  1. Lovely photos everyone, let me know if I haven't added you to the first post. :o

Zenith, your Day 3 shot is gorgeous! I love the DOF of it. What lens and f/stop did you use?

    Thanks :)

I used my Canon EFS 10-22mm @ 10mm and 3.5f, and I also used a flash remotely triggered to the right through an umbrella @ 1/32. Going to try and experiment with this lens a bit more as I've really only used it for Real Estate work.

  2. Great pictures everyone.

Pers we have had lots of those wasps around lately - I watched 1 catch a locust and drag it away.

My effort for today. Not great as I just used my iphone. I was reluctant to take the slr out there and it was tricky enough holding phone and hose and getting a picture while also watching out or Piper who likes to bite the nozzle. This is how Jazz likes to play on warm days.

    summer fun1

She and Piper both know while is is on mist and I am watering not to touch but as soon a I turn it to Jet, watch out!

Lol my BC is obsessed with water too :cheer:

    Great photos :D

  3. My poor Belgian was a quivering heap. We didn't have pretty fireworks courtesy of the clowns down the hill, we had canons. The little guy thought he was tough and barked at them. Old Columbus slept through it all since he is deaf as a post.

My biggest concern were the horses who were thundering around the paddock.

What rocket surgeon lets off fireworks in the middle of the bush?

Its so frustrating isn't it? Last night the people letting off fireworks also let them off on Christmas night, and we weren't really prepared for them. Last night they were also letting off bungers etc. Just silly there are so much valuable stock and horses on our place and the surrounding farms. We think we know the smaller block it was coming from, but proving it is a different story. Our horses startle to begin with then settle, as they are used to all the neighbours shooting.

  4. My BC didn't react, which is great as we have been desensitising him to storms/thunder and it seems to have worked with the fireworks. Our Mini Schnauzer cross on the other hand is gunshot phobic and really didn't like the fireworks - she was fine with those let off in a sequence, but the idiots that were letting them off randomly within a few kms away on their property when we were outside doing the horses, upset her more. Thankfully she's fine inside, just pants a bit, then she calmed down and went to sleep. We have a CD coming so we can desensitise her to gunshots etc too - its a little hard to do it without the help of some sound recordings when our neighbours go shooting randomly at all times of the day/night. All our horses are used to our neighbours shooting, so they were pretty good during the fireworks!

Unfortunately as we are rural so very very quiet, but surrounded by suburbia on 3 sides we can here the big fireworks from Sydney, Penrith, Silverdale, Camden and Campbelltown!

  5. I've found a few from the last three months (the rest are archived)

    My emotional favs:

Teddy on his 13th birthday - we lost him to brain tumours 2 weeks ago.

One from my first full frame sequence of a juvenile brown falcon - he'd just spotted his parent flying past to their roost tree with dinner. Unfortunately was in the rain and crappy light, plus he landed next to the perch I had set up, but either way I was excited :(

And first foal of the season - her first time on her feet and her Mum helping to keep her balanced!
