  1. Yep, I'm officially part of the schnauzer gang now! I'll let you know how it goes. Hopefully it doesn't rain tomorrow! Its been terrible weather since the day he came home.
  2. I am feeding my puppy dry kibbles with added warm water to moisten it. I am suspecting he is not chewing because he vomitted up some kibbles this morning and they came out whole. How do i encourage him to chew? Do i add less water? When i feed it to him dry, he definitely chews.
  3. Thanks I will give it a try tomorrow. I hope he doesn;t bite the hell out of me when i try... i just had another practice grooming session on top of the washing machine.... got bitten by puppy teeth
  4. Thanks! Any tips on how i should start the bathing process?
  5. I just brought some aloveen shampoo and was wondering whether it is safe for the puppy to lick it. I'm going to be washing his beard and I can see him licking the foam already!!! Bathing him for this first time this weekend. He is 10 weeks old, any tips for me? Thinking of putting a non slip mat in the bath tub and washing him there.
  6. with the vacination, my little boy is due for his 2nd puppy shot soon. Should I be getting the C5 or the C6? He doesn't live in a kennel but may be going to obidience school when he is ready. Could he catch kennel coughs from other dogs?
  7. i'm planning to buy a kong for my little boy but he is only a puppy. I know there are 2 versions of kongs... the green one and the red one. the green one is supposedly for puppies... do i need a green one or will he be fine on the red one?
  8. Thanks all. I will get in touch with them
  9. where can I take my pup if it hasn't had its second vacination yet? Its not due for one until a couple of weeks. Could I hold it in my arms and take it to the park where there is noise?
  10. Thanks. Thats good to know. I think it depends on the online store. A couple of stores I enquired with does not offer the guarantee. Shipping is going to cost and arm and a leg with K9 for me because they are in melbourne and I'm in sydney.. The weight of a bag of dog food is not light!
  11. no new bites on me today. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
  12. excellent. do they do discounts for DOLers?

    New Pup

Hi Shad I had the same response with my puppy when i went to visit him for the first time. But it was due to wrong timing. I visited just after it was fed so it was a bit sleepy. I breeder assured me that he was playful and that i was visiting at the wrong time. So lo and behold i visited him at a better time the next week and he was up and playful. I have since brought him home and he hasn't stopped running around since! This was my post: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?s=&a...t&p=3662981 alot of people in that post reassured my concern and could help you answer some of your concerns.
  14. do you know whether artemis is one of them?
  15. How do people experiment with dry dog kibbles. I want to try my pup on artemis because it has really good reviews but unsure how he would react to it. The smallest bag available is 6+ kg and I don't want to see it to waste if thats not the food for him
  16. Yep that's another possibility, but I'd be wondering where the pup picked it up. If the mites originated at the breeders the other dogs would be affected and the breeder would definitely know about it. Did you fly the puppy in a hired crate or have it delivered by a carrying company? The symptoms in humans are generally temporary and subside once the dog is treated. No Teddy travelled home in the car. I don't think its mosquitos either.... I've had mosquito bites in the past and its not the same marks. haha sorry to keep everyone in suspense. Didn't have access to the computer during the day. I inherited a new bite today when I got home.. But it is one so far for today. The other day was like 8. So maybe there is hope! Teddy is not scratching constantly, only once in a while. I seem to be scratching more than him! It could be something in the garden when we take him out.... By the way, i haven't given him any frontline/advantage. I want to be sure it is fleas before putting chemicals on him. I could try bathing him but want him to settle in the environment before I try something like that.
  17. Very strange. The OP says she has bites all over her body, if there are that many fleas that they're biting humans to that extent I would expect to be able to see them. The dog would be crawling in them and they'd be clearly visible, especially if it's just been clipped. I was also thinking allergies. Haha maybe i have fleas?
  18. Yep this is correct. My pup is already on sentinel 3 weeks ago. The bite marks are increasing each day. I still have not been able to locate a single flea.
  19. Sorry to hear that. But wouldn't there be a chance that advantage will have an allergic reaction aswell? No, defintely not hair. I have bite marks all over my body.
  20. Stacks of breeds leave home clipped & groomed All our minis go to there new homes fully groomed so the dog has a chance to settle & there first groom has been done by someone they trust & of course they shouldnt go to a salon until vaccinated. It could be fleas although personally i would avoid frontline like the plague. To many dogs react to it. Mini are highly allergic to fleas so if it is fleas there will be bit marks on the dog especially in the groin area as that where fleas like to hang & the dogs will chew/lick there. Nope no markings at all. How do I know if my pup is reacting to frontline. I still have 1 dosage left from my previous dog. Both of my previous dogs did not react to it and frontline worked really well with them. Was the puppy washed before or after the clip? I would definitely not use Frontline on a puppy. Like Clyde and Rysup I would use Advantage. Washed before. Why not frontline? Has it had bad results?
  21. haha could be. But we are being bitten underneath clothing. Maybe its hard to spot a black flea on a black coated dog... I seriously could not spot any markings.... The only reason I suspect it to be fleas is that he is scratching every now and again. But the breeder didn't mention anything about fleas on the pup so thats why i;m a bit baffled about what it could be.

  23. its a mini schanauzer.. I posted some pic in the schnauzer forum. I got the clip so I could follow the lines... he is wearing a jumper in the night. In the day time he runs around mad ;) Could it really be fleas? Isn't summer the season for fleas? Isn't frontline better? It treats for ticks and lice as well? My previous dog was on frontline with no issues
  24. Hi All I've just brought my new puppy home and it has been great! We however are having some problems with itching (not on the little pup) but on us! ;) I checked him and can't see any fleas in sight (its not flea season either) - he is clipped so should be relatively easy to spot. But i've been bitten by something like 10 times on my body and various family members have bites as well. He too is scratching a bit but i thought it was because he just had a haircut. Is it fleas and is it okay to use frontline on the pup @ 10 weeks old? The packaging says its okay on puppies older than 8 weeks.
  25. Hi I was wondering what brand people use for the baked dog bones that you use to close the kong. Besides the supermarket stuff and the iam/euk, I haven't seen any other available. Is there any recipes that you use to make your own treats you can share. I'm looking for something that can be kept for a while after making... not something that needs to be finished within 3 days. Any suggestions would be fab! Thanks
