Im hoping my breeders would take them back as I know my family could not cope with the coat on afghans, in saying that my sister has such a sweet spot for my boy afghan that maybe she would clip him off and keep him as long as he could put up with 4 dalmations

[email protected] lovely lady can get you any fur you want from rabbit to antique snow leopard I have gotten rabbit pelts and fox tails off her before. She will be all stocked up at the moment too as she sells them at abbey festival which is in a couple of weeks

I had an afghan that did exactly this until he was about 12mths old. He has an absolutely beautiful gait when he got going but was more comfortable pacing. I had a friend teach me how to put my foot out just as we were going in to the ring and trip him which put him off balance and sort of knocked him out of pacing and in to the right gait. This is a bit hard to explain and i also found it very awkward for me to do with out tripping us both. I ended up with two simplified versions, one was to lead him around me in a circle in the assemble area before we went in and also in front of the judge when they ask you to do a triangle or up and back. This also puts the dog off balance and when they straighten they are already moving in to the correct gait. The second I used when he seemed to have gotten the idea and is less obvious to people watching, i would either give him a large correction on the collar or show him some food something that would make him leap forward in to his gait rather than just plod in to it (which is when they tend to pace) Hope this helps

I use an electronic collar on my affies and find it doesnt pull any coat out at all. I was sad the first time it zapped them and they did squeal but they only had to be zapped once or twice to learn and now i only have to put it on occasionally to remind them. I got one called a sportdog SB6 which is escalating ie starts off at the lowest setting and automatically gets stronger if they keep barking, however it has a fail safe that if they get scared and start screaming any constant barking for more than 15 barks the unit shuts off for 3 mins then resets itself to start again giving them time to calm down..........but as i said theyre smart they work out very quickly not to bark

Same my affie girl was digging to china in my backyard until i started filling every hole with dog poo and she rarely digs anymore, if she does i fill it with dog poo and it puts her off for another mth or two

Does anyone know why they are so hard to get hold of?? I would have thought if there was such a demand challenge would have them on permanent order??

My little girl also does this at the dog park but only to certain dogs i assumed it was submission as well but the funny thing is she only seems to do it to dogs she likes as well, if they are unfamiliar or just scary she just rolls over on her back

Does anyone know where to buy a simpson supajet dryer from i have only found too store so far who supply them and neither have any current stock and are not replying to my emails on when they might have some in stock. Any suggestions guys

Its been three weeks and im still sleepless. My fist afghan pup learnt after 4 nights of screaming he was either going to be ignored or roused on so he shut up. I dont know how to stop my new little girl tho, i have tried ignoring she will scream for 3 hrs straight without a break. I have tried rousing in person and through the door, I have tried the calming settle her back down to sleep and leave which is the most reliable but then im awake too She got really frantic in her crate biting the metal bars and hyperventillating so i have moved her to a puppy pen but this morning she was trying to jump out of it and she can almost succeed She only lasts asleep til about 5am. My boy lasts til i get up which during week will be 7.30 and on weekends can be 10.30 Really really tired and out of idea's it does take the joy out of a new puppy and make you very cranky with them
