  1. would say, go to their website maybe you can find something there....
  2. You can try using the coat king. That will cut through the knots and take out excess hair. Be aware though if you comb too much in 1 spot you will get a bold spot. Otherwise what you can try is to cut the knot in half with the length of the hair and than comb out the loose hair. hope this helps
  3. yes that will be fine, otherwise I should have 1 that you can borrow I might be a bit later as my daughter is not home from dancinglessons until 5.25pm (I have to leave at 5.30 and she needs to eat off course). cya there tonight
  4. I am hoping to come with my new puppy Fern but a lot will depend on my 2 leggged kids as my daughter dances till 5.30 and it is a 45min drive for me
  5. I am pretty sure there are classes in Caboolture. but don't know what evening or cost....
  6. I am more or less forced to do a clipping course (due to demand of current customers). Now I need a good set of clippers. The compagny is advising the Whall KM-SS but I have heard that they are prone to overheating? The sort of clip I will be doing is more or less a summer clip/shave and or tidy of face and feet. So the question is what brand/model is the best. It will be mainly border collies/golden retreivers/ poodle crosses that I expect to be clipping.
  7. Hi Lisa, I used to go there but due to laziness and being pregnant I haven't been back this year. Yes they only train on a monday night, they have agility training and ring runouts on a wednesday night but your dog must be at least in class 3 before he can go... Metro is a voluntary run club but IMO pretty good, I still reccomend them to my customers on a regular basis. Metro is a big club. I think has now roughly 80-100 dogs every monday night. Other than that, have a look monday night, just leave Oscar at home and you can look and ask questions. The trailing class is from 7-7.45pm, all other classes from 8pm till 8.45pm but make sure you are there no later than 7.45 if you want to sign up so you don't miss the start of the class. Have fun there....
  8. I am in Arana Hills, more than welcome to come here too. Whereabouts are you on the northside?
  9. My dogs are trained mainly in Dutch and I do trail with 1 of them. As long as you let your judge know you use another language it is normally not a problem. The only question I get is: "Are they single words?". I say yes. Appearatly they had a German bloke a few years back who gave commands in sentences and they could not tell whether he was talking to the dog or giving commands.
  10. I have quite a few customers who like to have their dog bathed weekly. They pay around $25 per week (brisbane prices) and are very happy to do so. Some of them have been doing it for over 5 years now. But each for their own. I can't look in your budget so it is up to you to decide what you want to do. You can buy a new one (at around $1500) or have somebody in for 60 washes.... :D
  11. hydrobath is absolutely great and well worth the investment. Or why not get a professional groomer in.....
  12. Hi all, I received this email today; Important information……… The March 16 race meeting has been cancelled due to major work being conducted on the grounds. The race meeting planned for April 13 will be proceeding, however it will be run on the cricket ground at Wally Tate Park, the field next to our usual grounds…. The final run for the Summer Cup will be held on this day and the Annual General meeting will also be held… Please attend to participate in these events and to hear some really exciting news in relation to the future of our grounds…. Please pass on the information to individuals you might know who are not current members who have been considering coming down and giving their dog a fun day lure coursing. All the best….we look forward to seeing you all in April! QLCA Committee
  13. Don't worrie Kelpiesrule. you won't do as bad as I did last saturday! Mili had the "luck" that at the moment we went in the ring the wind picked up bringing the smells in of bacon being BBQ-ed (for my kids ). She was entered in CD and doing well at training but in a trail..... we had 15 points for heeling and 60 for the stays, other than that 0's
  14. often what i find with my customers is that they treat the dogs but not the cat (as the cat always seems clean and appears not to have fleas); don't move furniture if they bomb themselfs (where the majority of eggs/larvea will be); don't seem willing to find out where investation is coming from (too much hassle...) for myself, I used to use Frontline and never had a flea. For one or other unexplained reason I changed to Advantix 3 month ago and since than my dogs have fleas. Only 1-4 but still. Now I am forced to bomb the house myself...
  15. Fleas can live in the dirt outside walkways and in shady area's. The larvea can dig up to 7cm deep (where the flea killers/ surface sprays don't work). This is why you have to regulair bomb the house and yard (following directions on package) so as soon as the larvea hatch into adult fleas and resurface the surface spray kill them...
  16. if you bomb the house yourself make sure you move all furniture as most eggs, larvea and puppea will be under the furniture and outside the walkways good luck
  17. I would say contact purina one and ask them. most compagny's are very happy to answer questions...
  18. I would say, give Advantage a call and ask them. it might be coinsidense (sp?). You should find the number on the Advantage box
  19. In brisbane (level 5) you are allowed to bath your dog in a hydrobath. Generaly with a hydrobath you use up to 25ltrs. Strangely enough you are still allowed to bath the dog under the hose (what uses aroun 100ltrs of water)... TAKEN FROM: Pine Rivers Shire QLD level 5 water restrictions 7 . A n i m a l a n d P e t C a r e Restrictions on Residential and Non-Residential water use Category of Water Use Water Restriction 7.1 Residential and Non- Residential Premises Animal husbandry. For such premises, water from the reticulated (town) supply system is not permitted to be used for animal husbandry purposes except where it can be demonstrated: a: that: A: if a rainwater storage facility is not installed on the premises by 10 April 2007, such a facility will be installed on the premises by 31 December 2007; and B: all available water from a rainwater storage facility installed on the premises will be used for animal husbandry purposes before any water from the reticulated (town) water supply system is used for those purposes; and b) the water is used for animal welfare and survival purposes including for: A: the provision of drinking water; or B: washing the animals, provided that if a hose is used for this purpose, only a hand held hose is used; or C: cleaning of animal pens and enclosures with a high pressure water cleaning unit. 7.2 Residential and Non-Residential Premises Care of pets. 20. Not sure what you mean there Poodlefan, I operate a Mobile grooming business & ALL our dogs are washed in fresh water, and also rinsed in clean fresh water. If you are not happy with what your groomer is doing then don't take it back. I have a fantastic rapport with all my clients, & make a point of know EXACTLY what is required. We are not all bad !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing sinister Silverblue - I meant if you don't need a hydrobath to heat the water and are happy to add shampoo to the dog, rather than a tank, you can live without a hydrobath. Yes you can live without a hydrobath but here with the drought we are not allowed to use the hose. so we have to "buckett wash". This way you can't really get the dog clean IMO especially if you have a longer haired dog. Also using a hydrobath can save you an enourmus amount of water. For an average wash you need 3-4 bucketts so that's roughly 30-40 ltrs. In de hydrobath I have I only need 15ltr and max 10 to clean up after. do this times 2 dogs and I save about 30-40 ltrs. now I choose to wash the girls in the same water so I use only max 25ltr what saves me up to 60ltrs. And what I also think is a big advantage, you get the dogs much cleaner without having to scrub!
  21. Val Bonney is really good! I can't go to her classes as they are on saturday and I work than...
  22. Officially they are not allowed but I had my 3 inside without any problems. They only have the sign just in case they have problem makers.... They are quite easy on the rules outside school holidays but try to be strict during school holidays as there are many dogs than. (roughly 40 over easter)
  23. I just stayed in a place just out of Taree (Weeroona camping, Manning Point) They have the choice of cabins/cottages or camping. Was absolutely great (www.weeroona.com) Taree is roughly 3 1/5 hours north of Sydney
