  1. There was 4 day dog show here last week and I got to see some dock diving dogs! I think it's my new favourite thing to watch :) This dally was awesome!
  2. Edited because i can't technology today. Everyone's photos are great! So wish I actually had a dog to work with at the moment, all in good time I guess.
  3. Sighthounds look so weird when they're pregnant! Lose that characteristic shape and then look really uncomfortable. She's gorgeous Kirislin, I'm very much looking forward to seeing photos of her pups :)
  4. Also Meg from D and D dog coats on Facebook. She mostly makes dane coats but does smaller ones on request :)
  5. So many lovely photos. Huga I LOVE yours, that's sheer boy/dog love personified. Gorgeous. Gapvic, i love your creative brain, you do storytelling so well. Love your dog in the bath too Cat! Just out of curiosity - what breed? Here's my second for the year. And yes, my last one was a cardinal - I love watching that splash of colour flying around here :) And who uses what hosting sites? Are any better or worse than others? I need to find one that I like - suggestions welcome.
  6. Late already oops! Although it is still Sunday arvo where I am.... Hopefully this will work and be somewhat viewable. May have to investigate the flickr or similar option. Anyway, this is my new favourite backyard bird - I love seeing his bright flash of colour. Oh it's tiny!! Oh well.
  7. I'll give it a crack! I need to push myself more so this should help. I won't go with a theme, it'll just be whatever I can see and shoot! Fingers crossed I make it through :)
  8. Oh! Those are AMAZING!! how very talented you are. Thanks so much for sharing them :)
  9. It's nice to hear good things about them too :) we normally have big dogs, rottis, a dane and a greyhound so it's quite a departure in dog type for us. So I'll be doing a lot of research first to make sure we'll all be cool. I do love the look of the wires, a beardy eyebrowed face is awesome! I've heard they're the clowns of the coat types, so that is also appealing :)
  10. That's pretty much what I was wondering Haredown, I thought it might be a sign of an unethical breeder type. Thanks for the ANKC regs link, i'll have a look later on. If we were staying here in Aus, then I'd be ok with sussing out breeders, it's just that we might be moving to the US so was just starting some preliminary research. Also researching to see if we really want one, they're very different to all the other breeds we've had so far. I'd love a wire coat but also like the black and tan smooth coats, it's a tough one! The wires are supposed to be quite fun, or so I've heard :)
  11. That will be interesting to see then. I guess to me it defeats the purpose of having the different coat types? But that's me as an outsider!
  12. Thanks for your reply - that's interesting. I had wondered why! Do they show those ones or is it more a pet thing? Just curious :)
  13. So for various reasons I've been researching dachsies as a future pet. A few of the breeders I've looked at in the US are breeding long coats to short coats and I wondered if that was the done thing, as my limited research here in Aus suggests that the coat types are kept a bit more separate? So it's just a curiosity thing I suppose as it's a breed and country that I have no contacts in! And not having any contacts makes me nervier about finding an ethical breeder, when the time comes. So any thoughts and discussion would be appreciated :)
  14. That's made my day Gapvic! So very very pleased to hear it :) have also been checking the fb page and am so pleased with the support.
  15. Really Rebanne? People have been abused when walking greys? That's terrible but it is one of the things I was worried about. It's bad enough walking a muzzled foster anyway. Am so sorry Gapvic, it's such an awful situation and I think you and Rebanne are right, a lot of damage has been done to the breed's reputation. And after all the hard work that's been done over the years to reverse the idea that greys are savage, it was really starting to pay off and then this happens. It's always the dogs who lose
  16. http://consumer.crkennedy.com.au/event/peter-coulson-nov14 I registered for this last night - it's free! figure there'll be a lot of selling, but will learn something. Thought a few of you might be interested too :)
  17. Not yet! Will do tonight :) Am glad to hear your enthusiasm about it/him too, makes me that much more determined. I follow him on FB and his light use is just sensational.
  18. Hey Kirislin https://www.facebook.com/petercoulsonphotographer/photos/a.699498200106555.1073741830.123098721079842/809418522447855/?type=1&theater I'm going to book into this - a little bit scared but after seeing gapvic's pictures, I figure it's too good an opportunity to miss :)
  19. They are fantastic Gapvic!! Am kicking myself I didn't do one of those workshops now. Will be stalking the page so I can catch the next lot ( hopefully there will be a next time!). I think it was $250 ish Kirislin.
  20. This really worries me, I have to say, their acquisition rate is high and fast. My long term vet practice became a Greencross a while ago. While I haven't noticed a jump in prices yet, I figure it's not too far away. They still have 2 vets that I know and like, so will probably stick around for a while longer. The shareholder factor concerns me, in a business of this type. I know vets need to make money too - but I'd rather it go to the vets pocket instead of a corporation.
  21. We used Pearly Mates about 2 months ago, he was lovely. Our girl's timber urn is nice too. http://www.pearlymates.com.au/ he picked her up from the vet and delivered her back to my house.
  22. Just to add what HugL said - I understand the rationale behind the coloured sticker things at the pounds, and i mostly think it's a great idea. Unfortunately with the kid aspect, the bigger breeds are sort of blanket banned from homes with children under a certain age - at least from some pounds/rescues/orgs. Has nothing to do with whether the dog is ok with kids or not, it's based purely on the dog's size. And I know that not all places are like that, it's just something I've noticed while cruising various websites. It disappoints me, mostly as I'm a big dog person.
  23. Oh he is just gorgeous! I want one just like him Any idea on how heavy he is now?
  24. Oh Cassie! They are both just gorgeous <3 I'll have them both thanks  My MIL is off to Switzerland in a couple of weeks, I requested a Berner or a saint pup as a gift.... She hadn't heard of the Bernese but after showing her photos, she thought they were just beautiful. look forward to seeing Sumo get much bigger.
  25. Feeling for you, it's a tough one. I can't offer advice really as I have a dog I'm not super bonded to either. All I'd say is that if you do decide to rehome do it sooner rather than later, don't let it drag on too long for both of your sakes. I should have done it a few years ago.
