  1. morning! detroit is getting better everyday, she refuses to wee while laying down now and waits at the door until i let her out for a wee and poos. she is getting stronger and growls at our other pup when she comes to close! i will keep updating on her progess over the next week. Im so proud of her..... we just need to get her fattened up again now!
  2. Already way ahead of you! we have vials of Vit C the vet gave us =) im really proud of her she is doing really well, when we brought her home she was weeing while laying down but now she will get up if she needs the toilet and he wee is all clear now (it had myoglobin (sorry cant spell) in it on monday which it was vital for her recovery to have that cleared up which it did on wednesday.)
  3. Hi Everyone Its been a crazy week with the pups hence why I havent been on! on sunday after we took our pups to the vet they got put on drips and although we didnt have enough money for antivemon our vet was AWESOME. he gave us 2 vials of out of date antivenom (from the hospital) which one of the vet nurses went and picked up for us. this antivenom is the same as in date antivenom except it cannot be used on humans so vets often get it for free, hence they can pass it onto there customers. We were so stoked, detroit (our girl) responded really well to the antivenom but rambo (our boy) didnt as much. Both were pretty out of it for monday and we didnt know if they would pull though. unfortunetly our little boy passed away on tuesday morning. his muscles had just had enough and he couldnt go on. so its been extemely sad in our house this week. But im glad to say our girl is doing FANASTIC! she got back from the vet today, she is walking (still wobbly and gets very tired) sitting up, eatting drinking and barking! she has lost alot of weight but has a big appietate so vet said she will put it on fast. alot of intensive care for the next week or so. thank you to all how have prayed and though of our pups over this week and to all who have not been so supportive i dont really care what you think, you dont really know us or our situation, the people who are not supportive and caring and who choose to leave rude comments are the ones who make me sick! we have now gotten pet insurance for rocky and detroit so if anything happens in the future it can be covered. we also learnt ALOT about snake bites over the past week so we now know what to execpt if its to happen again.
  4. thanks for all your support and thoughts guys, like cazablanca we couldnt afford to pay upfront in out local vet but it looks as if we are goig to have to do some thing they have made it though the night but are completely paralized we are going to the vets now, they have gone majorly down hill in about 15mins
  5. sorry that was worded wrong - we did think much of it but wanted to see if any other symtoms occured before we took her to the vet.... yes out dogs are in the bedroom with us tonight incase anything happens... we live on property so its a bit hard for us..... 10 hectares.... we are now going to get the electric collar system so out dogs only stay around the house area.... no more wandering especially in early summer..... thanks for all your thoughts guys.... im heading off now to attend to them but will keep everyone posted on there progess.... I know there gonna come out on top... i hope.
  6. we have 3 puppies, two 22 week old sisters and a 18 week old male... When my husband got home from work this morning at about 11am he noticed of of the girls was foaming at the mouth and had alot of saliva all down her chest and legs, we were a bit freaked out but didnt think to much of it just kept a close eye on her. about 30mins later we noticed rambo our boy doing the same thing, both of them were really lethagic and couldnt stay up, we had a look over them and noticed a snake bite on detroits mouth (one of the girls), we rushed them straight to the vet, both tempts were high 44 and rising so they put them straight into the bath to cool them off. there eyes are the most saddest thing the third eye is completely covering there eyes, and they cant keep them open or stad up for long... were watching them tonight, they gotten bitten probably at about 10:30 this morning and its now 10pm at night so we hope they will be ok, they are very strong and have such a will to live. be thinking of our pups and praying, Ive been balling my eyes out all day but im trying to be strong, even our other girl rocky who is fine is looking sad. any one had experiences with snake bites? the vet told us that if they make it though tonight they will be ok, once there past 16hrs they have a total survival rate. he put them on a drip, but there is no way we could afford the anti-vemon its over 4000 to do both dogs but the vet said that he thinks they will be fine as it seems to be a baby snake that bit them as they would have died within 20mins of being bitten if it was a large snake. thanks for all your prayers, support and good vibes.... Im looking at my beautiful puppies now and i cant help but not keep the tears back
  7. rocky does this too! my hubbie winds her up and doesnt think it is bad when she does it to me i have stood up turn around, and ignored her, she hates this she will bark a few times and then settle down. hope that helps. ;)

  14. What are your thoughts on Pet insurance? is it worth it? do you have it? how do the different insurers compare? does any on have any stories in regards to pet insurance and their fluffy friends?
  15. thanks so much for all your replies! I would love to have 1 week off work when we get her but seeing as i have just taken 4 weeks off cause i just got married i dont think work will be to happy with taking more time off! Im not exsactly to sure where we will be getting her from as were still reseaching breeders but were still looking at 6 months until we want to get her or him! if anyone else know of any repuable breeders in WA drop me a line!
  16. hi! im new to the forum and hopefully will be getting my puppy shortly  an alaskan malamute so one of my biggest questions is when i get my pup how long should i take off work to care for her? do i need to take time off? i think it would be very hard on her! i want to give her all the correct training in the first weeks of coming to a new home but it seems abit unacceptable to take a few weeks off work to raise a puppy. what are your thoughts on this?
