  1. This is one of me and the girls bout a month ago...
  2. Hi, I have just gone through this with one of my pups. Although it only affected one of his back legs which was stuck right out the side of him. He was so huge and still is at 9 weeks. But i had exrays done on him to rule out any bone displacements or abnormalities and was also told that i may have to put him down. But after some ringing around of some breeders who were alot more in the know of my breed than our local vets, I changed his bedding and wala. I got some rubber matting which is used as a undermat kind of thing for carpet and it woked a treat. Oh and i also put rolled up newspaper under to make lumps and bumps in order for him to work his muscles more. He is still a rather large puppy but is zooming around just as well as the others. Glad i didn't listen to initial of having to put him down...

    Difficult Eater

Hello, i had a simular problem with my 13month old boy. A friend of mine told me to get some protexin for the pups and said try it with our boy. Protexin is a mutlistrain probiotic water soluble powder which is an aide in treament and control of diarrhoea, an aid in intestinal disfunction, but it also improves appetite which leads to weight gain. I just add a pinch to each meal and Ody loves his food now and looks really good. The puppies are also have a healthy appetite. I got mine from Rural West in Perth..... I have seen the difference so might be worth a try.. Just to add, you have to feed it for at least a couple of weeks to see a difference.

    Leighs Friend

Well, I know of someone that has bought a pup from a pet shop. Not the same so to speak but simular, BYB sell to pet shops. The persone in question, saw this pup, and wanted it. And even after me trying to talk them out of it, also stating that they are the same bloody price as my pedigree pups will be, they still went and bought it. Now, the said pup was only 5 weeks old, already had its first lot of injections, and the bloody price tag that went with it was bloody unbelievable. And also he is meant to be a pom/chu which i very much doubt that cause he is now 5 months old roughly and has legs that go on forever. I have just had my first litter, they are now 7 weeks. we started off with first puppy stuck, so emergancy c-section, and we ended up loosing that pup. Broke my heart. Then we had to get exrays on one of the pups, ended up a diagnosing a swimmer and is fine now, all the vaccinations, microchipping, food, toys, training and lack of sleep and also i am keeping 2, she had 4. The boys will be going to their new homes with toys, puppy info pack, photos, collar and lead set, a bed and also lots of socialising and bit of training. I have not put a high price on my pups to cover pups,(i know some people do) all i wanted and have achieved is for them to be happy, healthy and go to the best of homes. Breeding should be to better the breed standard, only do it when you want to extend your own family, and not for money as if you are a responsible breeder, you would know that that is virtually impossible.... And this should apply to everyone, registered or not.
  5. Hi, Well im in the same vote also at the moment, 4, 7week old Stafford puppies who like to all gang up on me when i am trying to give them some affection. They will sit nice and quietly for the first minute or so, tails wagging, lapping it all up, and then its like their little minds change to attatck mode and with 4 pups on each corner of your shirt, pants etc it can get a bit much especially when they actually grab more than the clothing My method of training, discipline, dominance, well what ever you want to call it, is first a big aarr(in deep voice)and click and point fingers at the same time. And it is working, bit slower than one would hope, but we have progress. They will most of the time stop and sit straight away(notice i said most). I usually make sure i have toys also, when i want to pat them etc, to redirect then to something they can have, just in case. The boys are going to their new homes in 2 weeks so want to be on top of it before they go. You have to be persistant though if you want them stop naughty habits..... Good luck
  6. In regards the food agression, i had a problem with my 2 staffords. they were fine when feeding seperately, but feed them together and well, the growling etc would start. So i made them eat out of my hand together, which i did everytime i fed them(only had to do it for about 2 days), then they were fine. I also make them sit and wait for their meals and only when i say good dog, can they then eat. I have 4 pups at the moment(7weeks) who i can say, dont have a problem with food but with each other, thats a different kettle of fish. They are very jealous of me and when i am patting one, another will come over and all hell breaks loose. To correct them, i am putting my hand on the one that is attatcking,(usually the one on top)on one side of their face and saying no then gently pushing them in the opposite direction and giving them a toy at the same time. They are slowly getting the idea and over the last few days, have had only the smallest of outbursts. Hope you get on top of it....
  7. I know in WA it is at least 8 weeks for a pedigree but others, i dont know as i know of someone who bought a x breed from a petshop and he was bearly 5 weeks old. I have a litter of staffords who are 3 weeks old(our first) and after some research and a few hints, pups go through a stage of bonding at 8-12weeks of age so i wont be sending mine to their new homes until they are at least 9 weeks...

