  1. Hi Prodigybxr, I'b get an MRI done too.

Having lost 2 boxers - one definitely from a brain tumor, and one from either a brain or pancreatic tumor, any sign of any seizure in a boxer is worrying for me, as they both had seizures as the first indication.

I hope in your case, it is something less sinister. My thoughts and good wishes are with you both.

    Thankyou Jed.

I am somewhat optimistic, but also, realistic.

$1500 is alot just to know either way  But she is more than worth it.

  2. I do think if it was the air freshener it may have happened a lot sooner. I hope it is the air freshener and all

    seizures stop.

Yep, that crossed my mind, also. But then I thought of the 'build up over time', then 'bang', thing

    Thanks for your thoughts.

And thanks also for the suggestion, Polomum. Will do some reading.

  3. Ok, back from the vet. All bloodwork was completely normal.

Vet is inclined to think a brain tumour, to which he wants to prescribed Cortisone.

I am opting to get an MRI done tomorrow for my piece of mind and to hopefully getting a definative answer on what I am dealing with.

  4. Insecticide and some form of alcohol-based aromatheraphy---they all caused my friend's Sibe to go into miserable fits.

Thanks for the input. It gives me hope that there may be a reason less sinister behind this.

It scares the crap out of me!! I was up with every little noise last night

  5. Hi,

My 12 and a half yr old dog has had a couple of concerning 'episodes'.

This dog is very bright, energetic and seemingly very healthy for her age.

However, on Saturday, she was playing with her ball and all of a sudden fell onto her side, stiffened slightly and was somewhat wide and glassy eyed( but otherwise aware of her surroundings, I think).

Now tonight, she was sound asleep on the couch, and suddenly threw herself back, and did as above.

Obviously given her age, I am aware that there may be something sinister starting all of this, to which I will get her checked out tomorrow. However, this has got me thinking about whether there may be something she has been newly exposed to ect

The only thing I could come up with is, 2 weeks ago, I purchased one of those automatic air freshener things, that spray scent every 10mins or whatever.

    It has me wondering??

I have always reared my dogs naturally, and avoided pumping chemicals and crap into their bodies, so I am wondering about this air freshener stuff.

    Perhaps wishful thinking, though?

    Any thoughts appreciated.

  6. Glory,

Another suggestion, which helped me with Mia- is to have someone other than yourself, to go back periodically to re-enforce the position. I had someone go back and feed. Starting gradual, with ISS. Ie: you take 2 or 3 steps and the other person rewards her holding her position, then build on that until you then go out of sight.

Rani and Mia both don't like the seperation element of Out of Sights- and I found this method took 'the heat' off me.

  7. :cheer: I have a brag :( I have a  brag

:cheer: I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO BRAG I went to Werribee today and my Bindii got a pass and her CDX title

but wait theres more we won the ring  I am so proud of her she has overcome a lot of obstacles

    \ Glorybea

Well done Glory and gorgeous little Bindi :cheer: I know how hard you work with your little ones- that is great news!

    Jodie and Mia

  8. Many thanks for the explanation

In photoshop I copied the layer then change the setting in the layers pallete from normal to multiply and put it to about 25 or so. Then went to the shadow/highlights menu selection and pushed the highlights bar to 'darken' the image.

There may be an easier way to do it but basically it is fixing a slightly over exposed image.

Its only a suttle change but adds a tiny bit more colour to the white areas and slightly darkens the black areas of her face.

Youd have to experiment with the camera but note the settings the camera has taken the photos on and just change the aperture up one so the image is slightly underexposed (according to what the camera is saying) and see if that makes a difference in the colour at all. Its quite tricky to get the photo right in the camera as most things are dark (like the leaves etc) but her coat is very light. But you dont want to go too far and darken her face too much.

I have a black dog and even after all these years it can be tricky to get the light just right for her.

  9. Thanks for replying.

No- the pic hasn't been printed.

This was taken today under total cloud(on auto)- I don't know...she just seems to photgraph very 'blinding'

Then again-pehaps I am expecting too much from the camera.
