Thanks for the link, and I'm really the lucky one to have bell in my life
OOPS it's Animal Eye Care and they do regular visiting clinics in other surgeries - Click here for their website.
Belle is very lucky girl to have you for an owner, Bianca!

Wow, thanks RuralPug, it's only about 15 mins or so :)
Not real sure exactly where Moorabbin is in relation to Malvern but the Animal Eye Clinic in Malvern is one of the best in Australia...I think they have another branch - I'll check.

Hi there, my name is Bianca, and I am the owner of Bell.
Thanks for your feedback, I greatly appreciate itand your concern.
As said above,we had a lump removed from her eyelid, and once healed her eyelashes grew downinto her eye. we then had her in for surgery to fix, which was unfortunately unsuccessful so off she went for a third operation ( thankfully it was successful).
After that a few months later she had a cyst in that eye, that heeled up fine as well with some eye cream drops.
With the pictures posted, she had just finished rubbing her face on the couch. She has a skin condition like eczema on her face, which the vets have not been successfulin treating... Which is why her eyes would look red (after rubbing)? We have tried Cortisone, medicated creams, injections, medicated shampoos and nothing has been able to help her.
We do take Bell to regular vet visits, and at first I thought it was gunk on her eye, so went with a tissue to remove to then realise it wasn't and decided to take her into the vet straight away. I asked my Auntie if she knew what it was and she posted here.
The vet has suggested a specialist if what advice she has given does not work, but after your comments I am definitely going to get her into a specialist.
Are there any recommendations for an eye specialist in south eastern Melbourne (Moorabbin) ?
Thanks again for helping, I really appreciate it. Just wanted to give some insight into my poor little muffin pie bella.
Just wanted to update - the Vet has diagnosed it as a calcium deposit and has prescibed drops which should clear it up.
Ummm it is not usually a simple fix in small breeds like Maltese predisposed to corneal conditions.
Calcium deposits usually occur due to long term corneal damage. In the case of this girl her history with the eyelash rubbing MIGHT account for it but I tend to agree with kirty that the other eye doesn't look wonderful either.
And, not intending to be rude, it might quite easily be a misdiagnosis. It is the rare general vet that is an eye specialist too. Did your niece say whether the drops were only for that single eye or if they were for both?
If she were mine, I really would be getting her to an eye specialist.

Thanks for all the replies, I've told my niece and she'll be going to the vet for a diagnosis.
About 6 months ago she had an op for a growth on top of her eyelid along the rim of the lashes.
It looked like a brown bubble and was about 5mm round, so it was removed however her eyelashes grew back and were rubbing into her eye.
It required another surgery to fix this ... maybe it's related to this.
Will let you know the outcome and thanks again :)

Hi everyone
Attached are photos of Belle, a13yo Maltese Cross.
Does anyone know what the white bit (it's not a reflection) in the middle of her eye could be please?.
My niece has only just noticed it and is wondering what it could be.
Belle has been in good health and in Feb all her bloods were great.
Thanks in advance for your help

HOME NEEDED FOR BIG DOOFAS ANATOLIAN MALE
Dost was left at the RSPCA in Burwood, Victoria.
He is 10 months old.
Dost will mature 31-32" and weigh 65-75 kiloograms.
Dost is looking for a home who need a family companion/guardian and who would love to decorate their house with some Anatolian fur :D
Dost is a friendly Anatolian, BUT due to his size and exuberant nature, he is suited to homes with children over 12yo.
Urgent!
I will also assist the new home with ongoing breed specific advice, training, diet, etc.
Dost is in urgent need to find a home, but most of all, Dost needs to go to the RIGHT home.
Dost is a pure bred Anatolian and will have the general temperament traits of a large, confident male Anatolian.
Dost is unregistered but I do have information of his background and lineage.
For general information please contact myself,
for adoption specific questions, please contact the RSPCA Burwood: 9224 2222.
Thank you.
