  1. I really have no idea what Raspa would do, she goes berserk when anyone comes to the door (known or not) or anyone walks near the side or back fence but as soon as we let someone in she is their best buddy pal what do you have for me friend. When I am trying to get her to stop barking at someone I don't like to say her name just in case someone overhears and calls her if they are trying to break in.
  2. Raspa thinks its a great time to play catch and it is the only time that she will actually return the ball to you.
  3. Yep Raspa is definitely mine, hubby will open the door to let her in and she will run straight past him and up to me. I make him feed her every night but she follows me everywhere, but then we didn't choose her, she chose us.
  4. Is 23.5 hrs a day too much lol, if Raspa had her way she would sleep the day (and night) away and due to a foot injury and being in plaster (me not her) she is not getting any exercise or stimulation so the only thing she can do is sleep. Poor baby
  5. Haven't seen these ones before but they do look very similar to the rubber pimple balls with bell, I'm sure that if you didn't like the bell you could somehow or another get it out http://www.australianpetshop.com.au/shop/products/467.php
  6. I had the same problem last Friday night, Raspa was very unsettled wouldn't come inside the house, kept coughing, would lie down outside on the grass then a minute later was up and moving around, peed about 6 times in the space of 30 minutes, once tried to pee but nothing would come out. I googled her symptoms and she had nearly all the bloat symptoms so was about to take her to the emergency vets when she finally decided to come inside, jumped up on the lounge chair for pats and quick nap, noticed her stomach making a LOT of noises and remember the bloat symptoms said there would be a lack of stomach noises so that made me feel a lot better. Sat up with her for another couple of hours where she happily snored her lungs out. So in the end, have no idea what was wrong but just really really thankful it wasn't bloat.
  7. As soon as we get a mouse trap out of the cupboard she starts trembling with tail tucked in tight, she doesn't even have to see the trap just seems to sense as soon as we touch it
  8. If I give my dog a lovely fresh bone she will chomp on it for a while then will go bury it. About a week later there will be this disgusting smell outside and yep you guessed it she will be quite happily nawing on her disgusting bone.
  9. Yep spent $25 getting Raspa washed on Saturday morning, come Saturday arvo was sitting on the grass giving her a really good rub and scratch, looked down at my hands and yep, brown from dirt. She obviously found some dirt somewhere. She doesn't really do zoomies after bath as that would require too much effort but just walks and walks and walks and if she can sneak in a roll will happily do so.
  10. What a beautiful gesture. 10 years ago we had to PTS our beautiful cattle dog, my husband cried and cried, so much so that the vet nurse had to leave the room as she was crying also. They allowed us to leave without paying then a couple of days later sent us a beautiful hand painted card of a cattle dog that looked exactly like our little girl Still have the card and everytime I look at it, it brings a smile to my face, I hope the picture does the same for you :)
  11. Mine are really quite tame compared to a lot of yours  I have 2 broken toes (broken at seperate times) when I was stepping over Raspa and hit the wall instead, looked down and went ooh, don't think my toe should be on that angle (can't really feel my feet due to diabetes so probably a good thing) then one day when cleaning out my newsed car she decided that she really really wanted to be up in the car with me so used me as a climbing post, result - massive scratches up and down both legs as she dug her claws in to climb up and blood running down my legs, looked like I had cut an artary  other than that is has all been pretty quite on the injury field
  12. Yep and proud of it :D we are mummy and daddy and I call her my bubby, I say where's daddy and she will also go looking for him, I tell her we are going to see nanna and poppy and she get really excited. I am also one to tell her every day that mummy loves her little bubby. Don't care what people think of me (probably crazy dog lady) but hey I can't have kids of my own so yes she is my child
  13. I just want to give them all big smooshy kisses, gorgeous photo's
  14. Red Dog, watched it last night and balled my eyes out, thank god I was home alone (except for my red dog of course) she got lots and lots of hugs after movie
  15. OMG, how did you dog manage to do that, so funny, such a mean mummy. Raspa comes up to me to get the green ant off her that has just bitten her foot, then of course I have to rub it or put some ice on it for her lol
  16. Raspa got kinda locked in the laundry one day, she likes to lie on the tiles in the laundry during the day and whilst the door (to outside freedom) was latched back the darstedly (sp) broom fell across the door way and there was no way in hell she was going anywhere near that broom to get out. Have absolutely no idea how long she was "stuck" in there but hopefully it wasn't long
  17. Unfortunately the Asian ones are great at killing electrical appliances especially air conditioners and tv's. I thought that they were lovely when we saw a couple here and there but now there is a plague and I just want to get rid of them, they shit everywhere, it is disgusting
  18. Raspa will run around wildly looking for something to bring me and if she cant find anything she looks very sad, but if she does greet me with something in her mouth it generally gets dropped very quickly in the hope that I might have something that she can carry inside (generally the mail or newspaper
  19. Yes Raspa is also very good at knowing what we are saying, she knows din dins, up on daddy's chair, where's the birdies and you most definitely have to spell out drive otherwise she goes beserk. And some people reckon that dogs are dumb, ha not in this household that is for sure.
  20. Raspa gets to lick the ice cream bowl and take ice cream pieces from my fingers whilst I am serving it up, she loves her ice cream, and bickies and any other food I might just be eating
  21. What if the dog is 9 years old, i have just bought her a new rope and after she has been chewing it I see tiny little smears of blood, she won't let me look properly inside her mouth but as far as I can see there are no cuts or blood on her gums??
  22. I have one very similar to Marshall the Cattle Dog, my partner gave it to me after we had to PTS our blue girl several years ago, it now sits on my bed side table
  23. I am so sorry for your loss, may he rest in peace
  24. Thanks Lo Pan, I was really hoping it wasn't going to be something like that but in reality knew it was. I don't want to stop socialising her but will obviously have to keep a better eye on her.
  25. I was wondering if someone could advise, for some reason in the last two days my dog has decided to start fighting. She is 11 years old and has never had a fight before in her life, she has always just watched the other dogs and people walking past and didn't even display the slightest bit of interest in them. We visited friends on Sat night and after about 3 hours of being around the other dog she all of a sudden decided to run over to the other dog and start fighting, admittedly they were eating bones but she had two bones directly in front of her and was eating them and the other dog was not the least little bit interested in her bones. I don't think that there was any teeth but certainly a lot of growling and fighting noises. Then last night she went for a drive with me and when we got home I let her out of the car, she had a bit of a sniff around the grass while I locked up the car then unfortunately some people where walking their two dogs past our house, she growled then went running down to them like she was going to fight them, I yelled at her with a very gruff voice and she did come back but certainly scared the poor people. I certainly blame myself as I saw the people walking down the street but thought they walked into a house but unfortuantely they were walking right past us as I let her out. My question is WHY has she decided all of a sudden to start fighting?? Thanks Tracey
