Thanks anyway.
Further information for those coming to the Cooma shows. There is a public hydrobath dog wash at the Shell Service Station in the main street (Sharp Street). Don't know what it is like but I guess it could help if your dog somehow got itself into a big mess.
Also, for a budget price, someone trained to implant the newly accredited mini-microchips will be available.
Hope to see you all there. :)

Hi all,
Just a reminder that the entries for the Cooma Shows are closing this Friday 28th September. Entries can be made with Ozentries up until that day. To those who are already entered, the Club Committee look forward to making your time at Cooma a good time. Remember that early October can still be cool so pack some thermals and a jacket. We are still needing a Judge for Junior Handlers at lunchtime on Saturday and need one more Ring Steward for all three days. If anyone is able to help us out it would be greatly appreciated.

It stands for Progressive Retinal Atrophy and means progressive blindness, from night blindness to eventually day blindness to...Blindness

What meds is he on for Cushings and have you noticed any improvement in his derriere?
-
There is a whisper this is a purebred breeder - notice it said terriers and spaniels. Either way thank God they found them and helped the animals.
Why spread pure speculation? or do you have further information?

Forever in our hearts. RIP Barney.

In an unfenced front yard I would expect the dog to be on leash because there is nothing to prevent it running uncontrolled into public space. If an unleashed dog rushed out of its front yard, away from its owner and up to my dogs , their would be Trouble Bigtime. The first thing you need to have a dog is a securely fenced yard, Surely?

There was a great article on the front page of the Sydney Morning Herald on the 21st December featuring a basket full of red kelpie puppies entitled "No sstocking fillers, these little reds want room to move." :)

There are several other purebred registries in Australia and one other all breeds registry whioch has harder criteria than the ANKC to register puppies ...
Harder criteria than a five generation pedigree?
-
Prospective puppy owners need to be taught to ask "registered with whom?"
-
Yes indeed! The general run of folk are so gullible only because they just don't know any different which is why the ANKC, through its State member bodies, need to step up to the mark and do a lot better in the areas of eductation, publicity, public relations amongst others.
-
Yes, LizT and buddy1, there are other registries of dogs which are not recognised by the ANKC. Some groups like the Master Dog Breeders of Australia accept interest from breeders "from any bona fide reegistry" (?)
Some examples of registries which are not recognised by the Australian Kennel Club would be the American Pitbull Registry which aims to be a international registry for pitbulls, and The Koolie Club of Australia who are trying very hard to standardise and define the Koolie so that they can apply to be recognised as a distinct breed by the ANKC. By 'a distinct breed' I mean a breed which consistently breeds true to type and has breeding records going back five or more generations so that everyone can see which doggs an individual is descended from.
There are many concerns about aspects of the ANKC's operations BUT it still remains the only legitimate registry of purebred/pedigreed dogs in Australia and while the ANKC continues to hold these records, it will retain its status.

Great for seeing the double suspension gallop

Hear! Hear! Every word is so very True.

Someone else might be able to confirm this, but I believe the boxer bitches were all withdrawn due to there being questionable ethics about the dog challenge award. My friend was showing a doberman and they were caught napping and had to rush when the group was considerably shortened.
Sounds Fascinating! ?
