  1. Thank you Stitch and everyone else for your replies
  2. I wish at the moment, he does still pull in a soft collar
  3. Hi just wondering which people think is the friendlier option. Halti or choke chain? We have a 7 month old GSD who heals quite nicely on both. Thanks
  4. Thank you  The net and all the advice I have received so far has been very helpful. I will look into it a little more tho before making a decision. Thank you again, and im glad my posts didn't cause anyone to get flamed
  5. Thank you for the advice, I will look up those previous posts on 'Malleerr's ridgeback'. We had initial xrays taken when he was 4 months, and our vet was unable to diagnose him. A specialist has now taken more xrays as Karo (our pup) is now 7months and these confirmed the dysplasia. I am planning to speak to my vet about all the options properly as the specialist only reccomended the surgery. ;)
  6. Hi everyone. After a very long 4 months, my 7 month old GSD has just been diagnosed with Fragmented Coronoid Process elbow dysplasia and mild hip dysplasia. There are also some signs of arthritis in his elbow. The specialist we were referred to recommended surgery to remove the bone fragment from his elbow and a Triple Osteotomy of the Pelvis. Has anyone had these surgeries performed on their pup? I am very interested to hear results. Also If anyone can recommend a surgeon for these procedures, and let me know the rough cost (I understand it is different for each dog I would just like to get an idea). We were referred to one of Sydney’s best and although I want the best for my puppy, he is very expensive and we are looking at over $5000 for the two surgeries (or is this a good price?). Am greatful for any advice. Thanks in advanced.
  7. Thanks for all the replies I took him to see our vet just in case, and he realy is just doing it because he can. He recommended that we put a bit of chillie flakes casualy over it with out letting our pup know what we are up to. But I think i'll try the pepper idea, doesn't sound as painful. Thanks again
  8. He was eating eukanuba puppy for large breeds, but was gettng bored with it. He is now on pro plan puppy for large breeds, has been cut down to just dinner because he wasn't eating his breakfast. He also gets long beef bones a couple times a week and chicken wings. Thanks for the replies, would very much appreciate all suggestions/advice? Not so enjoyable getting kisses from him when there's faeces stuck in his teeth
  9. Hi just needing some advice please. My 7month old GSD after doing his bussiness will lick and even eat his poo. He has been doing it since he was a little pup, was hoping he would grow out of it but this hasn't happened yet. Is he doing it because he is lacking some minerals? What should I do? Thanks
  10. Great, I've added the furminator and gardening gloves on to the shopping list :D Thank u Lab_rat and Shell
  11. Thats a great idea... I have a german shepherd any good tips for getting out the loose hairs? Currently using a rubber brush and then a brush with thin metal combs everyday but he is still always loosing hair.
  12. Hi just wondering what people think about pet insurance? Is it worth it? we are currently visiting vets alot and getting xrays, maybe surgery. If so can anyone recommend a company? Thanks

  14. Hi everyone My 6 month old GSD has been limping in his left front leg for the past 2 months, the vet has taken xrays and was unable to find anything. Have also tried both steroid and non steroid medication with neither helping. He has now been referred to an orthopedic specialtist who wants to take another xray and alot of money from us Kinda been narrowed down to panosteitis, elbow dysplasia or OCD. He comes from a good breeder and both parents where xrayed for dysplasia. I know we should be keeping exercies to a minimum but I have taken him out to my friends farm to visit my horse the last few weeks and he runs around a little and the limp seems to be getting better, or maybe im just getting use to it. Oh he also seems to be very cow hocked, don't know if that influences anything. If any one has any advice for me I would greatly appreciate it. All he wants to do is run and chase the ball and I feel terrible that I can't play with him properly, he has so so much energy and is starting to become naughty. Thanks
