  1. I am going through a lack of communication similar to this with another company at the moment. Very frustrating as there needs to be lots of communication and co-ordination when doing this.
  2. Similar to me when I offered a home to a surrendered Sheltie. Despite having had this breed for 40+ years I was deemed not a suitable person to own one.
  3. Could you please tell me where you got the statistics that one in three dogs in Perth will be affected with cancer??
  4. May I point out Angelsun that while you criticise the spelling in the original letter, you yourself are guilty!! The correct spelling is appalling, not Apauling!!
  5. Breeders and breeders that rescue should have without a doubt a quarantine area. So should be able to take back or take in a dog at anytime. Yes? But that pre-supposes that breeders will have kennels so they can provide a quarantine area, does it not? A quarantine area doesnt pre-suppose anything....I dont have kennels but I do have a quarantine area....albeit a cubby within a fenced run. :) But that is a kennel, is it not? Quarantine.... A state, period, or place of isolation in which people or animals are placed.....isolation. I give up :) You miss the point - sometimes things change, sometimes things happen sometimes the cubby house is all full sometimes the breed is a bigger management issue ,sometimes you have run out of money to be able to feed it and vet it ,sometimes its either the rescue dog or your spouse, sometimes you are not well and you have enough on your plate . The point is ideally we would all take the dog back ,ideally we would all take responsibility but sometimes we shouldn't and we should respect each other enough to accept that each of us will make the best decisions we can at the time rather than beating the hell out of someone because they cant . And that is one of my add-ons. If you can't take a dog back, then see you later. You acknowledege that for you to buy a puppy from a particular breeder they must agree to take that dog back should your circumstances make it necessary and warrant it. Why then do you not give the breeder the same consideration that when and if this should arise, they may not be in a position to do so. Why would you hold them to a higher accountability than you hold yourself.
  6. I treated this successfully once with Tofu. I just cut it into 1" cubes and added it to her dinner.
  7. I once used tofu with great success to treat this. I just cut it into cubes of about 1" and added it to her dinner.
  8. Thank you so much - I have just sent them an email.
  9. Could someone please give me an idea of he costs and what is involved in sending frozen semen to Finland??? Also any help form someone who has done it - I'd love to hear from.
  10. You could try using any shampoo that does not contain Laureth Sulphate.Goats Milk shampoo is one.
  11. Does anyone have any experience of vaccine induced distemper??? I am seeking any information about this.
  12. I would suggest you take a fecal sample to the vet when you take her and get it checked for coccidia and giardia. Either of these will stop her from putting on weight no matter what she is fed. Worming tablets will not kill these protozoa, you need special drugs.
  13. I lost one of my blue merle Shelties at 18.5. He was bitten by a snake somewhere in my back yard. His heart, lungs, liver and kidneys were all still functioning 100% and he was neither blind nor deaf, but as the treatment was going to be extremely harsh on a dog of his age I chose to give him his wings. I remember it like it was yesterday even though it is a couple of years ago now.
  14. Could someone please tell me where, on the ANKC web site,I can find the new regulations relating to inbred matings, and restrictions on blue to blue matings please??
  15. I had a blue merle Sheltie who was bitten by a snake one week after his 18th birthday. His heart, lungs, liver and kidneys were all functioning at 100%,but I thought it was too much to ask him to go through the anti-venine treatment,so I gave him his wings. His father lived to 17,almost 18.
