  1. I'm so sorry to hear Tobias had to travel over May he RIP
  2. Thanks Sandra, I just want everything to be safe for our girl and if I have to wait another 3 months then I will. There's no chance of an opps pregnancy as she's with me at all times and locked up when we go out. I just read your edit KW Thanks Sharon
  3. Thanks for that, i'll book her in for de-sexing in 2 weeks.
  4. I have a beautiful 2 yr old Lab and have no intentions of mating her. I have only had her since last year and have been meaning to get her de-sexed but other things have come up and now she's in season. I don't have to worry about dogs as we live on a property and I lock her up when I go out. My question is how long do I have to wait before she is off heat so I can get her de-sexed safely. She has been spotting since last week. Thanks Sharon
  5. Thanks Eileen! :D Yes we got Honey early December from Golden Retriever rescue- she has been a wonderful healing addition to our family. She is divine!! Hi Sharon! I was wondering how your Honey was going! I am lucky, once I got our Honey moving, she loved the exercise. It'd be hard if she didnt. I do make her walk up to the front gate every morning to drop off my son at the bus, she does have a little run then but after that she is back to her lazy self . She is beautiful, gentle and loves my son to bits. I'll try and get some new piccies of her and post them.
  6. Dee, Honey looks beautiful. I get angry at people wanting fat dogs (my Ex was one of them) My "Honey" has a weight problem as she is lazy lol. I have had to cut down her food (much to her disgust) but it's for her own good. Take Care Sharon
  7. Update I thought I would come in and update you all with what is happening with Digi. He had his assessment done last week and he was such a good boy until a young child went past on his bike. The trainer saw then he is stressed by young children. She said he is a beautiful boy but will need someone who has experience with Giant Breeds and without young children. I was notified yesterday that a Foster Home has been found for Digi, I have to take him to meet his new foster mum on Wednesday. I have been in tears since finding out he will be gone on Wednesday but I know that he will find a loving home and that's all I want for him. I will be spending all my free time with him and taking lots of photos before I say goodbye forever. Thankyou to everyone that has given me so much support with your posts here and the PM's I have recieved they have helped so much. Sharon
  8. Thanks Mym, I'm continuing all training with Digi but the situation with my son will never get better. If my trainer had've said to me "Sharon, we can fix this" I would be doing it in a flash ( I was hoping she would say it) Yes it has happened over time and I blame myself not reading the signs, I thought Digi was going through his puppy stage of jumping etc and I never thought he would get so aggressive with my son. I feel as if I have failed Digi and it's breaking my heart . Thanks again for the support Sharon
  9. Update: I still have Digi, the couple from the weekend didn't work out. I have made contact with some other people so will be hoping someone can give Digi the home he deserves. Cassie, OMG this has been so hard as you know how much I love the big boofa. I was trying so hard to work through the problems with Digi as I really thought it was his Teen stage coming to light LOL you know how these boofas can be at that age. BDL, I wish we could keep Digi but after speaking to our trainer and her saying the best action is to rehome Digi, it's best this way. I have been in touch with The Newfoundland Club NSW so I'm hoping they can help with this situation but I might also go on the Newfy Thread and ask there. Tony Our trainer said something similar and that's why she has reccommended Digi gets rehomed. Sharon
  10. Digi grabs my arm and hand at times and I know he's playing. He is a beautiful dog and calm with me but when it comes to my son he isn't. Redarachnid To get Digi back to her would be a great expense to us both and more distressing for Digi I have spoken to the trainer we have seen and she is prepared to help with the person who Digi is placed with. Dee, Thank you for your kind words. This is the hardest thing I have had to do. xx I know that some would not agree with what I'm doing but after speaking with my trainer I know that it's the right thing to do for Digi and my son. I have a lovely woman and her husband coming out on Sunday to meet Digi, they have owned a Newfie before and I have explained the reason for the rehoming. Nothing is concrete yet we'll just have to wait and see. Sharon
  11. Thankyou for all your replies. I have done a lot of thinking over the last 24 hrs and I have decided that the best thing to do for everyone involved is to re-home Digi. It wont be a quick process as I will make sure that he goes to someone that will love him as much as I do and of course with no small children. I have been in tears all day but I have to think about my son foremost. Thank you again Sharon :D
  12. I'm having trouble with Digi my Newfy. He is great with me and we have training sessions once to twice a day at home as I live on 5 acres. Now my problem, he has tried to bite my 6 yr old son when he comes near me. I'm thankful that he's on the lead when this has happened or else my son would be knocked over and hurt. My son wont go outside if Digi is off his lead (I don't blame him). I'm getting scared of the situation and I'm at a lost at what to do next. Do I consider rehoming Digi in a family with no children or do I persevere. Sharon
  13. My friend has been sending emails out all weekend in hope to save Bruce. Has anyone heard what has happened today???
  14. I've heard great things about Uncle Albers & Great Barko. I will be changing my boy over once he gets to a certain age.
  15. Mine can't get to the cat poo buut he sure loves chicken poo
  16. Thanks Erny, I didn't know they couldn't digest them properly.
  17. I never thought a dog couldn't swim. I will have to keep an eye on my boy and take it easy with him. I've seen those life jackets for dogs and i think they are cute lol
  18. Whatever it is I'm so pleased that your boy hasn't got his flakey skin any more, it would be a relief for you both.
  19. I'm sorry I don't know any Butchers that side of the river as I lived in the Wheatbelt before moving. I get my Chicken Mince from Lenards. Good Luck
  20. I'm so pleased he will be okay, hope the infection isn't to painful for him.
  21. I moved from WA to NSW and I'm trying to get use to calling it Devon, should see the looks when I say Polony It's trial and error with diet for your fur baby but you will get the combination right. I feed my Newfy pup Optimum Puppy Dry food (his breeder fed him that) every so often. Which area are you in????? It would be great if you could find a good butcher for all your needs. I think I'm spoilt here as bones, chicken frames are all a Gold Coin Donation I normally put in $5 every time as it's going to a great cause.
  22. MyMolly Are you in WA?????? The only reason I ask is you called the rolled food Polony . I feed my Newfy Pup Chicken Frames/wings/necks, chicken mince, eggs twice a week, sardines twice a week and I also give him some nice meaty bones. I do give him Pet mince but not a lot as he has a problem with east/west paws and I was told to cut his protein down.
