  1. I have 2 Labs A brother and Sister Littermates. They are now 7 months old. I have found it challenging, Although nowhere near as bad As i thought it would be. From the time we got them at 11 weeks old, We have made sure they get one on one time alone with us. They are very bonded to eachother, Although I am extremely close to both of them, As are the kids and Hubby. We have had them at obedience training same night but different classes, I have one and my 11 year old has the other in the other class. It has worked out well that way. To be honest the hardest thing for me would be doubling up on everything, Vet bills ETC. I get asked all the time if I had the time over Would I get one at a time. And I wouldn't They keep eachother company, It is great to see them together. They have never fought over anything. They take turns to eat It is very cute to see. I think I have lucked out BIG Time with my 2 They are Marvellous. Goodluck with your Decision. I have to add I have heard not to get 2 girls Either
  2. hi sorry yo hijack Was wondering if any one knows where to get Great Barko or uncle albers in Logan, Brisbane
  3. Thanks.. I haven't useda ny more Powder. They are looking really good. My boy is pretty much cleared up. My girl is sooooo much better than she was. I have just washed them in their Malaseb again. Making sure I have completely dried them. They are much happier today too.
  4. My boy is looking alot better. His ones on his belly have dried up. However my poor girl still has a long way to go. I rang my vet again today to see whether or not I needed to put any cream on her neck. I was told the Malaseb wash with the anti biotics should clear it up. If they haven't then to go back to the Vet and she will give me some cream. I bought some curash Powder and have pu ththat on both of them. Don't know if it's helping. But my girls have dried up a bit since yesterday. I hate seeing them in this condition. It is yucky..Poor things
  5. Just got back from the Vet.. My poor babys, They have a bacterial skin infection. And my girl has a bad case of Hotspots on and around her neck. They were given an injection of cortisone each. They are on anti-biotics And I have to Bath them in Malaseb 2 times a week. My vet said to wash my girls hotspots with warm water and salt twice a day, making sure to pat dry properly. She was also clipped back and sores were washed and antiseptic cream was applied. I was not told to buy any cream for her though. I feel terrible I should have noticed earlier then they wouldn't be so bad. Thanks everyone for your help. Oh and forgot to say The vet seems to think they have picked the infection up at our local Dog wash up at the BP servo. Apparently they have had 5 dogs in the past week come in with the same thing as my 2. And they all had bathed their dogs up there within a week of getting the infection. So won't be going there agin.
  6. I have an appointment with my vet first thing in the morning. My girl has these horrible scabby sores all on the top of her neck they feel like bumps all under her skin then when you pull the fur back it is all scabby and wet. HORRIBLE! I just had a thought you know those mushrooms that grow after you have had heaps of rain. Could that be the problem maybe? Oh well I will find out tomorrow morning. He was the worst yesterday now she has them terribly all around her neck and side. Thanks everyone for your comments. I will let you know what the vet says. Thanks again
  7. I have just noticed my 2 dogs both have these sores all over them. Alot on their Bellys, But also on their necks and other places. They seem to be wet and pus like to start with then they dry up and become scabby sores. I am so upset for them it must be so uncomfortable. So a vet Visit tomorrow. But I was hoping someone might know what is going on? http://i407.photobucket.com/albums/pp160/s.../Picture112.jpg[/img] http://i407.photobucket.com/albums/pp160/s.../Picture109.jpg[/img]
  8. The Vet told me to put him on Adult Kibble, He didn't mention anything about Diet Kibble. I Currently have him on Adult Innova. He Gets 1 turkey Neck or Meaty Bone or Chicken Frame in the Morning, Then at night he Gets 1 1/2 Cups of Innova with Sardines or an egg And Yogurt couple of times a week about a tablespoon mixed in with the kibble. That is A MAJOR! Cut back compared to what I was feeding him. I can see in the past week on the new Diet, He has lost some weight. I have to take him back to the vet in 4 days to weigh him.
  9. Ok so I had to take my Boy to the Vet Today. Turns out he has a torn Ligament. Well the Vet has said to Put my boy on a diet I Have to agree I have cut his food back ALOT! in the past 2 weeks. But what suprised me was he said to Feed Kibble only. I have never heard of that. So I asked him if One bone a day is ok if his main meal is Kibble And i also asked if i could continue feeding sardines and yogurt with the Kibble. He said that's fine But no mince or anyhting like that. So was wondering if that sounds like a suitable Diet For him? Oh he is a 7 Month old Lab 36.5 kg He is a Big Big Boy.
  10. OMG I have just Read all the posts....I gave my dogs the ham bone on xmas day. 12. Hi I have a 6 Month old Labbie Boy who I have noticed Is limping when he is walking on the lead or when he is going for a run in the park. I have checked his Paws to see if he has a cut on any of his paws. He doesn't. They can be quite dry though. I have rubbed cream into them, and they seemed to get a little bit better. I thought I would come on here and see if any one has any Ideas, But i think I will ring my vet too.
  13. Thanks Everyone. I had her at the Vet first thing this morning. He said that the lump was there due to her Being too active and the internal stitches rubbing up against one and other, causing inflamation. To add she also has an eye infection too now. What a stressful few days I have had. He also gave both of the pups a mild sedative. Oh and he said to bath the wound. I am a little confused as to why There is conflicting advice on this. I am not going to Bath it unless I see it becoming Infected. Thank goodness they only get desexed once. Don't think I could handle it again.
  14. Conflicting advice on the Bathing. The vet Nurse had actually said to me to bath it with warm water and small amount of salt. I will keep an eye on it tonight and ring my Vet first thing in the morning. Thanks
  15. Hi My female Lab was desexed on Friday. She has been fine since. I have been trying my best to keep her and her Brother from Playing too rough. I have just noticed a Hard Lump On one side of her Desexing Wound. The lump is about the same length as the wound itself. The other side is fine normal and soft to touch. Has anyone had experience with this happening to their Recently desexed Females? I Don't Know whether or not to go to the after hours Vet. Or just wait til the morning and ring my Vet. 2 of her stitches have loosened but not opened. I have been bathing it with warm water and applying a antiseptic (sp?) spray.
  16. Hi Took him back to the vet yesterday. And he tied the stitch back up. I also bought an E Collar. I should have got them on the day They came home. But instead I bought a bitter antiseptic (SP?) spray. Thanks for the advice
  17. My Male Puppy Was desexed Yesterday. I have just checked on him and one of the stitches has come un done. What should I do?? Call the Vet?

  19. JME mine are Labs so maybe because they would fall into the large dog breeds?
  20. JME I also am with RSPCA and have 2 dogs on the second best cover but i pay $70 per month I wonder why that is? Maybe different breeds of dogs incur higher prices
  21. I'm with RSPCA Insurance I pay $70 per month for 2 dogs. I haven't had to use it yet thank goodness. It apparently works out that they pay 80% of the bill while we pay the remaiining 20%. Haven't heard of that one although sounds great 100% up to $15,000. Wish I had seen that one
  22. Must First say Mine are only 20 weeks old. So Haven't had that much experience with trying different things yet.
