  1. Does this rule apply to 1/2 brother to 1/2 sister matings , I had a look at the rules and could not find any more info No. The rule states father/daughter, mother/son and brother/sister. Thank You Sandra
  2. My grand daughter who is 15 years old was doing work experience for a Doggy Day Care Centre in an affluent Melbourne suburb, she was asked to groom a doberman , who was growling while being groomed, she complained to staff and was politely told that it didn't matter,to keep grooming him, while walking a dog , the dog pulled, got off the lead, my grand daughter fell over on the road trying to stop him and was hurt, what is scary, is that you think your dogs are safe and are being well cared for, when they are being put in the hands of inexperienced teenagers who are also getting hurt, my grand daughter is used to dogs, she has 1 dog of her own and when she visits she plays with my JRT's , but she is a little bit timid, she could have been seriously hurt, she didn't mind the tasks of cleaning doggy doo ect, her parents and the school decided that it was not safe for her to go back to the Doggy Day Care, if you put your Dog into Day Care, make sure what thier policy is with staff and if they have work experience students,

  4. I would be pleased to be able to apply for a Breeders Prefix, but with Vic Dogs new ruling I cannot apply for 12 months as I am a new member, I have had my 2 girls for a while and was waiting to aquire the right stud dog before registering , I was 8 days short of the cut off date,I would have been on time but was waiting for paperwork from an interstate breeder, there was no mention of the new ruling in the monthly gazette, and Victoria is the only state to enforce it at the momemnt, If I lived in NSW I would be able to register a Prefix, I could understand more if within that 12 months Vic dogs supplied some sort of information seminars to help new breeders, I did apeal but was rejected Is this ruling going to make more BYB or help stop BYB
  5. You would be better to ring Vic Dogs and find out for sure, if you have the bitches pedigree number they will be able to tell you whom she is registered to, with ANKC all states seem to have different rules so it would be wise to check, I am assuming you live in Victoria???
  6. I am sure the owner of the bitch has be a member of Dogs Vic, then on the back of the bitch's paperwork there is a lease agreement, Vic Dogs has a new ruling now that as of the 15 th November 2011 that all new members applying for a prefix must have a membership for 12 months , if the bitch is still in the original breeders name , which she possibly would be if the new owner hasn't joined Vic Dogs, then maybe she can transferred/leased to you by the original owner/breeder, I hope this makes sense
  7. I have just joined Vic dogs and so far I cannot say it has been a pleasant experience, very off putting to say the least, phone calls are short and abrupt with no explanations, I got more information from Dogs NSW at a cost of a dearer phone call, the lady was pleasant, did not treat me like an idiot, 1 feel like moving to NSW(lol)
  8. I sent my membership off today for ANKC, didn't mind sending a copy of my license for ID, what I did mind was being told as a new member I could not apply for a Breeders Prefix for 12 months, apparently it came into affect on 15 th November,
  9. Just a thought on a refund - when the dog was sold to a pet home, who kept the money, if you did and they won't agree to another pup then perhaps you can at least get the difference in the purchase price and the pet price of the pup and start looking for another dog. There is little comfort in being told "forget about and move on, put it down to experience". You do move on but you don't forget. I sold him for less than a 1/4 of what I paid for him, his new home was more important and by this stage he was over 2,
  10. Yep that is the way it happened, he was just over 2 when he was rehomed
  11. yep. the first test is an easy one .. and will certainly tell you if the dog is producing swimmers . "going thru the motions" may just mean he is inexperienced and needs help ..or it may mean the bitches weren't ready/ The bitches were well and truly ready, the point is the breeder that bred him classed him as a non breeder as apparently it is in her lines, she told me to get rid of him and he would be replaced with different lines, the breeder in question told me she would replace him in writing and now has turned around and said she is not, the question I am asking is, If you promised a purchaser of one of your dogs that you bred ,that you would replace the dog in question , then turn around 8 months later and say no, when the dog has already been desexed and gone to a pet home on the breeders advice Hang on, you just said the the person concerned said to get rid of the dog and it would be replaced. Have you got of rid of the dog ?. Lots of breeders ask that the the dog be de sexed and when you give proof of the de sexing they let you keep the dog then replace or sometimes they ask for the return of the dog then replace. Maybe it may be best if you return the dog and receive another. Looks like the dog has already been desexed and placed in a pet home on the breeders advice and Jay57 was expecting another dog as a replacement - now the breeder has gone back on their word. Is this right? Personally I would have had the dog tested and given him time to mature before desexing and rehoming. I wonder if the breeder had changed their mind on you having the lines for some reason - seems strange to me. *posted at the same time as the OP.
  12. The dog has been desexed and gone to a pet home as advised by the original breeder, he lives with a poodle who is also desexed, it was a very hard thing to do as we loved the dog and he did have a wonderful temperment,
  13. She told me that Dogs NSW said she didn't have to replace the dog which I fully understand as it is not a breach of rules, but why tell me to get rid of the dog then go back on her word 8 months later, would you as a breeder do this, I might be completely in the wrong in this matter ,but morally would you keep your word,
  14. I don't really understand your question? Obviously if the breeder said that they were going to replace the dog, and you have this in writing, then yes they should be replacing the dog. Has the breeder told you why they are going back on this agreement?

  16. I got the dog when he was 15 months old, he was put to 3 bitches twice that had whelped before, he was in with the breeders bitch before he come down from interstate, she didn't produce either, I have it an email stating that she would replace the dog with a puppy, which she has now gone back on her word as she now has a litter of puppies . I think that is why I am so upset, I have been waiting since February and she didn't even have the decency to tell me that she had changed her mind
  17. If you buy a dog off a registered breeder to use as a stud dog, and this is stated on purchase, what would you do as a breeder if the dog turned out to be a non producer,
