  1. Hi I may no longer be an active foster carer, but I still monitor these pages. Wishing everyone a great 2014 and hoping that there are fewer animals (of all types) needing help in 2014. Regards, Gillian
  2. Hi As a past owner of a BC cross female I understand how testing this breed can be - even when trained and socialized. Mine was almost too intelligent for her own good :) Try Australian Working Dog Rescue http://www.workingdogrescue.com.au/ If I remember correctly the lady who started this is in North Queensland. They certainly have BCs listed on their site, and would be a good starting point for you or the family concerned. Good luck and the dog (if it could speak) would probably thank you.
  3. Andrea, she looks very very like a young version of my Bundy. If she has his temperament she will grow into a great dog. He was found in Bega pound at around the 4 month mark Hope someone can help you with looking after her recovery.
  4. I had one that basically destroyed 2 doors. First night we had her she bashed through an existing cat flap and enlarged the hole in the door consderably. Stormy night, we had to go out, and she wanted to get inside and away from the thunder and lightening. She had some shelter in her run but I undertand that one :) . Few days later she chewed and scrabbled huge chunks off the other door to the laundry. We had workmen around and shut her in there. Bad decision as this strong minded girl could hear something going on and wanted to be part of it. She is a staffy x (possibly border collie) and my last foster.
  5. Thanks for the suggestions Cosmolo. I had hoped get your help with Lady when you were here a few weeks ago. Bad timing for me though. Lady has been adopted locally and is 5 days into her settling in period. These people are experienced with the breed and seem to be handling her very well. We did work out what fencing would contain her. That helped the process. We also worked with a behaviorist to try to identify the reasons for jumping. My sister-in-law, who has put an agility title on one of her dogs and is an obedience instructor, saw Lady making a great agility dog. That was after a couple of visits here. Not in the position to take Lady herself though. That's what gave me the idea of posting her here.
  6. Bumping Lady - she is still available and would make a great agility dog.
  7. Bumping this up - is anyone interested in her?
  8. Hi I thought I would give my foster girl Lady a plug here. She is a small ACD X female already desexed and ready to go. She is a good jumper - jumping our 5 foot fences with ease. She has basic obedience, and the ACD smart brain, but in a smaller body. Quite responsive, so I think she would train up quickly. http://www.fosterdogs.org/smallmedium.htm#Lady She is in Canberra, and all her vetwork is done. Please let me know if you, or someone you know might be interested in her
