  1. I too am thinking of joining Keilor OC - when do they train? - i am wanting to start agility aswell - how old does your dog have to be?
  2. personality plus! He is gorgeous!
  3. I went to Michaels Camera house and they told me that no other brand lens is compatible with the Nikon D80 that I have, they said i have to buy nikon lenses only. I have seen on ebay lots of different types of brands for alot cheaper than the nikon ones. if this isnt the case do you know of any good Macro lens that fit the nikon d80 or any large zoom lenses like 400mm. i have seen on ebay before the nikon 300mm-400mm VR for like $7,000.
  4. I wish too! The only thing you have to remember is the expense on extra lenses and accessories. I kinda regret buying a Nikon cos everything is soooo expensive for them and they arnt compatible with other brands.
  5. I have found that using this techique darkens the image which is why it is probably a "darkroom technique". Is there anyway to sharpen without darkening the image? Even if I life the saturation it's just not quite the same.
  6. Hey you photoshop experts does the "unsharp mask" tool sharpen photos or blur them? I have been using it and i think it is sharpening my images alittle but i am confused about it's name! To get a photo to be crisply sharp is the unsharp mask tool the one to use? thanks!
  7. Hi Guys! I am looking for a good agility club around Essendon/Keilor area in Victoria. I have started teaching my 6 month old weave poles and jumping over tiny, tiny jumps that are like 15cm off the ground. I am wanting to find an agility club that starts from Novice all the way up to Advanced. Thanks!
  8. Does any one have Garry Barnsley's number? THANKS!
  9. Congrats on your buy! I put a UV filter on my lens purely to protect the lens. Its better to replace a filter because of a stratch than a whole lens! I dont find it makes my photos any darker though. Have fun!
  10. Ah yes, i get the odd one that turns out ok but the magority look terrible. I only got one nice one of that black standard poodle because all the rest had terrible colour and even then i think the colour isnt perfect. I did some photos for someone not long ago and I took about 30 photos, only 4 came out that were acceptable. I am booked to do some photos for a friend this weekend and they have a black dog, ahhh, lol.
  11. Read the thread lower down on a good photography book. Find a copy of "Understanding Exposure". Grab a copy and read it, and all will become clear. Seriously, a lot of what a good image is about is balancing the lights and darks. That's why only capable photographers do weddings, where the dark suit of the groom, the white bridal gown, and the light or dark (in church) background need to be shown in detail, without over-blowing highlights. It is an excellent book and puts it all down very understandably. A look at this book is worth a hundred fuzzy explanations on a forum. You don't need an expensive dslr outfit to make exposure work for you: the most basic point-and-shoot cameras still use the same principles. (I couldn't connect to your Smugmug gallery - are you still there?) Hi Possum! Thanks for the info, I may have to get a copy of that book... there is so much to learn! I have the D80 nikon SLR, so it's not a cheap camera. I swear though when i first bought it, it took alot of "click and delete" before i started getting photos that i felt were good enough. i still have my smugmug: http://k-tanner.smugmug.com/ Thanks Katie
  12. I have been having this problem when taking photos of black dogs. The colour seems really washed out, or over-exposed. Does anyone know why this is happening? I am shooting on auto settings. Thanks!
  13. Hi Freckles, How did you blur/edit the background on the flower photo? Did you use photoshop? How did you do it? Thanks
  14. OK, my dog has a few FLEAS and its really bugging me! I used frontline plus a few days ago and it seems he has even more fleas now. 4 paws and more recommended i treat his bedding, so i did with some chemical spray stuff. Anyway i am wanting to give him a bath in something that will kill the adult fleas but dont want anymore chemical products. I have read Apple Cider Vinegar can help to kill fleas by putting it in his water and bathing him in it. Does anyone know if this actually works? Can someone tell me how it actually helps fleas by putting it in my dogs water for him to drink? Does he secrete it out of his skin or something? thanks!
