mins, he seemed tired but then suddenly got lots of energy back about half an hour later. Husky - im glad your beagle is similar size to mine, I was beginning to get worried.
  7. These pictures were taken about 2 weeks ago.
  8. Its definently a beagle and I have only been feeding him premium dog food eukanuba according to the directions on the pack, he doesn't get many treats at all, I do a lot of training (sit etc) with this food allocation. Perhaps our scales are out. But he was nearly 10kg when we went to the vet for his 16 week needle and he seemed to think he was healthy. I do have some pics, I will load them up later today.
  9. Hi everyone I have a 5 1/2 month old beagle, that is very active. (as im sure all beagles are) I was told not to walk him when he was young, can I start walking him now? If so, how long should I walk him for? He is now 15kg, he runs alot in the yard and we play games with him, but I think a good walk would be good. He loves new places. any help is appreicated. Shel
  10. Hi everyone, We gave our 4.5 month beagle his first bone last night. He loved it and just wouldn't leave it alone for hours. It also gave him something to chew that he liked - a big help for our hands that have been the substitute till now. Im no expert but if you are having problems with a biting puppy I suggest getting a meaty bone from the butcher. Shel
  11. Erin, your beagles are very cute. I have been using kibble with baby food (apple & pear). Today I tried sardines (they are so smelly but he loves them). I think I need a few of these they seem to be empty in about 10 mins. Shel
  12. I just ordered some pet food from these guys, I noticed on there website it mentioned pet minding. They are in Dural. http://www.petsonthepark.com.au/webcontent4.htm Shel
  13. This may sound like a stupid question, in relation to mince and chicken do you give it to them raw or cooked?
  14. Thanks for all your tips, I have done a search on google for recipes and I found heaps. I was a little concerned about some of the things suggested in the recipes i found as I want to ensure a healthy diet for my pup. Like cheese, peanut butter, yoghurt, as they ok to give your pup everyday? Till now he has only had eukabana and beef liver treats.
  15. I got a kong on the weekend for Randy. I put a bit of peanut butter and his dry kibble, he seemed to love it. What ideas do others have on what to put into a kong? Thanks shel
  16. Should you growl or say no if you are holding or just wait until they calm down. What I tried last night was holding mouth closed for a few moments, growling and then let go. Shel
  17. I tried a whole egg shell and all in my puppy's breakfast this morning and he seems to love it. Thanks for the tip
  18. I tried this last night, it is actually hard to grab his mouth to hold it together, but when I did he seems to back off. So perhaps this will work. I will stick with it for a little while, see how I go. Thanks
  19. My puppy keeps biting, I think it is getting worse and I don't know what to do. He is a 10.5 week old beagle. I have tried no, yelping, putting him outside with no attention, squirting water, distracting him with toys. Nothing seems to work. Its getting to the point where you can't really play with him, cause all he wants to do is bite you. And he jaw and teeth are getting much stronger. He has heaps of toys to bite. I start puppy school in a week, hopefully the trainer can help me but he seems to like new places, so I have a feeling he will be on his best behaviour and they wont be able to see what we mean. Any ideas. Thanks Shel
  20. I did take him to the vet last wed and reported this problem. The vet checked it and just gave him the frontline plus. But now he doesn't have any fleas. I didn't like that vet very much though. Should i go again? Shel
  21. Hi My puppy keeps scratching and biting his leg. It looks like it is getting red and sore, what can I do to stop him doing it and fix it. He doesn't have fleas, as I have used frontline plus and I have checked and can find nothing. I also bathed him on the weekend to try to help. Thanks Shel
  22. I have enroled my little beagle into puppy school starts 6 Mar, he will be nearly 12 weeks old by then. I'm really looking forward to it. Shel
