  1. Well I think I spoke to soon as he has now gone back to letting it hit him on the nose. Do I need to throw it higher or is there a trick I am missing??
  2. This may be a silly question but when do you class a puppy as fully grown?? Mainly I am interested in height and just wondering how much longer I should expect my pup to grow or if he is about finished (10 months old). Thanks
  3. Couldn't have said it better ILoveFlatCoats. This poor little dog. I really hope he finds a nice new loving home and soon
  4. Wow this technique works wonders. Lear used to let the food hit him in the face but now he is catching everything. Now on the speaking (hmmmm) not going so well as he is not very vocal. These trick pages are great as I had taught him all I knew and was wondering where to go from here. Thanks CDT
  5. I don't mean to thread hijack Redii but does anyone know of a stockist of the Energy any where near Bathurst?? I would be interested to see if my pup does better on this as he doesn't really like dry food at the best of times.

    Crates

Sorry just noticed Stacey B has already suggested Clark rubber but the thing I meant is a plastic sort of mat rather than foam

Have you tried Clark rubber? They have a sort of mat thing here which you could cover in blankets and it would be soft and is supossidly dog chew proof. I don't know if they have an online store though.
  8. This is a trick I have been trting to teach Lear for 2 weeks now. I think I have been going about it all wrong so once we master the catch I think this will come next. Updates as we go
  9. CTD this trick sounds great. I will be trying it with my pup tomorrow and see if he can do it. At the moment if you toss a treat to him he will let it hit him anywhere on head and wait til it is on the floor to get it so Hopefully this will work. I will let you know hwo he goes.
  10. I went into my IGA today and they don't stock the Ecopets one but they are happy to order it in and are looking into where to get it from. Thanks for all the info.
  11. Thanks for all the responses. I will check out my IGA tomorrow and see if they stock it although I am in NSW. He is happily eating VIP at the moment but if I can get a better one that would be great.
  12. I am sure this has already been asked but is there a good dog food roll on the market (something like the VIP ones). I wanted to start buying these as the BARF is taking too much time now I am on internship. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  13. I found a largeish tyre squeaky toy in Big W for under $7 that my pup adores. IGA sells them too for $6.98 they are made by pet life. It is his favorite and he has not yet made a mark in it and has had it for about 8 weeks. He chews it every day and night and hasn't got a bit off it yet. It is quite big for him but would be great for your 2. It was in the pet section . I also got a great selection of squeaky toys reduced at woolworths for only $3 each and he hasn't managed to destory these yet either. I wouldn't suggest junk shop toys either as my boy rips them up in 5 mins too  Big W is the best for me though (no I don't work there ) as I have found them cheap and good.
  14. My local pet supply place sells kennel mince which is a mix of chicken, lamb and beef (sometimes has roo in it too). It is 2.5kg for $5.00. My pup loves this in his barf
  15. I tried the coconut too and must say I had the same response UNTILL my son cracked it open a bit and the milk started coming out. Now he loves it and keeps trying to get more milk out. ANE Where did you find the hard toys that are still going???
  16. Erny, Poodlefan and Kelpie-i you guys are the reason I joined this forum. The wealth of knowledge on here is fabulous. I have taken in all your ideas and suggestions and do everything in my power to make this little pup (he is 7mths) a confident little guy who can feel safe and secure. I have contacted K9force and will let you know how we go. A great big thanks (Also from Lear)
  17. Thanks Poodlefan I will let you know how it all goes. We are really wanting to get him into the agility cause he is really smart and learns things quickly but I will definatelt have to wait until I can sort this out first (don't want him to get any worse). I am working on the kids too encouraging them not to yell and squeal while he is inside but they are normal kids and forget easily. I am emailing K9 force now
  18. I agree poodlefan and I want to do anything I can to help him. I have contacted K9 about him but not for this problem specifically. I will contact him again asap We got him 7 or 8 weeks ago from a rescue person on DOL and he was fine (other than walking on leash as was not used to it when got him) this seems to have started and gotten worse since the puppy preschool incident. The poor little guy stresses out so much when walked. On a good note he was happily playing with kids tonight unitll miss 3 squealled and then he ran away but came back 1/2hr later.
  19. Thanks Linda, His bed is in my son's room but the kids don't go in there unless my son goes to bed. He is quite happy to lay on bed in there. He would however prefer to stay outside...I was wondering if some of the school kids that walk past might have done something to him (we live on a corner and have a see through gate on side).
  20. Hi all. Firstly let me say my puppy is the most loved pup and is treated really well but lately he is really scared. When he comes inside (which doesn't like doing but we encourage as we want him to be an inside dog) he walks around with his ears flat and sulks. He lays on his bed and does not move until either the kids go to bed or everything is quiet. I know for a fact that my kids have NEVER hurt him as they have never been left alone with him although they are rather loud and yell at each other (don't know if this has anything to do with it). This is really starting to upset me because it is like he is really scared of us and we all really love him. He is a completely different dog outside though. He will play with kids and lick them all over. I am pretty sure he is in a fear period at the moment as he gets really scared going for a walk and takes some coaxing (never forced).Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  21. Just thought I'd let you all know he really enjoyed his breakfast this morning which was dryfood with warm water and the left over cereals (with milk) from the kids. I just wont do it everyday. Thanks for all the helpful info
  22. Yeah I was thinking the same when my daugther left her cereal this morning (and most other mornings) but thought I'd check on here first
  23. Hi Dogs4Fun, this is why I started this topic. I did not know if there were any potential issues with it?? I wanted to ensure it was ok before I gave it too him so as not to cause him any problems. I haven't had a dog for 10 years and alot of information has changed in that time. I just thought he might like some warm milk on his dry food in the morning as it is cold here. Thanks
  24. Ok I this will show I am a newbie but aren't all dogs lactose intollerant???? Is this wrong?? Thats is what I have always been told. I hadn't though of buying the human lactose free milk. Thanks for that I will give it a go.
  25. thanks for fast reply Paganman I wondered about the lactose but I was told by someone (who is apparently lactose intollerant) that skim milk is very low is lactose. I don't know I think I will try him on a little bit and see how it goes. I just wanted to see if I could put a bit on his dry food as he seems to like it moist. (I put some warm water on it the other day and he scoffed it).
