  1. Yeah be careful who you buy from Shell, one good thing is that the price is starting

to drop on the 450D as the 1000D has been released & a new 50D will be out soon.

With the lens choice, the larger the number the longer the zoom & the lower f stop

the more light your lens will let in (so faster in low light conditions).

With the shutter speeds & ISO range of this camera you will be able to freeze

the action in shots quite well, I'm sure you will love it.

I bought mine from a local shop against buying on-line, for warranty reasons.

  2. I have had experience with this :) LOL

Our 1st Dobie "Portia" was given a sandwich by a workman on

building site that he left glad-wrap on just to see if she would eat it !! (Ba$%@*D !!)

(I'm still not over it & it was 15 years ago :) :))

Anyways yes it did pass in tact, although it clung to her butt & she ran around

the yard squeeking cause she thought something invisible was chasing her.

(yeah that bit was a bit funny  )

Made the OH don the rubber glovies & pull it out of her butt LOL

I decided it was partly his fault that she ate it, as he had her at the

    building site while working there.

The look on OH's face while removing it was priceless

So don't worry too much, just keep a good eye out & I hope it all "passes" well for you.

  3. This is a "well timed" question for me!

I just got my 1st Canon camera last week - 450D.

I used to have a Panasoic FZ30 & shot in RAW a bit & had to use a DPP converter for those.

Now with the new camera I have the choice of the EOS Utility or CS3.

Only started playing with the EOS Utility 2 days ago & it is pretty cool!

But to be honest I am more familiar with CS3.

Would love to know which one offers more variables.

Both are really good IMO, so many fantastic things you can do.

Have you tried "virtual photographer", that is lots of fun too

  4. When I bought my 350D I didn't want to buy online either. I bought mine through Harvey Norman and managed to talk them down a fair bit in the price, and got them to chuck in a few things - I got a nice bag, and 1500 free photo prints.

I bought memory cards, lens etc off the net.

Yep! I plan on doing a similar thing - except Harvey Normal don't have the 450D in stock at the mo.

I've got a good back-pack camera bag, but would try for another SD card as an extra!

You gotta love it when a store will bargain with you :)

  5. Hello peoples :dummy:

I can't believe I had missed this thread!

I am in the process of up-grading my camera, currently have a Panasonic FZ30 -

has been a wonderful friend - but time to move up to a proper SLR.

Just watching one on e-bay to see how much it goes for & will put mine up soon

packaged with a wide-angle lens, remote, bag, spare battery & travel charger.

I saw the new 450D & had a play with one on Friday. Seriously thinking of the

twin lens one (18-55 & 55-250) both are IS, so am thinking they would be good.

Priced at $1399 from local camera store. Did look at the 400D twin lens one which

is priced at $1078 with free 4G card.

If I get the 450D I can reuse my SD cards, so that is a bit of a bonus.

I realise I could probably do better price wise on line, but would rather buy local

for warranty issues & back up service. I am still learning manual shooting & use

Auto & Program modes a lot.

I have no exprience with SLR lenses at all - but the time has come to learn!

I have researched between the Nikon D60, Canon 400D & 450D & my head is

just about at exploding point! LOL

I would truly appreciate hearing any thoughts you guys have on this too :dummy:

  6. Yup! my girl loves her "skippy tails" :( too

Doesn't take her long to destroy one either LOL

We can get them at our pet butcher, but also have a friend who shoots them & gives

us lots for free - although sometimes they still have a bit of fur on them (Yuko !!)

  7. Hello

    All Raw feeder here

    I feed this diet because:

    1. My breeder strongly recommended it to me & she

produced A LOT of information to back up how much sense it makes.

    2. My last girl was taken by cancer & I feel her diet (of low quality kibble) did not

do her any favours in the health department.

So I hope Raw feeding is the best I can do for Rebel

  8. Jess apparently Missing Link is very hard to get at the moment!

Have been told that this brand "GREENPET SUPPLEMENT" is almost as good.

It does not contain gloucosamine, but has a lot of the other ingredients that ML has.

You should be able to get some of this & apparently it is cheaper than ML.

    Cheers

    Sharon
