  1. you can buy concentrated confidor or a product called spectrum 200, its the same chemical as what is in advantage but twice as strong so you only need half as much(eg it has 200gm/l) you can mix it up and spray the yard with it and it will obliterate fleas pretty good costs about $160-190 for a litre and should last you quite a few years... saves you a lot of $ compared to the petshop type treatments which are the same thing(well advantage, you can get the other chemicals for advantix and advocate too if you want to make that up)
  2. hey what can you guys tell me about confidor vs advantage flea control? anyone tried confidor by itself??? if so how do you mix it and at what rates???? if im right i think its 1gm per 10ml of water for a large dog?
  3. ive found lamb flaps will help with gaining weight horse meat is good too from what i have heard if you give eggs boil some water then crack the egg in the hot water, raw eggs cause biotin deficiency
  4. ive found the same thing, and i do feed a lot of chicken carcasses. Recently i had som einsight into the reason why commercial chicken carcasses are so brittle, i noticed especially when i had to kill a heap of roosters and fed them to the dogs(and the family) i noticed their bones were a lot more harder, even some old hens were the same. Now i watched a show and the bloke was saying because the chooks we buy in the shops are only 6-10weeks of age and so large their bodies dont have enough time to properly develop the bones in their legs especially, thast why sometiems those animal rights terrorists show footage of meat chooks that cant even walk, because they grow faster then their legs can support.... their bones are spongy makes me wonder how much calcium is in chook bones from a commercial operation compared to a backyard chook?
  5. do any of you ever feed your dogs oily fish, eg pilchards/sardines?
  6. gota kola(pennywort) plant is supposedly good too you can get it an nurseries, they call it the arthritis herb not to be confused with penny royal which is toxic to dogs
  7. two options i have used that work well mix 3-6parts detol 1 part metho 1 part vege oil shake it and apply to ears, flies will stay away, only problem is teh oil will collect a bit of dirt so you need to wash them every few days or it gets gunky or get some of that tape from the chemist that is white with holes in it... not sure of the name but you can buy it in long lenghts, eg 1metre cut and put that over the dogs ears... will stay there for a day or so and in that time no flies will bite thru it.. when it falls off replace
  8. if you get it fixed, try and get him out running on some different ground, like i said never heard of it happening to these type of dogs, but then i only know of racers and working sighthounds who run all sorts of terrain eg kangaroo dogs and staghounds
  9. odd, never heard of greyhounds getting corns? do you run him much?
  10. coopex works well, $10 for a sachet, mix with water and spray everywhere, its residual so lasts a while bear in mind that you may need to try a few different things to knock the fleas on the head thankfully ive never had a problem with fleas, in fact have gone yearas without even seeing them on a dog, recently they got into the yard somehow, frontline is working for me at the moment but
  11. interesting website, i get my worming tablets from a vet cheaper then i get them off that site but by $0.40
