How does one tell if your dog is too fat ? is there some kind of reference chart ? My dog is approaching 15kg, i've noticed that he appears to be fat around the chest region. I have a 1yr old beagle.. Thanks!!

I sometimes feed whole fish, but they smell a bit afterwards with fishy smell! so I do it in moderation!!

Ok its time again that I need some more dry food, but i'm unsure what's the exact difference between the two artemis dry food: Fresh Mix Medium / Large Breed Puppy and Fresh Mix Maximal Dog GRAIN FREE I've already tried the Fresh Mix as our dog is only 10mths old, would it matter if I bought the Grain Free one for him as its meant for an adult? Any opinions are appreciated!!

I try to walk during the mid-day, mornings and late arvos seems to be the worst for my beagle.. I teach my dog a "lets go" command so he'll follow me on command, so when he gets carried away, i use it and he normally follows about 70% of the time..

So is it really trial & error for most dogs, some take more, some take less kinda thing? and as he grows, would I need to increase it eventually? I had a friend over to visit and he said his front quarters was a bit fat, but I didn't really agree!!

My boy pug used to get dirty smelly ears constantly untill I got him off all grains. Now ac lean out in the bath once every 7 to 10 days is all he needs whne it used to be every day. I see, so you're suggesting something like Artemis or any other grain free kibble ?

How much does Bobby weigh now? Is he 10kgs already? What is his weight like - can you see or feel his ribs? With our pup we tried to make sure you could feel her ribs if you felt hard - although at around 6/7 months she would fatten up then have a growth spurt and look really skinny pictures?? 1 cup of kibble doesn't sound like much - I think we were going with 1.5 - 2 cups at that age. Do you have kitchen scales? It helps to give you an idea of how much you are actually feeding if you can weigh it. He is 8kg now. Regarding the kibble, Yes I do weigh it, its about 100-120 gms / day plus a chicken wing for lunch. i've attached some photos, please give me some opinion because I don't know what is fat for a dog!, but he seems to be normal, can feel his ribs.

Not at all, only when i'm cleaning he will attempt to scratch it, i guess you get that ticklish effect.. its basically the smell..

Not that i know of..... plus we don't have a pool/dam in the backyard. If it is an infection, would I be able to see anything (i tried using a torch but it was all clean..)

I've recently noticed our dog with a bit of a smelly ear, he's had them before but it simply went away. I've also made sure that his ears are quite clean (he has these browny stuff), but the smell is there, what could it be??

Mine simply eats it, and finds it disgusting i think and spit it out. What if you ignore the puppy next time a snail is brought inside the house? seems like when you say "aht", its something good ....

Can someone please give me some suggestion with regards to feeding amount? I just read the hill's packet and it says for 10kg (4-9mths), its recommending 245g/day. I'm giving bobby about 1 cup / day plus a wing/neck, should i increase my amount because i think the recommended is way too high ..but on the same note, i think he is growing, perhaps fooled by his innocent looks! I need some feeding advice regarding amount again, I've been feeding him Hills diet (about 1 cup in total per day spread into 2 or 3), plus a chicken wing for lunch. His size seems to be ok, but I'd imagine he is in a growing phase and would need more ?

I was thinking maybe it was due to biting the tree bark this morning in our backyard.. He's now 5 months old so its okay?

Today I noticed bobby's mouth (on the side) was a bit red so I opened his mouth to check it out. And I found a teeth that has fallen out, and it is filled with some flesh.... Its one of the teeth on the side (i'd say the molars equivalent to the ones we have) What should I do? do I need to visit someone??
