  5. A month ago , I gave my dog a lamb shank, and when i put my hand near the bone while he was eating it, my dod (puppy) became vicious & was growling. I didnt worry about it to much then, but now i am startin to worry. Since that incident, i have now experienced this 3 times. When my dog is eating and I go close to his food, he growls and becomes vicious. He has even snapped at me and tried to bite me tonight. He is only 4 months old and I am very worried as i have 2 young kids. Can anyone give me some advice ? Thanks
  6. I have noticed a change already. I gave him a chicken carcus for lunch so by the time dinner is served , he should be happy. I will also try taking him for a walk, i purchased a 2.0 Meter leash today, so i will let you all know how we went. Thanks again for all the advice
  7. Thanks for the quick replies everyone. Yes he knows the sit position and he has been wormed. I have been giving him the recommended amount as per the petshop and the guidelines that are listed on the side of the packet of Royal Canine. I will start to give him 3 meals a day from now on. I give him carrots because i read it somewhere. I will definately get him 6 chicken necks from tomorrow for sure. I gave him another serve of food when i read the replies. He seems to have calmed down a bit since then. As far as the breeder goes, i will try and contact them also. Thanks for your help everyone :D I will let you know how we go. Zues
  8. :D Hi, our Labrador pup is almost 4 months old. We waited to take him for walks until he had all his shots. At first we had no problems taking him for a walk, but as of this week, once we go past our front gate, he sits and will not move. I have tried taking treats to convince him, i have pulled at the leash etc. I dont want to force him as i am afraid i will damage his kneck. He is acting very strange. Once i walk back to our house, he happily walks in as if nothing happened. We also have a eating problem. All he does is jump all over us and goes beserk when we feed him. He always seems to act like he is starving even though we feed him a little over the suggested amount of Royal Canine Labrador Puppy food. I give him a lamb shank bone once a week and carrots every couple of days. 300gram of Royal Canine per day (150grm in the morning & 150 grm at night) and plenty of fresh water ! I don't know what to do !
  9. After speaking to my vet, I stopped giving my dog chicken necks. I was told of a similar story as goldielover mentioned. I now give my dog 1 lamb shank every weekend instead.
  10. Just a quick note to let you know that Zeus loves the new food and gobbles it all up. I wont give him anymore chicken necks as he has been swallowing them whole. I gave him a chicken wing Thanks for your help everyone
  11. Hi, i have a backyard which has plenty of grass, but my puppy poo's on my concrete driveway as well as on the grass. Does anyone have any tips that i can use and try to train him to poo on the grass in a certain area of the backyard ?? Thanks

  13. I purchased a 12kg pack of Royal Canin which cost me $84.95. They gave me 2 measuring cups and a lagre Royal Canin food storage bucket. They also gave me a frequent buyers card which gets me the 10th bag of dog food free ! I went to the shops and bought 5 small chicken necks for the bargain price of 50cents They suggested that i wean him into the new food, but i told them i already knew that as my new friends here already told me that Thanks again, we are so happy . I will let you all know how we go One last question.....Does 235 grams of dry food and a chicken neck per day sound right ?????? Regards George
  14. Thank you all so much. I will try and hunt down the breeder and I am going to get him the best dry dog food i can get and also get him chicken mince if i have no luck in contacting the breeder. thanks everyone, i will let you all know how i go...I really appreciate your help. I will donate the milk and keep a small amount of buscuits and do the same with them.
  15. Thanks stormie & goldielover, The people i bought the pup from only had him for a week, they bought him from a Breeder , but as they were not real happy about selling the pup and were really attached with him and felt terrible, i didnt get to chat to them much at all, so i have no info really. I will definately try the one of the premium foods that you listed. I have purchased 4 litres of puppy milk and a large bag of Supercoat Puppy dry food. Should i use it up, or get rid of it ? Would it be ok to feed him the best dry food only and not get a can of dog food again ? By the way, the less poo , definately the better. Thats the only thing i hate about owning a dog Thanks again for your advice guy's. Much appreciated.
  16. Hello, I want to start by saying what a great forum this is. My question is, how much food should i be giving my 8 week old Labrador puppy every day ? I feed him daily : 125ml of Pal Puppy Milk. 1 cup of Supercoat puppy biscuits and 1 can of Pal Puppy food. Can anyone please suggest a better dog food brand as well ? He seems to be doing a lot of poos !!! Thanks for you help in advance George