  10. Thankyou. I just had a look at that and i went to file, but i could go onto automation. Will keep trying other ways.
  11. Hi. I have just got photoshop. I am just wondering on how to do stitching. I want to stitch/merge to photos together. I had another programme that i did a couple on but that was on my desktop and that is on the blink. I cant remember what programme it was either. Can you do it with photoshop? My signiture is the one i did from the other programme.
  12. My male stafford(1year old) was barking perfusely yesterday at our neighbour. He knows our neighbour and as soon as i came out and told him it was alright and i started talking to our neighbour, he totally changed to wagging his tail and talking. Dont know why they do this, but they will often bark at the neighbours until i go out then they are fine...
  13. I had a rottweiler some years ago who, although not aggressive to the extent as he would attack, he would watch certain people. For instance:he was on his chain, and some friends kids were just out of reach and teasing him with food, and he didnt do a thing but when the kids father came over, he Jagger(rottweiler) went burco. Also when i would take him for a walk, anyone passing by, would be watched intensely by Jagger until they were way passed me. Another incident, was when we had some friends come over. and one of them was wearing all black plus a black beanie. We were sitting in our shed, and friends were sitting across from us. Jagger was right in between me and OH and wouldnt take his eye off friend. Then friend called Jagger over to pat him. Jagger went over but he was always watching friend. And when friends were leaving, Jagger grabbed him on the arm, did not brake the skin. We did get him when he was 15months old and the lady lived in a neighbourhood which always has trouble with aborignals. Apparently there were many people that wanted Jagger but he only liked me. Jagger was also different from when he was in his own backyard to when he was say down the beach. I think that alot of dogs just have a close bond with their owners and some people might just look intimidating. Oh, i have staffords at the moment, 1 of which is a dainty little 2year old female, who wouldnt hurt a fly. I was watching tv one night by muself, think is was called Hard Core Criminals, and this certain crimnal came onto the screen, well my wouldnt hurt a fly dainty little stafford went balistic. She virtually attacked the tv real aggressively every time his picture would come up on the screen, and would sit looking right next to me when his picture wasnt on the screen.
  14. I have the same problem with my 2 staffords. They have alergies towards the grass of all things.. Anyway the most cost effective way that i found was to wash them once a week in Epi-Soothe S. its a oatmea shampoo with spherulites and chitosanide. It stopped them scratching immediately and no more trips to the vet... Hope this helps
  15. yep. he was a very loyal companion. He used to do obedience but come to the test, where he had to drop stay, the little tyke would crawl along behind me. he also saved our gr who had hip displaysia, and was geting attacked by a bluey, he ran over and got hold of it around the neck. they may be little but they have hearts of gold....
  16. Here are just a few photos that i come across today. they are of our little jr Kyro. He passed away a couple of years ago at the ripe old age of 15. RIP our little man thankyou for looking
  17. Just took these photos out in the yard. As you can see he is quite happy with our girl... and by himself thankyou for looking
  18. thankyou for reminding me. i have actually got a couple for my dogs. yes they are bloody unreal. I have him here at the moment, and i have had no problems with him at all. But here he has got kittens to torment, and my staffy girl who he loves and comforts up to. He also doesnt go toilet in on his blanket nor inside which is good. he does whine a little but a firm NO and he shuts up immediately. here is a little photo of him in his crate. and thankyou for all your suggestions
  19. yes well i didnt say that she has no time just no patience. and she has been on her own for 20 odd years and even though i tried to talk her out of it, she wouldnt listen. she loves the litle thing she just wants me to train him a little. do a bit of lead work and house train him.. but he seems a lot happier here with all the other animals to play with so i will kepp him here until ithink he is ready and she is ready for him. But i just thought that if i could make her backyard more interesting then he would be alot happier....
  20. hi all, well i cant remember where i put my other post... so i will start one of here.. yesterday i brought home my mums little chihuahua/pomeranium sp to train him a little as mum cant. the puppy is on his own when he is at mums place. he has toys but he seems to get very bored and lonely quickly.. he has settled in really good here. But i have 3 kittens, and 1 dog that he just loves and plays with them. mum also had problems with him, wetting and pooing his blanket at night, and well last night, i had no accidents at all. BUT i did decrease his bed to half and put a tray in his crate with him.. i am going to start to lead train him today... What i am wondering is when i give him back to mum, is there any ways i can try and make him more happier. ie: toy games, etc. mum has no patience and ive told her that is what you need with a puppy, she also has a bad back so she will sit outside with him but cant run around or anything... i was thinking of some rope games and stuff but ive never had this problem so i would be very appreciative if any one could suggest anyting else for when i send him back home.. thankyou
  21. No worries By the way, I have an eleven week old cocker here who is hell to try and toilet train. Would you like to take him and train him up for me too hehe why not. the more the merrier. its easy to train puppies by i cant train my OH....
  22. If the pup is healthy and has not been exposed to public places yet, and your bitch is healthy and up to date with her vaccinations, there should be no problem. Good on you for helping your Mum out. Baby puppies are pretty hard work. thankyou. that was the answer i was hoping for... As regards my mother, she will be able to keep up with the training to a certain extent. I will only teach the pup the basics and then i will teach her. Mainly to heel, sit, stay. as long as he heels properly and sits then mum should be right. As i said before, she had a major accident on her back years ago, and well it is nearly stuffed. But she needs to go for short walks a couple times a day otherwise she will seize up. The pup is a chihuahua/pomeranium, so it will be able to go the right speed for mum withought to much hassle. as long i can train him to heel properly then they should be home and hosed. I am actually glad she got him, except for her not having any patience, he will do her the world of good.. thankyou Toohey yes they are but they are worth it in the end when they give you unconditional love and companionship and thats what my mother needs.
  23. no she did not. and my mother is a spare of the moment type of person, and nothing i could say would talk her out of it.. i am more than happy to take him on and train him. mum just hasnt got the patience or the know how,(she has also a very bad back) but she is very lonely and she likes the company. it also lets me off the hook for having to go there avery bloody five minutes... she just wants me to house train him and obedience train him( just to walk on a lead and sit). it wont take me that long, and i think that she would be alot happier...
  24. Hi, I am only new to this forum but i also have a dog whith ligament damage. he is a big staffy, bout 20kilos, and he is now nearly 12 months. he injured himself when he was 6 months. i had exrays etc and they suspected the ligaments in the shoulder were torn. they told me i had to leave him in his crate, and only take him out on the lead and only walking and see how he goes. they also said, hopefully he would have grown out of it by the time he is 12 months. if not they will refer me to a specialist. he is still sore now but only has a slight limp. he sees the chiropractor every 5 weeks and the last time he said his shoulder was very badly rolled. do you think that this is going to be an on going complaint or will his shoulder eventually settle down??? hoping that you can help me... regards tanya
