  1. He has served his time in prison and while i dont beleive his punishment was anywhere near harsh enough, it would not be fair or legal to stop him from resuming his career.. if they stop him from playing because he is a convicted felon, then they have to stop every convicted felon from playing and they wouldnt have any players left if that was the case..
  2. id be more worried about getting back in, because without papers that say you dog is an amstaff you would be pretty much screwed...
  3. hes done his time in prison, i dont think it was nearly long enough for what he did but at the end of the day his debt has been paid and he has every right to resume his career...
  4. hey guys, im looking for good anti-bsl info, preferably info from australia, thanks in advance for any help...
  5. if you have any paperwork from the shelter stating that he is an amstaff, then keep that, if hes been released once as an amstaff theres no good reason that they can say he is a pitbull. i wouldnt stress to much, but always be aware and careful..
  6. PPS- what would stop council saying that wobbly's dog is a pitbull if done as you suggest, thats just going looking for trouble.
  7. this has got to be a first, staffies generally love water and have no trouble swimming, like you said she freaked out and her panicking wouldnt of helped her being able to swim, id suggest next time not through the stick in so deep that she cant touch and working her up to deeper depths.. i have no real idea though, im taking my amstaff for her first swim this weekend so hopefully all goes well, the dogs i had as a kid had no issue at all with water and went straight into the middle first go, oskkar our golden retreiver boy broke leads all the time to get to the water..
  8. hey my amstaff doesnt have papers and isnt old enough anyway, but if you could put some event details up id be interested in coming to have a look atleast..
  9. while your right that many more dogs without issues could have been rehomed for the same money, but the way i choose to look at it is that they havent just helped these few dogs they, have helped the whole breed by bringing a little bit good media attention and sympathy to pit bulls in general and showing that any breed can be great in the right hands even dogs with a questionable past, instead of the overhyped coverage about how bad and apparently prone to attack they are. pitbulls need more positive attention like this, its just sad they had to be so badly abused to get the life they deserve..
  10. Im going to see my dad in the morning so while im there ill see if the dog is getting any better or whatever and talk to my dad more about why the vet thought that was the best action to take ect..
  11. i think it was more a case of him being told it was that it was the cause of the problem (i still cant see how), and him wanting the best for the dog. i personally dont see the need to give him the chop (if it wasnt causing the problem), he is a beautifully behaved dog, we had a golden retriever bitch who was a master escape artist so as a result the yard is now excellently fenced and there isnt a chance in hell of him getting out and getting into trouble.. Im a little annoyed at the whole thing really, i think it was a harsh choice be the vet and there may have been other options.. being christmas day aswell there isnt alot of vets open to choose from either..
  12. Just been over to see my dad for christmas, and he was telling me that he had to take his dog to the vet today because the dogs penis wouldnt go back in, so at the vet they knocked him out and put it back in, and then desexed him, im pretty sure this wasnt something my dad wanted done but did it anyway believing the vet that it would fix the problem.. now as soon as they got back home the same thing happened and he still has a bit hanging out.. anyway i dont see how desexing can fix this issue and it clearly hasnt fixed anything..
  13. I dont want to start an argument but who do you think you are? I did not have 100% intention to buy my pup from a breeder, i dont see anything wrong with a "backyard breeder" as ou called it. I was not IMPATIENT , i just didnt see the big deal in waiting for a breeder when their is nothing wrong with buying one from anywhere. The pup was vaccinated, wormed, and micro chipped. He is in good health as i am now aware it was his food i was feeding him that was his problem. From personal experience my aunt bought her 1st boxer from a breeder. It died a week later. My uncle has bought all his boxers from breeders. He has had 5 in the last 23 yrs ive been around. They all died. Not saying that its BECAUSE they were from breeders, but whats makes breeders different? And i do not agree with buying a pup from interstate. I was always told don't pick the pup let the pup pick you. How do i know ill get a pup with a personality i like from just looking at pictures? I actually went to see the litter i got my pup from 3 times before i decided to get him. Each time he was the one to come to me, sit next to me and not chew my hand when patted like the rest of his brothers and sisters. I had originally wanted a girl. But he won my heart. I had also looked at 2 other litters. I can see why alot of people on here are against BYBs, alot of proper breeders are breeding to better the breed ect not just to make cash or whatever the reason is with BYBs, BUT whats done is done so why have a go at someone for not buying from a breeder, at the end of the day the pup is being loved and cared for and thats all that should matter. My girl was bought from a pet shop i wouldnt have bought her if i suspected anything was wrong with her, i had the opportunity to see and interact with both parents of my pup (they belonged to one of workers). the only thing i regret about the whole thing is that she doesnt have papers other than that i wouldnt swap her for the world.. pups are going to be bought either way they may aswell go to caring owners..
  14. im in ipswich, near brisbane.. what i meant by the dog training centre thing was somewhere or someone that can do one on one lessons preferably at home, any suggestions of good trainers would be great thanks..
  15. ok so i just took bella for a walk for the first time in a few days, she hasnt been walked the last couple of days because all she wants to do is bite and tug on her lead, then today i thought id see if she would stop that after a few minutes and she did, shes still wont leave it alone completely though. Then a few minutes later her attention turned to an old lady on her foot path, she started pulling towards her then for the first time ever she started to growl and bark at her , this is the first time ever she has growled or even barked at any person except for the occasional bark at people wandering the street at night. its completely shocked me how aggressive she got for no apparent reason, what started as trying to stop her biting at her lead has given me a whole new much worse problem, help please i want to be able to walk her without her going apeshit.. im also calling a dog training centre in the morning.. ohh and people who let there dogs get out are just asking for trouble on that one walk i had a dog sneek up behind me that i didnt notice till bella tried to run back through my legs at it, then some little thing tried to follow us up the road, then to cap that off as we were walking into my front yard another dog from the corner of my street got out and rushed at bella.
