  1. Well I dont have a rescue. But I do suffer from people mistaking my dogs for designer mutts. I have Portuguese Water Dogs and I have to say I hate royal shows. Every second person is an expert and tells me how they have a "doodle" at home that looks just like my dog, but yours is better trained and more relaxed!!! I could kill someone after a day at the show. I clearly have signs that say Portuguese water dog. I have met people at the beach before that have what they think are mastiff crosses, that are definately only am staffs.
  2. Well I have 2 Portuguese Water Dogs and they get called "doodles" all the time. I hate Royal Shows. All the stupid questions come out then. What sort of fish do they catch? So they like water? Can they see with all that hair? Grrrrr
  3. Hi I did the ET a few months ago in WA with my Portuguese Water Dog. We passed making him the first ET titled PWD in WA and only the third one in Australia (behind his mum and dad). My dog decided he didnt like running next to the bike for the last few laps, so I ran the last 6km with him!!!! I was not giving up then. We made it and I was so sore for the next week. Good luck I hope its easier for you. Megan
  4. Hi I know this subject has been asked before but I have contacted the vet Liz, who was recommended as a Chiro and was told she doesnt do it any more (cant quite remember it was awhile ago). Does anyone know of any other doggie Chiro's in Perth??? Or have any suggestions for me??- My 5.5 year old PWD bitch just doesnt want to run next to the bike anymore or go on my doggie treadmill, even though she used to do it all the time. She is a little over weight (maybe 3kgs). She runs around with the other dogs but tends to just be lazy. I was thinking maybe her back/neck is out from playing all the time? Thanks
  5. I cook sausages and chop them up for dog training. Or cook a sheep liver in the microwave and chop that into small pieces. But that tends to make your hand smell bad and can upset your doggies tummy if they have too much (learnt that the hard way!!). I also use those free sample bags of dog biscuites as treats, just cause its something different than my dogs normally get.
  6. Hi BigBlueTyson I am assuming you are a registered breeder, who is going to show your boy and do all the relevant health and temperament testing on your dog before breeding?? And if he doesnt turn out, desex him? Just having a quick look on the dogzonline breed profile for staffordshire bull terriers there are a few hereditary diseases that responsible breeders test their dogs for (PHPV, PPSC, Distichiasis, and HC and DNA for L2-HGA and Hereditary Cataracts). There are more than enought dogs suffering from preventable hereditary diseases because BYB and unresponsible registered breeders, looking to make money dont test their dogs before breeding. Please do the right thing.
