  1. My little Cavalier girl was desexed on Tuesday, I was given the choice of tattoo or not, I chose to tattoo, they also did a tattoo for microchip in the other ear at the same time
  2. I would love to help but I am in SA and could probably only take 1, offer is there though if needed :D
  3. As soon as I started reading this I thought - Grass seed - ONLY becuase this was the way Abby was behaving on Wednesday night and that was the culprit :p Luckily I had taken her straight to the vet and they managed to get it out before it had gone down further otherwise she would have had to be sedated to get it out I had no idea that a grass seed in the ear would make my pup act that badly, I thougth she was dying, poisoned or something $225 for an emergency consult and she is all better
  4. Yep unfortunately it is illegal in SA as my brother was fined for this earlier this year OMG he actually got fined? Just out of curiosity, how much was the fine? Does he still do it? Yep, but he has a bit of "history" so the police like to pick him up for whatever they can, LOL I think the fine only ended up being about $25 but we had to contest it becuase they had originally fined him $250 The officer was reported and was giving a warning eta - No he doesn't do it anymore
  5. Yep unfortunately it is illegal in SA as my brother was fined for this earlier this year
  6. Just as a quick comment but I think Riding a bike whilst towing a dog is illegal (at least in SA, I don't know about other states) as my brother was fined earlier this year for riding his push bike with his dog on the lead running next to him.
  7. But if your pup hasn't been microchipped then that means the other pups wouldn't be microchipped either, the breeder needs the microchip info for all the pups before she can register the litter so even if you do go this week to get her microchipped you will still have to wait for the other owners to get their pups microchipped??
  8. I'm with you I think... Though I would try squashing her into a backpack first. Me too, although dunno how I would fair trying to stuff a Labrador in a back pack, the Cavalier would be fine though, LOL
  9. This is my baby at 4 weeks old, only another 33 days and she will be home Abby I so can't wait!! Gotta puppy proof the house though, am used to a much LARGER dog, lol
  10. Hi everyone I haven't posted in here for awhile but have been reading and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of Bailey, he's absolutely gorgeous Borderfan :-) My girl is 1 week and 4 days old today so still a looooooooooooooooong wait til she comes home, can't wait though!!! Jodi
  11. Hi BF, could you let me know (via PM) which Vet you used that gives the 3 year injections (I know which one you didn't use ) as this is something I've been looking into too Thanks in advance, Jodi
  12. First you have to decide if you want an ES or an Aussie The Aussie at Mason's birthday party the other day was divine
  13. Well bitch has been mated so now the countdown is on! Hopefully in 63(ish) days my baby will be born! ;)
  14. AND if all goes well and Christian comes to live with you.......Piccies are a must!!
  15. Thank you so much everyone for your suggestion, lots of research to do We actually went to a dog show today and she played with some Miniature Pinschers so now they are on the list, LOL, We will go to a few more shows to try and narrow down the possibilties (I fell in love witha french bulldog but thats another story, LOL). We did see a lot of breeds that she said NO WAY to My son (3 Years Old) made great friends with a HUGE dog of some sort (bout the size of a great dane but with long hair?) which was quite funny to see, LOL Thanks again for all the advice and suggestions Jodi
  16. Oh they are gorgeous arn't they, she however seems to like the smooth coats ;)
  17. Yep I've thought about that too and I've got no problem keeping the dog, our gorgeous girl Shar (Labrador) will most likely unfortunately be over the bridge by then so her dog will keep my Cavalier company, if she takes it with her then I guess I have an excuse to get another dog When I moved out of home I took my dog with me (had her since I turned 13) and my mother visited everyday.....to see the dog!! ;)
  18. Hi Everyone My 10 year old daughter is dog obsessed and had been for years. After lengthy discussions we as a family have decided that she will be allowed her own dog when she turns 12 IF she can prove she is responsible enough for one. She has duties for our current dog that she must remember etc. and she must do all reading etc. to prepare for owning and training a dog. She has already started saving her pocket money towards this dog even though my husband and I will be covering the costs of the dog and any necessary costs she wants to contribute to immunisation/puppy school/obedience class etc. expenses. She is quite mature even for a 10 year old and I feel she will certainly be responsible enough in 2 years time. We will be using these 2 years to research breeds and to prepare for the puppy. She will be responsible for vet visits (under supervision of course), puppy school, obedience classes, grooming and walking. I am after suggestions of what breeds would be better for a child/teenage handler (hard to believe she's nearly a teenager ), obviously I would like a smallish dog (so have given a GSD a define "no" already) as I just don't think she would have the strength to hold a larger breed pup (I myself think I would have trouble holding onto a exhuberant larger breed pup - picture a small fat woman being pulled along behind an over-excited german shepard ). We got our Lab as an adult so didn't have to deal with the rambunctious (spelling?) teenage Lab and I also don't think she would be a strong enough leader for a Lab either. So, so far we have on the list : Chihuahua, Fox Terrior or Jack Russell Terrier and she likes the looks of the Smooth Colllie's although I haven't done much research etc. on these so not sure if the would be suitable. I think she would prefer a smooth coat for easier grooming etc. Dog will be mostly inside. By then we will have (god willing) a 10 year old Labrador and a (roughly) 2 year old cavalier. Any suggestion would be appreciated as would any book/reading suggestions that would be appropriate for her. Once we decide on a breed we will be joining the appropriate breed club/getting books etc. She has 2 years of research ahead of her so she will be well prepared once the time comes (although I'm thinking toilet training and getting up at 3am is gonna be an eye opener for her ;) ). Thanks in advance for any help Jodi
  19. Holy Dooley, I can imagine a pair of aggresive Saint Bernards would be pretty damn scary
  20. Sorry if I'm reading this wrong but if I take my dog to an offleash park, have it offleash (as it is allowed to be), it's playing nicely, romping in the grass etc. and then is suddenly attacked by another dog then it's my fault??
  21. Thats Ok, I understand, Zoe's needs come first and she is just a baby so would probably be too much for her When I get my baby we will have to meet up though ok
  22. Yep I understand She actually has 2 girls due to come into season so hopefully out of the 2 there will be at least 2 girl puppies, LOL If not this time, then I'll wait (im)patiently
  23. Well my husband has no idea why I'm so excited so I thought I'd share it with people who "might" understand.......... The bitch is in season!!!! Which means hopefully my pup will be concieved soon and then the long wait starts til the pregnancy is confirmed, and then the wait to see what pups are delivered and if there is some little girls, fingers crossed for at least 2 little girls (breeder wants to keep one too) I know it's a bit daft, but I'm excited LOL Jodi
  24. Hi everyone Was just wondering if anyone knows if there are any Car Harnesses for dogs which clip to an anchorage point instead of a seatbelt? Any help would be appreciated Jodi
