  1. Oh I love this site!! It is such a relief that its not just my dog pooing on pavers close to the house! I think the weather plays a big part...but he likes to poo in the garage which is not good as you much watch your step getting out of the car!! I think because it is warmer in there and out of the cold and wet weather...but not near his bed/food or main living/enteraining area...though in the last week...he has pooed closer to his bed and in the main pergola area... I am going to pressure hose down all the pavers and also try and find some of that deterant spray! Also this weekend fence off the garage so he cant go in there anymore...perhaps moving his poos to the back of the yard will attract him to go there?? Here's hoping!!
  2. My Staffy pup (nearly 5 months old) is also teething and as a result is mouthing/biting me and himself more! He has HEAPS of toys to chew on but i think he thinks i taste better or something!! haha How long does teething phase last for?? (this is my first pup!) Here are som pics of my pup with my parents...his first time at the beach!! (I was in NZ and missed it...but they sent me the pics so I wouldnt miss it!...so sweet!)
  3. Ok...Update time... Mr Darcy has ended up going to Puppy Pre-school at the Belmont Ave Vet Clinic...its fairly close to home, runs for 4 weeks for an hour each time...his first class was last wed night...it was only a small group with 5 puppies in total in a small room...but first week was ok...he seemed to enjoy it and played with all the other puppies...he is certainly not scared of other dogs and wants to play. A few of others were more reserved puppies but i think in the next few weeks, they will come out of their shells and play too! hope so! It was Mr D's first time on a leash that night and also first car ride with me driving and him in a travel crate thing...he cried a bit in the car, but if i ignored his cries, he tended to quieten down...so hopefully he will get used to the car drives...
  4. Ok...I have taken the plunge and am booking Mr Darcy into the Belmont Ave Vet clinic...apparently they are half way through classes at the moment, so he will start there in a couple of weeks! Its a 4 week course...will let you all know how it all goes! I pick him up tomorow night!!! How exciting...just one more sleep to go! I must madly go around and puppy-proof the house tonight! I have next week off work so i can spend time with him settling him into the new house and also for toilet training etc...Cant wait!
  5. I was originally looking at that one. It sounded fantastic but isn't the puppy preschool held in a park? So I was worried about Parvo. We will definitely be going there for obedience training when he's older (had full vaccinations) though. I want to change puppy preschool now. But O.H wants to give them another chance and then change if the aggressive pup is still there. -Elise So how is the puppy pre-school going now? Has it improved at all?? I really need to find somewhere good to go soon...as i now am able to get my puppy THIS friday night!! Only 3 more sleeps!! Cant wait!! Hope all is going well with your little one! ;) Jen
  6. Thanks...please do let me know who you go with in the end and what days/times they are run if they appear to be good!...I still have 12 days til i get my puppy...and counting! haha...I cannot wait!! Here is another photo!!
  7. Oh...thats a shame about your first experience (and your pup's) with the puppy preschool... :D I will not be taking my little man there then! Thank you for letting me know...I hope for your sake it gets better and if not, then maybe better luck going somewhere else?! Hmm...tough one!! Here is some more photos of my boy and his siblings and mum! ... Mine is in the green collar!
  8. Thank you Elise! Yes please do let me know how they are! And how you and your pup get on with it! I have seen that a few vets do the puppy preschool thing but i dont think my local vet does it unfortunately ... I have heard that Belmont vet does and have emailed them to find out details, though i would prefer to hear of somewhere great to take my pup! :D So would love to hear feedback from people first hand to ensure my little man goes to a great school where he and i can learn all that we can and he can become socialised from early on also! By the way...I am attempting to attach a photo of my little guy taken a week and a half ago on one of my many pre-ownership visits!! Isnt he ADORABLE!! hehe
  9. Hello all! This is my first time writing on this website... I am about to get my new staffy puppy in two weeks time (when he turns 8weeks old)! I am all excited and cant wait for him to be living with me!! He currently is living across the road with his mum and the rest of the his litter...(my neighbour is a registered breeder and a great one at that! hehe) so i get to visit him now...but cant wait til he is living with me! I am currently looking into "Puppy Pre-school" as i want to get him trained early on...from day one!...and also as it is my very first dog (of my own) i want to learn as much as i can...as i want to be a good and responsible dog owner with a well behaved and not out of control puppy/dog! If anyone knows of a good place that runs a Puppy Pre-school in and around Perth (I live in Forrestfield but am happy to travel to somewhere worth it!) please let me know! And any advice on getting the puppy settled in the first few days/weeks would be greatly appreciated!!
