  1. Looks like I've stumped the Barf advocates!
  2. Hi all I find my 2 kids a raw diet using a variety of fresh meats. The main one I use being Coles 3 star beef or Aldi. I note on the label Coles states the meat is 18% fat, which I never thought much about given that one the veggies are mixed in the total overall fat content of the meal would drop to around 14% or so. My question is, what sort of fat and protein ratio is optimum?
  3. I also tried the Lenards Chicken Mince about 18 months ago. Wasnt happy with the smell and chucked it out. Has anyone used a grinder to make their own mince from chicken wings? Id like to give it a try for the basis of my raw meals rather than using red meat for each meal
  4. What are the benefits of adding this to a daily feed?
  5. Get a snugglesafe. They are fantastic. They stay warm for at least 10 hours, they are very hard to destroy (you can just replace the cover if that should happen). They're usually $40-$60ish but I think they're well worth it. http://www.pegasuspetproducts.com.au/index...p;productId=145 That looks good, ill have to get a couple this weekend!
  6. I was thinking the same, not sure about the kind of coughing though. Is it a bit like a "goose honking" cough and then he has to retch because he had to cough so much? Dagmar No its random times. And no, not like a goose. The only way i can describe it is like a cat furball
  7. I have not heard about hairballs in dogs, just in cats. How is your dog otherwise, eating and drinking normally, alert or lethargic? How is his coat, shiny or dull/lifeless? Is he a fearful, easily frightened and maybe even aggressive at times? Sorry for all the questions, I am just trying to get a full picture. Dagmar He is his normal self, loves food, loves his exercise. Going to bed a tad earlier which ive put due to the sun going down earlier, but otherwise he is tops
  8. My boy, a Rotti/Dobe Cross (who is turning 4 on Sunday!!) has been making noises, perhaps once every 2nd day, that sound like he is coughing up a hairball. It starts like when you have your mouth wide open and "huff" all the air in your lungs out in one go, which he does 3 or 4 times, then he does a noise like he his "hoiking" up some phlegm, which he then appears to swallow and trots off again. It doesnt seem to bother him, but is there anything i can do for him? Im assuming he is in no discomfort, but thought i should tap the bastion of knowledge that is the DOL forum to make sure everything is ok!
  9. Ive got my two kids covered with Manchester Unity Pet Cover however they only cover 80% of the bills up to 8k Perhaps I should be moving across to PIA
  10. Will it be ok to just have one kibble for the pair of them, despite one being 7kg and one being 30kg?
  11. Hello Im currently feeding dry food for breakfast with a dinner of RAW to my 2 kids, one is a 4yo mini-foxie, the other a 3yo Rotty/Dobe Cross. Ive gone through the Royal Canin range after reading many posts on DOL giving it a good rap, but which product do i choose given i have two different breeds which are also two different sizes? My current dry food is Supercoat
  12. I have two kids, a 30kg Rottie boy and 7kg Mini Foxie girl Ive been feeding Natures Gift can at night, Purina Supercoat during the day and a couple of chicken wings each morning for breakfast with Dad. Both get plenty of exercise and playtime. Now im hearing about super premium dry foods, are these worth the money and which is the generally considered best? Thanks!!
