I get pet mince from Planet Pets in Elgar Road, Box Hill North. They have chicken, beef and roo. It is fresh (not frozen) with no preservatives.

Alan, I am definately not an expert, but i feed both my dogs BARF. Adults usually get between 2-3% of body weight. I think for puppies it may be 5-8% of their adult weight. Keep an eye on her. If she gets ribby give her more. If she porks up a bit, cut down on the amount. Hopefully others with more experience will answer too.

Sunshine is a fair distance from me. Is it much cheaper to buy it from there? I think with petrol prices, any money I saved would be used in petrol to get there.

Can you advise where the factory outlet is? Also is this suitable as part of a raw diet, or is it cooked?

Can you explain what you did to give your pets the message that you were "calm and assertive"?

I have been feeding my two whippets BARF for about 6 weeks. My boy has red skin on his tummy. Near the start of his penis (if this makes sense). It is obviously made worse by his licking the area. Could this be caused by the new feeding regime? It does look better at times, and then flares up. I have been putting Paw paw cream on it which seems to help. I love feeding them Raw food so hope I don't have to stop. They get chicken necks for Breakfast, and minced meat and Pulped fruit and vegies for dinner, sometimnes with added offal and sardines. They also get cottage cheese, eggs, omega 3 oil, yoghurt and a supplement. I am thinking maybe they need more bones....what do you think? Any advice gratefully received.

which vaccinations do you mean, i will look up my last invoice if you tell me which ones. We get C3 and Kennel Cough. I'm not even sure why we get KC as they have never been to a kennel in their lives.

My dogs are due for their annual vaccinations. I usually pay $85 for each dog. I was thinking of changing vets, but after ringing around I have been quoted up to $150. Am I getting a real bargain at the price I pay, or are others being overcharged? Do your vaccinations fall in this range?

I can't cook it as it has bone minced in with it. Definatley wouldn't eat it myself!!

I would recommend to cut the frozen mince into more manageable pieces and defrost one by one. Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure how it could possibly be cut. It is in a huge lump. Maybe I will chuck the lot and start again with fresh. i don't want to risk making the dogs sick.

This is my first post. I have just started feeding my whippets raw. My question is in regards to Chicken mince. I just bought 4 kgs of mince from Lenards, But it is frozen. I was hoping to defrost it and make up patties, but am not sure if it is ok to refreeze mince if it is not going to be cooked. Can anyone help me?
