I make a pile of his dung in the yard where the boy is to do his business. Feed in the morning, he will use his bowels hopefully later in the day when the grass is dry.

My fellow does the same. if I can move the joint and gently twist to leg with no reaction, i'll rest him for a couple of days. Terriers are just that.
