  1. I would go with that "feeling", go to consumer affairs.com to see what american consumers think of this food, there is a class action law suit in progress. Willis l did go to consumer affairs.com about 5 weeks ago about dog food and l am amazed how many complaintes there is on every dog food company not just one. Im not convinced l got anything out of it. No not EVERY dog food company, i found NO complaints about Artemis. I researched numerous U.S made dog foods before I decided what PREMIUM food to feed, Artemis is one of only about 5 dog foods in the U.S that rate as excellent, I was condidering R.C , but that is considered ordinary in the U.S and is owned by Mars.

  3. And there are ALOT of imports that are marketed here in O.Z as premium that are far from it. The only thing PREMIUM is the price!! Alot of dog food from the U.S that contains fish meal contains Ethoxyquin. Ethoxyquin is used in pesticide's and is also used to harden rubber, it's also used in dog food. Artemis only stopped using Etoxyquin in their fish meal based food in may 2010, and they would be considered GOOD QUALITY.
  4. There is a vet at Paralowie vet clinic named Steve Crouch who is very experienced at cruciate ligament surgery, he and his partner Jonathon ( can't remember his last name ) have both worked in the U.K with Crufts clients. Steve is a fantastic surgeon, with a no B.S attitude, he did a cruciate ligament op on my daughters JR, and he was completely recovered 3 weeks post op. The suture job alone he done on that dog was better than any doctors work i've ever seen. I highly recommend him.
  5. what a weak bit of reporting, melamine is old news. Why didn't they mention the preservative ETHOXYQUIN ( also used in pesticide ) that alot of U.S dog food manufacturers use in their food, even the manufacturers of some of the "super premium " dog foods. I know of one of the best rated dog foods in the U.S was using ethoxquin up until may 2010.
  6. I did e-mail Atemis oz and Artemis U.S, I also e-mailed the woman in the U.S from where i got the info about the standards (lack of) for producing dog food in the U.S, she is the only one to e-mail a response to me so far, and has confirmed that it is DIAMOND PET FOODS that manufacture Atremis dry dog food, and a company named EVANGER that manufacturer wet ( can ) food. Anyway, i've decided that 13.6 kg bag of artemis is going back to the supplier and i'm going raw.
  7. I've been feeding Artemis fresh mix to my boxer for the past 2 months, but after doing some research on U.S made dog food in the past few days I've discovered that the standards for producing pet food in the U.S are absolutely appalling, in the U.S they are basically permitted to state anything on the pet food they manufacture, it can be a bag of crap and they can call it premium. The FDA do not allow pet food companies to state weather the meat in pet food is human grade or animal grade, the only way to find out what grade it is, is to ask the manufacturer, and hope they tell you the truth. So you might think your feeding your dog a "super premium " food, and in actual fact it could be a bag full of road kill and toxic chemicals. I did a google search on artemis/ethoxyquin and Bingo they use ethoxyquin to preserve the fish in their dog food, as do the majority of the U.S dog food companies that have fish as an ingredient in their food. I e-mailed Artemis asking them if they use ethoxyquin in their food and what grade the meat is, and if they are the actual manufacturer of the food, as I've also learnt that alot of these so called " SUPER PREMIUM " dog foods in the U.S are actually made by a company called DIAMOND. only in america !!
  8. I would say no, and how would it work out insurance wise? e.g if my dog attacked your dog or vice versa, who pays for damages or vet bills ?
  9. My 7 month old boxer pup started sneezing yesterday and had a runny nose with yellow discharge from one nostril, he seemed better this morning. He hasn't eaten at all today, can't even tempt him with his favorite food. He had a big sneeze about 10 minutes ago with a big amount of yellow/green thick mucous from both nostrils and when i wiped it seemed to have a tinge of blood in it. He isn't coughing at all. He had KC vacc about 2 months ago. Are these symptoms of KC?
  10. your dog has a nice coat, very shinny. I don't think she looks too thin. By the way, is it just the photo, or is your dogs nose seriously bent/crooked ??
  11. Hi carolyn, so sorry for your loss . I know how hard your decision was to make, I had to do the same thing with my beautiful boxer boy on new years eve. I just knew from the look in his eyes that it was time. I can't tell you when the pain and tears will end, but know that you did the right thing and Jedda is not in pain or suffering anymore. Debbie
  12. Hi Jedda, i agree with staffyluv, get rid of the Hills diet. I would look into products from k9 immunity. My beautiful 8 yo boxer died from mediastinal lymphoma in december, he was gone 3 weeks after diagnosis. But in that 3 weeks i spent hours and hours on the internet researching canine cancer, and nutrition plays a vital role in helping fight cancer. I e-mailed the suppliers of k9 immunity explaining what type of cancer my dog had and they were fantastic with their information and support. Good luck, i hope Jedda has many more years being happy
  13. Sorry that your Jedda has cancer I suggest you ask in the Palliative care forum for advice, staffyluv may be able to help you. She has a dog with the same cancer. Good luck, I hope your dog improves
  14. Thanks Kavik that would be great !! My pup is great to train at home, at the local park, he's just full on wanting to play all the time, but once we go to obedience class he just loses the plot. He wants to run to the dog in front of him ,or behind him, sniff the ground, do 360's, and if i get tough with him he sulks. I'm hoping agility will make him focus a bit more if he thinks it's all a game.
