  1. Hi storm, lovely meeting you and yogi, she is very sweet and is lucky she has been rehomes with you. Keep in touch , happy to help.
  2. Hi give me a call , I am a newf breeder just near you , Marburg vet is great. Sue 0411141443
  3. Marburg are amazing, better than any vets I've seen in Brisbane
  4. I'm not showing this year as I will have pups, there could be one but not confirmed if going
  5. Congrats Shiela, best of luck with the babies . Look forward to more pics as they grow
  6. Great news, about 4 weeks too late for me though, just sold my hose in Logan shire and moved to acreage miles away due to the 2 dog restriction, and now I could have 9! Lucky I love my farm
  7. Hi MacG, as the puppy coat is really thick, often even when you have rinsed and rinsed , shampoo or conditioner may not be completely rinsed from the coat, especially the rump area (when they sit down, this is where all the water goes ) I would suggest using aloveen or similar mild shampoo and hydro bath him so you get a really deep to the skin clean, rinse and rinse some more and then blow dry him til he is totally dry, this way there is no moisture left in the coat to cause dandruf and hot spots. Good luck
  8. Just yesterday,,Mum calls up as son wants a Newfy puppy.Discussion goes like this.. How old is son? 17years old Well he must have good job if he can afford to feed and care for a newfy? long pause.. As he is 17 I am sure his life will changeover the next 10 years, what happens if he cant keep the dog, do you want a Newfy? No! I dont want one she says Well thats Ok but I am afraid I would not sell him one anyway. Why not? she asks Sigh.... Had another guy that called 3 to 5 times a day!! twice at 6am just to ask a question. He then turned up at a show and was very strange, sorry no pups available.
  9. I used a snuggle safe disk with a recent litter, it was great stay wwarm for ages and no leads. I also have 2 of the heat pads with the quilted covers on the link, they were good but did get abit too hot at times.
  10. Thanks everyone, the pups dont leave here until nearly 11 weeks, maybe I am being paranoid with the number of Parvo cases around. Will wait till 8 weeks, as this is preferable. It is interesting how often the imunisation recomendations change. Will check with my vet about the new Vacine. Thanks again.
  11. My litter was born on a Tuesday and as I am back at work I can only get to the vets on a weekend, should I have their needles and checks at 5 weeks and 4 days or wait until 6 weeks and 5 days? What do you all do?
  12. Was at the emergency vets at Springwood over the easter break and we were chatting about pups and I was told of many cases of Parvo, dozens I was told, and other nasty things around at the moment. Vacination is not a 100% garentee but will reduce severity if they do happen to pick up the bugs. I think I would be very carefull with young pups ATM even if they have been vacinated.
  13. Cocidiosis will cause mucus in poos, the vet should have a look at a sample to rule out this or any other parisitic problem. I would gt a stool check done.
  14. These are a good design, The zip back is easy to get on. I bought a 30cm one like this on Friday, Wag Wear brand in Red with dark grey edging $18.95,
  15. Newfy pups are here! 4 boys and 2 girls.700gr to840 gr.nice strong babies
  16. congrats 2ps. beautiful babys. We have a c section at 7.30 in the morning!!
  17. I have some of these collars ready for my newfy litter. I am happy to just send you some photos when the pups are born in a few days. You can use them if you want. They seem to be a great collar. Just a note: I bought them only due to seeing them on a large breed in an advert, so I know they would fit all sizes.
  18. do the taping sooner rather than later. google ear taping, there is lots of great utube and web sites to show you how, They do hate it to start with but get used to it. Shave the ears as suggested and change tapes every 3 to 5 days
  19. So very cute wolfden, the colars look good, I have bought some, just waiting for pups to put the on
  20. I spoke to my vet about this as my girls scan showed 4 re absorbs and at least 8 or 9 live pups. She said that it can be infection (my girl was swabbed at day 9 of her season and was clear, though could be a deeper or mild infection), can be abnormalities in the pup or uterine wall or a weak or no implant to the uterine wall, or stress. She told me they had recently biopsied a bitch that continuely re aborbed pups and found that the re absorbs were sacs of pus & muck and in a moist warm envioronment bacteria will grow easily and can effect other fetus's. My girl was put on anti biotics and rescanned a week later and no more reabsords to be seen. Fingers crossed all is still well in there
  21. You would need to lease the bitch, easy and not expensive, I tried to register a joint prefix with another breeder to breed a co owned bitch but as the other person already had a QLD prefix we could not do it. So we set up the joint prefix with her husband and myself then we also had to transfer a lease on the bitch into joint names to match the prefix. lots of mucking about but we did it and have had done this with 3 girls now. Still the other breders name is not on the pups only her husbands but we transfer the pups to be owned either individually or in another partnership. I think QLD is the only state that works this way. 1 prefix only allowed.
  22. Thanks everyone, yes she is eating chicken thighs bones and all. Still all she will eat happily I tried sardines, nope, puppy food nope, have bought some cat food, will give it a try I have got nutigel now and was also advised to give incramin iron suppliment, wil give her these tonight. BBQ chicken was ok she ate some, she is huge and uncomfortable poor girl. 5 days left to go....
  23. My girl has 1 week to go before she has pups, she is now refusing all food besides raw chicken thighs. I have tried mince, steak, eggs, dry food, even tinned dog food and fish. She just wont touch it. I am just a bit conserned about her nutritionally as this has been going on for a week already. Any thoughts on what else I could add?
  24. Organisation and people who you trust to help are the big ones I have a litter due in 8 days, I have aranged for my best friend, also an experienced breeder, to come up from NSW for 3 weeks. I am paying for her 2 dogs to be in boarding kennels and fuel, small wage etc We get on really well and can deal with each others tired moodyness and have done this before. I have 100% trust in her so it makes it easy. She will arrive 3 days before due date and I have also taken 2 weeks off myself. We do a full 24/7 watch for 2 weeks so very tiring. I have the whelping box set up and a single bed made and ready beside it. We also have a third friend coming in over the first few days to help out as expecting a large litter. Good luck
  25. Some interesting info here. I have not use it but saw that Pat Barn have it in stock
