  1. Thanks for the advice Shell. What do you mean about all of your stuff being converted?? I think I need to do a whole lot more researching!! Oh sorry! I edit in final cut pro - which doesn't handle h.264 particularly well because it's compressed. I convert it to apple prores 422 which is an uncompressed file type and then edit with that, then export it out of final cut, usually back into an h.264 so i can upload to the net I only do it like that because I'm a producer/editor so everything i shoot is made to be edited. My work flow is overly complicated for someone who just wants to shoot some video You lost me at the first paragraph.

  3. Yes, I did all of that and got the photos and video off camera and onto computer. I even uninstalled it and then reinstalled it in case I did something wrong. It just wouldn't let me see the video. All the photos were there. Shell I did download quicktime and I can see the movies now How can I get the movies off the computer and onto something so we can watch it on TV or just so that I can put it onto something so the computer is not getting filled up with photos and video? Do I need to but a program? I am hoping this may help me with the other video stuff I have on the computer?
  4. After about 15 years of deliberating....I don't rush into things I went out and bought myself a 40th Birthday present a Nikon 5100. I have been really good as my Birthday is not to the 22nd and I have only had a very little play with it. I have taken some photos and video and today went to download it onto my computer. Now the video I took comes up on the thumbnails and when I click on it it says unsupported file type. I am really over video. I have 10 years worth of kids on my video camera and I can't get them off the computer either. This is enough to send me crazy! i feel like a computer failure Its really depressing. i can't seem to find any info on what I have done wrong is there any savvy Nikon person out there who can help me. Thanks !
  5. I think you need to keep focusing on that basically she is getting a lottery ticket for a puppy with a cross breed. Do a search for her Golden noodle, doodle, whatever she chooses and see the mixed bag of pics you get. ;) There will be every shape and size imaginable! When we were going to get another dog after losing our 4 in 2009 I didn't think I could have another retriever or lab. I would sob at the thought. The kids wanted a smaller dog ...a cavalier. OH said no way he wanted something a bit bigger and had fond memories of Cocker Spaniels as a child. I was browsing the net and saw an ad for Cocker x cavaliers ( of course some designer name and expensive price) . I thought at the time that this was a great compromise between kids and OH. Against everything I have learnt from DOL I thought this might be an option for us. I had grown up with cross breeds most of my life. I ummed and aaahed over how cute they were....but did we want to go down this unkown road? One thing that put it all into perspective for me was when I did a search for pics of the breed ( the DD name is slipping my mind of a cocker x cav! ) OMG thats what pulled me up in 2 seconds flat and gave me a reality slap! They were all different shapes and sizes and the looks  If you don't mind what you end up with then thats great. For us no way!! We ended up the proud owners of a lovely little Cocker Spaniel from a wonderful breeder. We also ended up with a Golden that was being rehomed ( we realised we can't be without one! ) I am so glad that little voice was screaming in the back of my head and I listened! If she wants to go smaller than a Retriever I would highly recommend a Cocker without the Poo on the end! ;) Try to be patient and keep chipping away! Goodluck
  6. Sahla I am stunned to read your past :) :D to you and give Pancho a big cuddle from here Sahla was lucky to have a wonderful family who loved her dearly. Cherish the memories. Know that she was loved. Try not to beat yourself up about it. Even if you were home you may not have caught her in time. The vet could not do a blood test to check if it was a snake bite? RIP Sahla....have fun with my guys at the bridge. I know they are there waiting.
  7. I am very sorry to read of your loss. :D RIP Johnno
  8. You did a wonderful job I can't imagine the couple not being happy with them! When OH and I got married we paid a photographer....he stuffed a lot of them up. Some of the ones of me in the house came out dark and just horrible. We can never get them back. I remember he had glasses and he kept forgetting to put them on. It showed in the pics :D We were getting friends and family to take video and no one ever gave it to us. So it really is just memories.
  9. Great shots...congratulations on the new camera. I have still not upgraded. I went to Harvey Norman today to have a play with cameras as well :D We have just been hit financially very hard....so I will have to keep on drooling over everyone elses shots.
  10. I am so sorry to read of your loss. RIP Sophie :D When Rex my 2 year old Retriever (who was my heart dog) was PTS last year after going in for exploratory surgery I was numb for many days. to you. It is the biggest shock. I never got to say good bye to Rex as we gave him a pat and thought he would be ok after the surgery. I never realised it was my last pat. he was PTS on the table. You were lucky to be with Sophie til the end. She knew that you loved her and how lucky she was to have you to the very end.
  11. When I was young we had x breed terriers and a kelpie x and then mainly kelpies. I always wanted a Golden Retriever and when I could I got one. Plus one had Lab in her so when she passed we also ended up with a Lab pup last year. After losing our 4 dogs last year I didn't think I could get another Golden or Lab. We ended up with another Golden by chance. It was one of those meant to be moments. I don't think we will ever be without one. We were going to get another dog and we just couldn't get another Golden, it didn't seem right. The kids have always wanted a smaller dog and we have ended up with a Cocker Spaniel. He is a breath of fresh air. He has a wonderful temperament and we couldn't be happier with him.

  13. Yes, I do that too believe it or not. I used to clean motels and  some of the things human beings do is disgusting.
  14. What about the motel owner that has his own dog running in and out of the rooms while they are stripping beds and cleaning it for the next lot of guests? Should they have a notice at there desk to say that little Jack Russell is the cleaning helper?
