I don't know exactly about the bones, 'cause we threw them away after the scary first reaction we got from out dog The bones, should be okay, 'cause I seen heaps of other people buy them, but you could probably keep track of this thread and see if any one else has a better experience Apparent the 'fat' on the bone's totally fine and your dog should be too; that is if the poos afterwards got more solid... if yes, then he probably got the dirt and stuff out of his system or something...

He was pretty crazy over the chicken necks, when I first gave them to him, but like Sandra said, I taught him that taking things away and giving it back later... but maybe 'cause the dog bones are new? Dunno, I'll get to work on the problem immediately, but I eat pretty late and he eats lunch really early so won't he be hungry? -thanks for the help

Ah sorry! I didn't mean salted 'ham' bone; it's raw and pre-salted the ham bone bit is just so you can get a rough idea of the size.

Okay. I feed my J. Spitz Chicken necks and he's eaten like 2 everyday for almost his entire life on the advice of the breeder we got him from. We've recently decided to get him a large PORK bone (I think it's a ham bone) that's slightly bigger than his head (can't tell for sure 'cause there's too much fluff LOL) and we plan to give it to him when we eat dinner and then take it away again afterwards. Looking around on the internet, some people are all for raw bones, some people are totally against them, and some are only against chicken and pork bones because they'll splinter etc. I don't want anything like that to happen. Also, last time we went to the butchers and bought one of those bags labeled 'dog bones' for $1, but they looked a little fatty... also, when my mom put it infront of him, he just started growling... really scarily. He would look at us and growl (he doesn't growl at anything else except loud noises from the next-door neighbor's children) when we got about 2+m from him, he stopped and started to lick it and proceeded to growl at us again when we got within a cm of that 2m radius. really freaky experience. We tried to get him away from the bone by offering liver treats that he usually drops everything for, but he wouldn't budge. In the end, going outside was the only incentive he would take and even then he was hesitant about leaving the bone... So how should I give the bone to him so that it won't cause crazy excessive aggression? EDIT: It's not a SALTED bone. It's a ham-sized-ish bone that is raw and pre-salted ;) Sorry for the confusion.

um.. the cat's not mine... any suggestions on keeping the cat off my property would be good though

I'm sorry if this comes across as a bit idiotic, but what's a 'cat run' exactly?

MissPepper: My dog's an 8 month old J spitz and looks alot bigger than he actually is due to fluff. The cat'd be roughly the same size, just alot longer and slightly skinner, so technically bigger than my pup.

Ok. I have a 8 month and two week old puppy, who's adorable most of the time. He spends most of his time as an inside dog, but recently we've started letting him out, however the next-door neighbour's cat frequently visits our garden and sleeps here (I think the cat thinks that our backyard is his territory). I think that behavior was encouraged from ages ago, before we got Ferrari. When Ferrari finds the cat in the back yard, he starts to whine and tries to approach it, jumps back, whines and tries to approach it again. The cat I'm presuming is hissing (I've never owned a cat and I'm not quite sure what hissing sounds like, but I can tell the cat doesn't sound to happy, 'cause I've heard it purr) and I'm afraid that one day, when we let the dog out there's going to be an altercation. Normally, when I find out that Ferrari's found the cat, I try and call him to me and hold on to him. Then I sit with him for a while staring at the cat, which by this stage settles down, but I still don't trust the cat not to suddenly pounce on Ferrari, so I end up taking him back in... What should I do? I really want Ferrari to be able to roam our backyard without getting attacked by the cat. Help!!!

Where exactly are they? and what times? If they are close to my house, I might be able to convince my mum to either drop me off or let me walk.

My Ferrari is almost 4 months old and i've been looking around for a puppy school, but haven't had much luck. Does anyone know any in the N-E suburbs of Melbourne; near Bulleen? I'm looking for lessons on Saturday or Sunday afternoons as those are the only times avaliable. Any help will be appreciated!

My new puppy currently a bit over 9 weeks old Name: Ferrari D.O.B: 24 Oct. 2008 Breed: Japanese Spitz Colour: White Hobbies: sleeping, watching me, following me, running around in circles around the house Loves: pigs ears, chewing on everything, squeaky toys, meat Hates: not much yet, except waking up alone and his leash Ferrari! and Ferrari again

oh and I forgot to mention, he barks randomly too and I don't want it to become a problem when he's an adult. What should I do? He barks at the window at moving branches outside (I think, because when I go there, that's all I see) and then sometimes proceeds to lick the windows... dunno why He also randomly barks at my mom's slippers while she's wearing them and gets down into what I think is a submissive position (he looks like he wants to play, but his but doesn't wag and he tends to flatten himself to the floor) it only happens with her and we don't know why... any help is appreciated!!
