  1. Honestly Rooster if your at your wits end with it I would firstly say ahaha then blow up the pup's nose - they really don't like it!
  2. Thank you, sounds like the perfect plan! I think he is a pretty smart boy so I'm sure I will be able to let you know in a couple of weeks that we are doing well! Thanks again
  3. :D HELP!!!!!!! How on earth do I teach Benson to stay still when I'm trying to brush him and not to chew me and the brush??? I have tried toys to entertain him, treats (like a bone) to distract him and doing it when he is sleepy but brushing just wakes him up again. Any suggestions fellow puppy owners?
  4. Oh my - I would be mortified! You poor thing and naughty puppy! I know this will sound weird and I'm not sure it would work but my partner Chris pretends to cry like a puppy sometimes and Benson stops whatever he is doing - even digging in his sand and come running over to him, like he is going to be able to help Chris out. I'm sure though there are other more helpful ways out there, but we are starting puppy school on the 6 may so don't know yet. One other thing there is a couple of books on Dog Whispering written by the founder of Dog Tech which is a company all about fixing problems with dogs without hitting or bark collars etc. So check this website out it might help. http://www.dogtech.com.au/index.html GOOD LUCK!!!
  5. Benson too! I say ahah, in a stern voice and if he still wants to bite my hands I blow my breath up his nose and he hates that! I can't use water either cause he would just want to play! GOOD LUCK!!!
  6. Hi There I'm a first time mum to a dog, so I am certainly not an expert. But what I have found that seems to work for Benson my 8 wk old Golden is playing vigorously for at least 30 mins before leaving, making the puppy run and dig (if you have a sandpit set up) then make sure he has two fluffy toys that he/she can sink it's teeth into, a lamb shank a pigs ear, a tennis ball and somewhere safe to sleep and water of course and then I suppose whenever you get home repeat the running around lilke crazy thing. See I got Benson at 7 wks and had one week off work with him and taught him that I would be coming back eventually by using the same phrase mine is "see you soon" even though I might have been going to the shower or out to the shops etc. Now I am away from the house for about 8 & 1/2 hrs mon-fri and I think he sleeps alot then as well chews on his bone and pigs ear. Hope this helps! Susan & Benson
  7. Hi There Look I'm absolutely no expert as you can tell from my title I'm sure, but there is a man by the name of Justin that runs 8 puppy classes around North Brisbane areas from a company called Dogtech. http://www.dogtech.com.au here is the website - I'm sure he will be able to help if you are unsuccessful on your own! Good Luck Susan & Benson
  8. Hi THere My puppy and I went to our first class of puppy pre-school last night and the trainer had a few suggestions - the pet shop stop chew sprays, the vicks vapour rub and areogaurd (insect repellant). Good Luck but I would say invest in lamb shanks and pigs ears!!!
  9. Hi There My Benson is only 8 weeks and 3 days old and I have had him for 1 week and 3 days at home. At first he wouldn't eat his biscuits much either (Hills Science Diet - Large Breed for Puppies) but I have combined it with half a slightly wisked egg and boiled rice and now he is eating like a trooper. Also pigs ears and small lamb shanks with a fair bit of the meat removed so it doesn't fill them up are great chew toys on top of their other toys. If the lamb shanks are large at the butcher ask them to cut them in half. As everyone is saying though cheaper dry food is not great because it has more go juice in it and makes them hyper as my friend who is a vet said. It kind of be like you drinking red bulls all day long. Try the egg over the biscuits - Im sure your baby will be eating all his biscuits in no time! Good luck and have fun! If your having as much fun as I have been I bet you could sleep for years
