  1. I noticed this hair loss and very pinkish skin today near her neck and traveling down towards her chest, it wasn't there yesterday. The only thing that has changed over the last couple of days was with her bath. On Sunday afternoon i had taken her to a park and she had gotten into something smelly so she needed a bath. I had run out of dog shampoo and used Macadamia soap as she really needed the bath. Could this have caused this type of reaction? I honestly thought this wouldn't have been a problem as there's nothing harmful within the soap. She also has a few fleas at the moment, but they seem to be more towards her back end. She's eating and playing ok and doesn't seem to be scratching at it. Here's what it looks like. Should i give it a couple of days too see if it improves before taking her to the vet?
  2. Cynthia, i agree with Rysup about allergies. That's what it sounds like too me as well. Last Friday i bought a 7kg bag of Orijen for my girl, feed her as normal and when i woke up on Saturday morning i wasn't feeling well. It seemed as soon as i got anywhere close to my girl, my tongue would swell up etc. At first i couldn't work out what it was, but i've finally worked out that the Tonic Herbs and Botanicals in the food was coming out of her pores and my system was reacting badly. It now looks like i'll be getting rid of the Orijen and going back onto Super Coat as i didn't have this adverse reaction. Maybe your system is reacting to a preservative in the canned food. Have you tried using a different brand?
  3. I've also noticed Angee's softer stools. She also gets grumbly wind noises in the tummy too!
  4. The pugs love 'possum poo treaties'
  5. Hehe schnauzer_luv. I know what you mean. Angee adores them too and nearly turns herself inside out with excitement when she sees them. In regards to the poo department. I've already noticed a big difference in how many times Angee goes a day (much less) and she's only been on Orijen since last Friday.
  6. My girl is going through a phase at the moment of eating possum poo.
  7. My trial pack of the Adult Orijen arrived this morning from 4paws. Gave Angee a few to try and she absolutely loved it. I'll see how she goes on it over the next few days and then i'll order a bigger packet. I also got some dried Tuna treats and they were a big hit also.

    Best Puppy Toys?

I think the pet store at Castle Hill Homemakers has it... The store that has Ned, the Newfie. Thanks TerraNik. I'll have to check it out. I bought Angee a mini Leo for mental stimulation and she loves it.
  9. Thanks for the advice Jigsaw. We do give her heaps of praise or treats when she's gone outside. She's had a full vet check and is fine. We normally do try to notice the circling and sniffing but sometimes we only have to turn our backs on her for 10 secs and the job has been done. We will try to be more vigilant with watching her. That's really interesting to know about some females not going outside of their own territory (i didn't know this) and probably explains why she won't go elsewhere. I'm also wondering, we have had cats for the past 17 years ( don't have any now), could a cat smell in the carpet be enticing her to go indoors?
  10. I've ordered a sample pack of Orijen Adult from 4paws (excellent service), it should be here tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how my girl goes on it, she can be finicky with food.
  11. My rescue dog (Angee) has been doing really well indoors doing her job on training pads, we also take her outside for her jobbies. We have had her since the end of July and except for the occasional mishap we thought we had it all under control. However, over the last week we'd take her outside for a wee wee and she does nothing, get her back upstairs and 5 minutes later she's doing it on the carpet. She can also spend an hour at a park and do nothing, it's like she's holding it until she gets home. She is also now starting to do her number 2 inside too. We have been ignoring her when this happens, we have also given her a sharp NO and placed her on the training pad straight away but these things don't seem to be working at the moment. The OH and myself are at a loss as to why this has just recently started. With the things we've tried we don't know how to rectify this problem with her. If anyone has suggestions as to what to try now i'm all ears, plus my carpet and sanity will be forever grateful. *edit* I forgot to mention with the cleaning up, we soak up all the mess, then i hit it with bi carb and water, re-soak it all up and then use white vinegar and water and do a final soak up, so i don't think the smell is the problem.

    Best Puppy Toys?

Jedi and Snot are gorgeous. I'm interested in getting the Nyla bones for my girl. Anyone know of any places in Sydney that stock them? Also, i saw a soft material cube/box on a training DVD that has slits in each side and you can put soft balls in there and also hide treats in it. I have no idea what it's called or if it's available in Australia? Does anyone know or seen this toy anywhere?
  13. I have a cheap Chinese butcher not far away from me so i'll see what they have tomorrow. I have another question. Is there anything that should be avoided?
  14. Thanks heaps for that kosti. I'm writing them all done on a pad as i read this. Thanks to for the heads up on lamb being fattening i will definitely keep that in mind. She's 5.6kg at the moment which seems to suit her, the vet said her maximum weight would be 6kg nothing above that. I've had dogs as a child, but for the past 17 years i've been a cat owner so this is a new learning curve for me. Thanks for the replies.
  15. Thanks for the really quick reply bosskrotties. The lamb flaps sound good, i'll get some tomorrow. I'm assuming these can only be purchased at a butchers and not in supermarkets?
  16. I gave my Chi X girl chicken necks for the first time the other night and she absolutely loved them. I would really like to give her a variety of suitable bones, but don't have a clue what else to get because i'm a first time Chi owner. Here is a pic of her to give you an idea of her size, she's bigger than normal, i'm guessing she has some JRT in her? Thanks in advance.
  17. I too, would appreciate a price list via PM please.
  18. I'm at Manly and Districts website now taking a look, it looks good. Once i get Angee's vac certificate we will give Mosman a try. Thanks heaps for that Kavik, appreciate it.
  19. I am not on that side of Northern Sydney, but I know there are obedience clubs at Hornsby, Castle Hill, Concord, Homebush, Eastwood. I think there is one closer to you though, but I can't remember the suburb it's in. Thanks for the reply TerraNik. I rang the Lane Cove Council today about clubs in or near my area and they were no help at all. If you happen to remember the other suburb could you please let me know.
  20. I'm assuming since no one has replied there are no Obedience Clubs in the Lane Cove area. What about any suburbs on Sydney's North side?
  21. Last weekend i picked up the lambswool lounger cushion and my dog loves it. Every opportunity she gets she's on it watching the Olympics.. LOL!! I'm looking at getting a cuddler in the near future. I don't mind paying extra for quality products.
  22. Angee is a 10 month old rescue dog who needs some training. Can anyone recommend either an Obedience club or a Trainer in Sydney's Lane Cove or Chatswood areas. Thanks!
  23. I would try Rescue Remedy drops/spray. I had a cat who would hyperventilate and have panic attacks when he was put in the car in his carry cage, the Rescue spray worked very well. My vet also gave him a squirt before his operation and during his recovery in the cage. ;)
  24. I've heard that a few eucalyptus drops added to water and sprayed on carpets and added to the washing of bedding etc, works with fleas.
