What lenses do you have already? I ask because you may have something very suitable already & all you need is an extension tube. If so it'll save you a LOT of money.

Yes it's a bit of a worry isn't it. BTW thanks for finding the online version of the story.

More news from the Cessnock Advertiser on page 8... Alas I get the impression, from this article, that these reforms may either take some time to come about or maybe they won't be implemented at all...

750 signatures now, but a further 250 would be good. So please sign the petition, if you haven't already, & tell everyone you know about it.

Thanks for signing the petition hoffpig & getting your rellos to sign it too. Excellent stuff The petition is already listed in the General Rescue forum, as well as the General Dog Discussion forum, but just under a different title. It's also listing in the Kurri Pound thread that I do. Likewise it is also listed on some other rescue group websites, but not PetRescue (well not that I'm aware of) as I'm not a member there, as I'm not a rescue group whilst Kurri Pound is a member of PetRescue but I'm not authorised to use that account. There is also a Facebook group, which I've noticed I've not mentioned in this thread I've just realised (but it is in the other two), which can be found here at http://apps.facebook.com/causes/445182/117945782?m=71bb3202 It has about as many members as signatures to the petition. Above all thanks for your support. And if you know anyone at PetRescue please do pass on the details of the petition. There's one week left for the petition to run until it's presented to council.

Yeah it is very good news. Hopefully there's more coming. And here's the link to the 3 March meeting agenda where the report information is should anyone else want to read it: http://www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/resources/f...3032010_AGN.pdf

I LOVE it The 2x teleconverter has a bit of an impact on focus speeds and I don't think the D80 does it justice... bring on the D700 However, when researching I put it on a D300 and it better than the Nikon lens at AF speeds.... the HSM is brilliant! However, not sure how it compares to the SWD Shame they are bringing out an OS version of it shortly for me.... probably good for you though Thanks for the advice. It's a bit of a flick of the coin for me so things like AF speed would be an issue. Plus I'll have a 10mm gap between the 12-60 & the Sigma, where I won't with the 50-200. Still I can tolerate that given the Sigma is a lot cheaper. Sounds like it's back to coin flipping...
-
Ooohhhhh I must ask you SchnauzerBoy... what's the IQ of your Sigma 70-200 like? I'm thinking of getting the fourthirds version & I'm weighing it up against the Zuiko 50-200mm SWD.

More good news to finish off Friday... we've gone past 700 signatures for the petition, but another 300 would be ideal. So if you haven't signed it yet, please do so here: http://www.gopetition.com.au/petitions/ces...imal-pound.html And don't forget to tell everyone you know about it too :D

It certainly is. And I haven't mentioned it in this thread yet, but the council will be employing two more staff members. One will be an extra full-time ranger, whilst a new position will be created known as the pound "Co-ordinator". Hopefully that'll all mean that there are more hands, who can attend to the needs of the impounded animals, as against the current situation.

Some good news about the petition before it's even been handed into Council. Last Wednesday night the council voted to open the pound for significantly longer hours. I don't know exactly when this change will take place, but when it does the pound will now be open for 5 hours each day Monday - Friday & 3 hours on Saturday. That's a massive improvement on the current arrangement as it means the place will be open for 28 hours instead of the current four hours. But there's still other vital points. Council seems adamant that there won't be a volunteer program, whilst they're saying little about the other issues at the moment. So, in these other important aspects, the petition is still vital. So if you haven't signed it already, please do so here: http://www.gopetition.com.au/petitions/ces...imal-pound.html And don't forget to tell everyone you know

Now that's a BIG lens!

The Facebook group has reached an impressive 640 members! Whilst the petition is heading towards 700 signatures! So if you haven't joined the Facebook group yet, please do so here: http://apps.facebook.com/causes/445182/117945782?m=71bb3202 Meanwhile the petition can be found here: http://www.gopetition.com.au/petitions/ces...imal-pound.html And don't forget to tell everyone you know about both!

Yes, please do I got it for my pound work as I got disenchanted, I must admit, with the 18-180mm I've been using. It's a great workhorse, but I know the 12-60mm is far better glass.

I just got my new 12-60mm & it is huge! So I attached it to my E-420 (now in semi-retirement) & was surprised by how much bigger it is than the body itself! Here's four shots... So, for a bit of fun, post photos of your big lenses in comparision to your body(s)...
