    Advice Please

Toby was 12 weeks when we bought him home and he sleeps on the bed and we've never had a puddle on the bed or anywhere else at night. You may be lucky to.
  2. Toby is now 4.5 month. He's been teething for a little while but over the weekend his back gums have been bleeding....enough that there is blood on everything. This morning he was walking around and I can see blood on his tongue as he plays. I can't ever remember this happening with my other dogs although it has been nearly 15 years since we last had a puppy. Is this common?
  3. Gosh, this brings back memories of my old boy 16 years ago...lol He hated the car big time. So, we would sit on the back seat with him without the car running for 10 minutes at a time and slowly increased the time. Then one of us would sit with him for very short trips....just a few miutes then straight back home and reward him. Again increasing the time until he would sit by himseld for longer trips. Eventually he got to love the car and would cry if we didn't take him. Patience and loads of encouragement was what we found worked....he was a big sook.
  4. Thanks for the replies.....will check out the flyball on Saturday at Lilydale high. We're out this coming Sunday but will definately come along to the following one.
  5. Toby is our new 4 month old Border Collie. We've had him nearly 4 weeks now and he's delightful. He sits, fetches, comes and leaves on command 95% of the time now. He starts puppy school this week for 3 weeks then we would like to continue his training but where? We're in Lilydale Melbourne and would to to hear what you suggest as the place to take him.
  6. Thnaks for that guys. He really is very good and today I did insist on him sitting and tried ignoring him and reinforcing the sit and wait. He's getting better
  7. Toby is excellent at walking on his lead until I stop and talk to a neighbour....then he barks and cries and pulls. He will imediately sit as soon as I stop and be still and quiet for about 30 seconds. He's the smae at the front door...sits, stays for about 30 seconds then cries, barks and refuses to sit and stay. This is the only time he cries or barks. I understand that he's only 16 weeks old but he other training is going so well. Even at the park when let off he will come back as soon as called. I think he's doing a great job but would like overcome this little problem before he gets much bigger. Oh...he's a BC and just beautiful
  8. hello tankgirl...he's a 14 week old Border Collie. He starts puppy school next week and then will advance to the next stage of his training. We intend to continue you training throughout his life to make sure he's happy and content and has something to look forward to each week. We currently walk him and play games and he sits, comes (well 80% of the time) when called, fetches and loves to play ball. He's excellent with my grand children ages 3 and 16 months. Oh and Puss has not come out from under the bed either. Puss lost his best mate 3 months months ago and has been a grump since. His mate was a 14.5 year old BC x Kelpie.
  9. I'm going to watch this topic myself for some answers. Puppy has been here a week now and the first few days he was great with our pet ducks. Now he wants to eat them It started when one of them came a bit close and investigated puppy....the ducks think they are dogs I'm sure. Now it world war 3 between the ducks and puppy. I would hate any of the ducks to get hurt so am keeping them seperated for the time being.
  10. I'd like to add that she was purchased as a Border Collie X Staffy from what I have read on another site. Don't mean to butt in varicool but just wanted to say that. I hope that she goes to caring home that will treat her well and give her the training that she needs.
